I ask the gentleman at the register if he could make sure my burrito was juicy. He replies with "there's not much I can do". Ok I can understand that. I ask if they can add cheese he says 1 dollar more. Ok that's a little high for some cheese, but I say "let's do it"! I get my burrito and it's out fast I take two bites to realize that there is no cheese! I kindly let the gentleman at the register know they forgot my cheese. No apology just let me see your burrito. Ok I'm assuming they are gonna give me a new one which would be the right thing to do. Of course that's not what happened. Instead I get cold cheese thrown in the burrito that ruined the whole experience cause let's be honest the whole point of ordering cheese in your burrito is so it's melted. Instead I get the same burrito not reheated mind you which would have made things a little better, but no they took through this sloppy mess back at me with attitude. I recently made my way there again and noticed they had a new set up. They do the cooking outside where you can see all the cooking being done in front of you. I'm not sure why there aren't any more reviews for this place, but be assured that this place will not disappoint your taste buds! They provide plenty of options for toppings available to you at the salsa bar, and all of them were an amazing addition to my tacos! Parking is a little tight in this small lot where they park, but parking farther and walking over wasn't much of an issue for us. Prices were reasonable, and this location is very central to many communities in Long Beach, so I will for sure be returning here if they continue to stay in Long Beach. My husband and I have eaten here two times now. I'm sad to say, we won't be back. Here's why: We have only tried the tacos, -carne asada: meat was dry -al pastor: just ok -tripas (intestines) are delicious!!! BUT!!! When I had the tripas taco, unfortunately I had gunk in it like they didnt clean the intestines well enough. It was like eating an oyster filled with dirt! The crunchy nasty chalk sound in my mouth and grinding through my teeth was horrible! I let it slide because it was really good! The second tripas taco on that same plate I hoped would be better, nope, more bits of gunk! The next day, my husband asked me if I wanted to give it another shot. Sure, ok... They set up in the evenings in the far end of the carwash lot off Anaheim between the El Pollo Loco and Valvoline (Newport and Loma streets near Redondo). You basically park wherever in that lot and walk over. Business must be booming because instead of ordering from the truck they set up a grill outside and you just follow down the production line and your order gets made in front of you. They increased the amount of (super cheap) plastic tables and stools and hung up some christmas lights so it gives off this night market vibe. Also love that they stay open so late. I always opt for the pastor and my husband gets cabeza. As a Latina who loves Baja tacos when in Mexico this place brings fond memories. The seating is not the best, four square folding tables and no- back plastic for chairs, but people eat quickly and a table is ready for the next patron in no time. The only other places I have ever liked tacos from were at a hole in the wall in North Long Beach (everything was perfect, from the variety of meat options, to the handmade tortillas) and a truck deep in the heart of Los Angeles (we all know LA tacos are good). These are the classic tacos you'd find in LA or in Mexico. Small tortillas, but the meat is packed on and it is savory and well seasoned. For $1.25 it doesn't get much better in this area! Salsa is another thing that can easily and heavily influence an opinion on an establishment. I have only tried the avocado salsa and that is the only salsa I will ever need from there! It is the brighter green bottle that looks like blended guac. Really delicious and addicting. A couple tacos with extra cilantro, lime, and that salsa will cradle you into such a happy little food coma. I was disappointed with these tacos. Warning signs were all over the place, burnt Al Pastor on the "trompo", and an overall unhappy gray feeling. The pastor tacos were not seasoned right, they completely lacked flavor, sure there we bits of chili flakes in the meat, but there was NO flavor. Tripa tacos were just mushy and also no flavor. I thought that this place was going to b good but it was far from that. Me and my GF end up getting food poisoning and I had it the worst I was bed ridden for two days. They need to change the way that they handle the food over there gloves should be a top priority but they don't use gloves at all when they r preparing the food which is a big red flag. I had been seeing the lines at this truck every night on my way home from work for over year. I finally decided to drag my boyfriend here to give it a try. We both loved it and eat here at least once a week now. For $20 we get dinner + leftovers for lunch the next day. My boyfriend loves the burritos and I pretty much love everything. They make the pastor the right way, cutting layers off a skewer, but I was surprised to see that their asada is actually my favorite of their meats. It is tender and perfectly seasoned. I've been walking past this place (corner of Redondo and Anaheim) for about a month and a half now while I've been on a diet. It's been killing me not to buy any tacos from them. Well finally today I did, And I was not disappointed. Between my girlfriend and I we ordered nine tacos which came out to be $11.25. The Carne Asada was pretty good the Al Pastor was so so the Chorizo was great and the Tripas was pretty good too. There were three sauces to choose from, and onions and jalapeños on the side. When we received our tacos they also gave us a small foil wrapped side of grilled onions with a chili pepper in it. Both my girlfriend and I felt the corn tortillas were slightly under average. Other than that we felt it was a really great deal for the quality for which we received. People can argue all day long about who has the best tacos, but the question really is would you have these tacos again? For me the answer is a resounding yes, I will probably be back at least once a week since they are literally half a block away from me. Update: been here like 5 times now. Tried this spot for the first time last night and have mixed feelings about it. The staff are very friendly and they are generous with their portions. I would not recommend the carne asada though.
