Chickpea zaatar hand pie

The baked goods from this bakery are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! * the sourdough is outstanding crumb and tang * the rye is dense & tangy * the chickpea zaatar handles are delicate, flaky and full of flavor * the pepita butter cookie is not overly sweet, more like a biscuit; excellent for a light dessert after dinner * AND the oat bars with tahini...OMG! Crisp, flavorful, and addictive You need to visit this bakery!!!!

Oat cake is amazing!

Their oat cake is the best I have! We were in RittenSquare passing by Famers' market and tried it. Such a heavy duty and healthy and delicious cake!

If you don't already know Lost Bread Co., you'll want to. Where savory, sweet, salty, and good times collide! This retail/food space is a dreamy little haven that has so much more than you'd think given the size. Such a thoughtful variety of bread, snacks (iconic pretzel shortbread, but everything else too!), and fantastic meal-level options like the single greatest sausage roll I think I've ever had. And zines! My ideal stop of a rainy Sunday morning: breakfast, coffee, and take-home delights. And of course, A+ service! I just love it. I'm glad you exist, LBC.

I was introduced to Lost Bread Co. by those amazing pretzel shortbread cookies. I've since been to their Howard street location twice during this pandemic for in-store pickups. If I've learned one thing about how we handle being at home, it's that the entire world decided to bake bread. It was weeks before I saw flour on sale in the grocery stores or the standard flour I buy. I think early on, I couldn't find meat either, but I found corned beef packets after St. Patrick's day. I wanted Rye bread, didn't know if I would be able to find it, so I went to Lost Bread to get some Rye Flour. A whole wheat too, pretzel short breads, and their pizza kits. The pizza kits were perfect for the two of us and they had a sliding scale to purchase more dough. Very helpful to people not currently getting a paycheck, but still wanted to eat a decent meal. I've been back for more Pretzel Shortbreads for me and others, (you're welcome Mom for the Mother's Day gift... It beat's any candy for someone who grew up in Philadelphia) I've also gotten more pizza kits for the summer greens featuring ramps and cheese curds. If it wasn't for the COVID-19, I wouldn't have been frequenting this place as much. I'm glad I found this place and I look forward to more purchases in the future, but for now my large orders are strictly to just try to help the fantastic places that make our region so special.

SO Good!! Lost Bread is a bakery and mill in Philadelphia. I found their table at the entrance to the Schuylkill River Park. The table is unassuming, yet filled with so much. They had Table Bread, Whole Grain Croissant, Deli Rye, Spelt Handpies, Milk Buns, Oat Bar, and Cranberry Bran Muffins. I opted for the Pretzel Shortbread Crisps, which are so yummy. They have lasted all week and I already can't wait for the next batch!

Support local! This little bread company is located in a really innocuous part of town as well as on the street. With the door closed I'm sure I wouldn't think anything of this warehouse-looking neighborhood bakeshop. I tried all the pastries they had that day, my friend got a hominy biscuit, and we split a half loaf of milkbread and a loaf of the seeded bread. The donut was a little bit on the dense/chewy side. Filling was good and didn't ooze as one may fear. Dough of the donut was sweet and light. Filling wasn't overly sweet or overpowering of the dough. Pear Canelle was crisp on the outside and soft and moist on the inside; good variation in texture without any overpowering flavors. A great standard canelle. Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie was the first thing I broke into (long time readers will understand). Very moist and flavorful, good consistency throughout, distribution of chips and overall flavor was good. Kouign-aman was a slightly different shape and texture than I was accustomed to. Not sure if this was intentional or if it was a mess-up that got called a kouign-aman. Overall it was a good pastry. Breads were moist in the center with a good amountof crust and flavor - no complaints!

I'm glad I took some time on my Sunday morning to stop by. It's in a convenient and accessible location. It's a very unassuming place, and when I went, it was pretty empty. The man at the register was fast and friendly. I got the whole grain loaf and a bag of the pretzel shortbread (total $19). Both were fantastic. The bread had a perfect chewy and hearty texture that would make a great base for sandwiches or toast. What really surprised me though was the shortbread. It was both savory and sweet, and unlike other shortbread I've had, it wasn't too dry or crumbly. I definitely want to return to check out some of their other items!

This place is open! Their hours may be limited (I'm assuming they post hours on Instagram and other socials) but they were open on a Sunday morning when I walked by, so I popped in and was glad I did. Not only do they have freshly baked bread and pastries available for purchase, they also have coffee (iced and hot) and egg sandwiches. Their shelves are also stocked with grab and go items like those shortbread crackers they're so famous for and freshly mulled flour. They even have a few tables inside if you'd like to sit down to enjoy your breakfast.

I've been really eager to try this place - there's something about a storefront being open only two days a week that makes it extra intriguing. Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. While I was the only customer, it was clear they were hit hard with patrons earlier in the day - there was only one hearth table bread left! I grabbed that and a pack of pretzel shortbread and was on my way. The bread is to die for. The loaf is perfectly crispy and the inside is flavorful and airy. I ate two slices without anything on it and it was delicious. Excited to try more of the variations, but I can tell this one is going to be a favorite. Now. The pretzel shortbread... Might be one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. I'm a sucker for sweet and savory combinations and this is perfect. Location is not too far out of the way, right next to the el. 100% worth stopping at this spot.

Amazing bread! I made cheese steaks with it!

The bread, pizza kits, and cookies were amazing! I love the vibe of this place however I was yelled at before getting to the counter because I didn't know my order #. I still give 5 stars because the product was really good. I believe in supporting small businesses. I was treated rudely so I probably won't go back anytime soon. I do however encourage everyone to try this bread and for gods sake know your order #.

Bread is awesome GM is terrible and has no customer service. I can't stand when GM's can't be helpful instead of rude

I thought I'd written a review about this place before but to my shock I had not…read more I have been coming here since the day they opened, infrequently beacuse I am diabetic but when I want to spoil my body with delicious sugar, honey, this is *IT*. Now I could tell you all about how perfectly tasty everything is. From the classic banana puddings (I prefer the caramel version myself,) to the cookies, to the pineapple upside-down mini cakes. Yes, I could tell you that. But I want to speak to something deeper. I want to speak to belonging and community; and to fairness. As a biracial person with a brown sister, I feel the pull to support black and brown businesses. It's not a secret. And sometimes you do it, and sometimes you privately think "Damn. I wanna be supportive but this place is a mess." Then there's Sweet Life. NOT that. FILLED with good product at a great price, delivered by owners and staff who actually give a damn about being loving and supportive to all different types of people. And did I mention the sweets are POPPIN'? And to that statement of fairness. Today I came in to place an order, and when the price came up, for a moment I thought "Damn. That is a lot higher than I remembered, but I am not about to question them. They set the price and that price is what they deserve." So I paid. But then I noticed there was more in my bag that I'd asked for, and that there had been a miscommunication. When I tell you that this miscommunication was corrected with swiftness *AND* a smile. No shade. No drama. Just an "Ooops, oh well, here's your refund on the balance." I know this seems very basic but we all know it isn't. We have all been in that awkward situation where as a customer we have to point out an error, and the vendor turns it into a Shakespearan tragedy. Not Sweet Life. "Oops. Sorry! Fixed. Love you." So, to recap: Stunningly delicious sweets. Prices fair as hell. Communicative, inclusive staff doing the right thing. You need to take those money dollers and haul your ass over here TODAY. Now...where did I put my insulin pen?

Place was nice and bright. Plenty of seating. So many things looked tasty but I got two pain aux raisins, an eclair, a merveilleux, and 4 mini choux pastries (2 for $1). The total came to $24. Pain aux raisin was good but not the best I've ever had. Would have liked them to be slightly thicker and crispier. Plenty of raisins though. Crème pâtissière was fantastic. Eclair was thin and dainty. I got this for my son as a safe bet. I tried a piece and I was so delighted to find it was filled with a chocolate pudding type of filling. The mini choux pastries were an impulse buy. I got enough for everyone in the car ride home to try. Delicious and delicate one bite treat. The merveilleux was a blind buy. Read a review that raved about it so I gave it a try. I didn't even know what to expect. It's crispy meringue covered in cream and crushed speculoos cookies. It's so heavenly! 2/3 of us liked the merveilleux the best and one of us liked the pain aux raisin the best. Come here if you're looking for something really special

I stopped in around 8 AM and their pastries were FRESH. The baguette was still warm to the touch. Swoon.
