Potato tacos!!! I have tried other items on the menu all fairly good. But always end up back where I started.

Employees and decor and cleanliness was great but my hard shell ground beef tacos was a disappointment tacos are small bust overal tacos are tasty, rice was very good and beans no flavor. My plate was $15.99 ridiculous for what you get and add a large drink and I paid over $21.00 I am not from this area I traveled here from Ontario Ca and to the other revieiwer who has come here for 20 years it's called an opinion don't be hurt because everyone else does no share your opinion. This is my first time eating here and the food is pretty good! My friend and I got the carne asada nacho with al pastor and fish tacos. The portion sizes are is very generous. I don't normally venture out of my taste palette, but this was worth the tingles in my taste buds! I love the decor of the place! Will come back again! read more

This place is just okay. I had a pollo asada burrito and it was a bit bland and meat was dry. It really isn't too memorable, but they do have a great salsa bar with tons of different flavors. I think the first time I went to this location maybe been the late 80's, I remember riding my bike there. I have always been happy with my food, usually order tacos or burrito Asada or Pastor. About a month ago I sent my wife in there and she got me a burrito and she had nachos, she specifically asked for no onion. When she got home the nachos were piled high with onions. My wife is one that does not look at prices, she just charges it. I did not realize the price increase. I went yesterday to get a wet burrito and it came to $15. As much as I like this place, after around 35 years, I think I am done. I understand prices have gone up, but this is ridiculous. read more

Free parking. Affordable tacos. I recommend the nachos but half order to share if you plan to order other items. The nachos are huge. Every bite is filled with meat, tomatoes, onions, and meat. Sour cream and guacamole are on the side. My favorite tacos are the AL pastor and lengua. If you look at the tacos they load up on meat. Yes, although well-meaning, the front desk ladies are not very polished in customer service and the restaurant is over-priced, but the food is great. Tried a carnitas taco...$2.29. King taco has nothing to worry about. The meat was dry as were the corn tortillas. The salsa couldnt save this desert of a snack. PASADENA WEEKLY should get out of the city more often. At least the staff was nice and place was clean and nicely set up. Hopefully their other food is better. read more

I purchased a Groupon from Los Tacos after noticing Carne a la Tampiqueña on the menu. A few things have changed since then, as the San Gabriel location lost their lease, and several items including the special dish I wanted are not available at the Pasadena location. Technically, I can order a carne asada plate and add a cheese enchilada to create "Carne a la Tampiqueña", but the $16 price tag would be unreasonably high. Moreover, customer photos of the carne asada being diced into small pieces (probably pre-made for burritos and tacos) made it less appetizing, so I ended up ordering something else instead. I had the chicken mole plate, shredded beef taquitos, a chile verde taco, and a carnitas taco. Some of the food was pretty terrible, some were ok. The mole poblano was one-note sweet, weak hints of nutty or bittersweet flavors to counteract the sweetness. The accompanying rice was clumpy and the four pieces of chips tossed in were obviously stale. The shredded beef taquitos were sufficiently crispy, paired with creamy guacamole that was slightly brown although OK on the salt level. The tacos were pretty awful, no distinct flavor for either the chile verde pork and carnitas. No crispy ends for the carnitas. Definitely not worth $2.10 per street-sized taco. Each taco was assembled with a solo tortilla that crumbled very easily. At regular price, the food is far too expensive for the quality. With a Groupon, it was more tolerable, although in my opinion, Los Tacos still isn't a place worth driving out for. Maybe it's better for people who live nearby or work at the hospital across the street. read more

It's a little eatery but they're BIG on flavor. I had to order the chicken taco plate because, well......that's what chicken taco fiends do. LOL. They were juicy with the right amount of chicken taco magic infused throughout. They weren't greasy. They weren't dry. They weren't bland. Equals: WIN. The rice and beans were perfect. Freshly made tortilla chips were tasty with the guacamole and when the chips were gone, I finished the guacamole off like Mortal Kombat. I'm thoroughly happy and very full. This afternoon I wrangled the Huevos Rancheros plate for only $5.50. You'll have to convert that to pesos yourself. It consisted of two medium eggs on a corn tortilla, a decent helping of Chillequilles, and a large helping of black beans with cheese. The hot sauce and peppers from the salsa bar definitely got my spurs jangling. There are about five other similar breakfast plates for the same price too, as well as a special on tacos that'll get you yodeling. Something like $1 a piece. I'm telling you, you'll have to remove your holsters to eat here. The interior design theme is New Mexico all the way. The walls are sponge painted in adobe oranges, clay browns, and, sunset reds. Even the ceiling tiles are sponge painted so that they resemble a mission style floor. And for you artsy city folk out there, you'll find a wall hung with replicas of Diego Rivera's most famous paintings. Almost as classy as Las Vegas ya hear! This place is a real cross roads. People of all types come in here. Lots of people from the hospital across the way, construction workers, and even some mustachioed tough jeans wearin' dudes who confused me a bit with all their talk of Bette Midler. I was listening to them while waiting to use the outhouse you see. Hey did you know that Mama Cass died of a heroin overdose BEFORE she choked on that chicken sandwich? Like my visit here, I'll make it quick: - If you like tongue, get the lengua tacos. Very soft and tender, just the way it should be. - The chili verde tacos are legit, too. These carnitas tacos are covered in salsa verde and went down smooth and easy. - The chicken taco was middle of road, a little bland, but not horrible. - The pastor was straight up garbage, or at least that's what I thought I was chewing. - All three of the sauces were weak. LOVE this taco place. It's a little hide-away off Fair Oaks, on the west side of the street. You can usually park in front of the store. Walk in, order, pay, and the food will be brought to you in about 10 minutes. Our regular obsessions: Hard shell taco with beef ($2.25 each) Fish taco ($1.75 each)-- this is my most favorite, I always have to have 3 or 4! Juicy, delicious, not greasy. There are also flan and Fruit drinks by the counter. Self-help out salsa station. Staffs are friendly. They clean up the tables diligently. A place of simple pleasure. Well... where do u start ? The name Los tacos says it all- come here for tacos only and only if ur super hungry and in the parking lot . The cashier is incompetent - argumentative and overall unhappy . She takes turns arguing with the customers and the cooks and back and forth. She doesn't listen or seem to give a half a care about an order. I clearly ordered menudo with light meat to no meat . She Hands me a bowl with all meat no corn. She decided to argue with me until we got it right . Menudo comes out lukewarm and mediocre . Definitely not coming back anytime soon. The manager refused to honor our 2nd groupon because we were the "same party". Food is definitely not worth it unless you have the 50% off groupon. I ordered the carne asada combo plate which didn't taste like carne asada at all. Super bland and it looked like rabbit pellets. The $11 Groupon got me 8 tacos, a tub of guacamole, and a bag of chips. It's a lot. What actually impressed me about Los Tacos is how flavorless their guacamole is. I could feel in my mouth that I was eating guacamole, but I certainly couldn't taste any. As with the tacos, I have serious doubts that they use any seasoning whatsoever. Out of the four kinds of tacos I ordered, I only enjoyed the birria, the beef tasted like some real attention was paid to it, and it was tasty! The fish taco tasted, well, fishy. The other two were flavorless, like the guacamole. The salsa bar didn't help much, the salsas were generic and didn't offer much to rescue the cardboard that I had been served. I'm convinced that Los Tacos is designed to feed children who don't know what tacos are supposed to taste like. There were two televisions in the restaurant, one of which was tuned to CNN, the other one Nickelodeon. Los Tacos isn't for someone like me, single with no kids. This is a well-worn but clean restaurant. We've visited a few times and I inevitably get the same two item combo plate, soft taco with the marinated beef, chicken mini burrito. By the time I've inhaled the flan I am ready to roll out the door because it's delicious and filling food. The carne asada wasn't as flavorful as I wanted it to be. Had I not squeezed the lime, I don't think I would have gotten the flavors I was looking for. The pollo was great. Juicy, tender, and flavorful. No complaints about that one. The Al Pastor (marinated pork) was nothing special. I actually mistook it for the carne asada. I wish the pork had more of a pull-pork texture; the meat was more on the dry side. The horchata had all the right flavors, but it was a little watered down for my taste. I've read from previous reviews that the place serves watered down salsas, but from my experience, I have to disagree and say that their salsas are thick in body and each salsas are bold in their flavors and spiciness, especially the hot and extra hot salsas. All in all, I was satisfied with the meal. It was great. The place was clean and the service was nice, fast, and friendly. I am just curious about how the place fares when it's a bit busier. I went into Los Tacos because I was craving some quick (not fast food) Mexican food. I went in at 9:35 pm to order , the place closes at 10, the gentleman gladly helped me. He was very curious and helpful when I asked which sauce he recommended for my burrito. I sat down and I saw him coming over to my table with my huge delicious Burrito! Overall the food was very good, I enjoyed it because it was quick and tasty and was a much better quality than most quick serve Mexican restaurants! I am writing this review for the catering service they provided for a family birthday celebration. Believe me when I write this crowd has high standards, given that part of this family once owned a Mexican family restaurant in La Crescenta for 25 years. First off, I opted for the Birria, and tacos El Pastor opposed to typical carne asada. The meat was flavorful and meat was of good quality. AND served hot! The salsas were fresh and the guacamole was the REAL Guac with chunks of avocado. The taquitos appetizers had enough meat and quesadillas were made on the spot and were quickly consumed.I had to tell guests to slow down, because the main meal was still going to be served. Best part was the customer service that was provided. Fidel the owner came a few days before the event to scout out area for set up. Then on the day of event, Mateo and Benjamin came in the morning to set up and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the decorations (which they provided) and that I my expectations were met. During the party Benjamin made sure the serving trays were never empty and even helped in taking plates away. He was very professional and made it easy on me (as host) to interact with guests. Everyone was very impressed with food and presentation and SERVICE! We have had a Taquero cater one other party and obviously we were not that impressed. Difference between night and day. Should I ever have another event with Mexican food I will certainly go back to Los Tacos. read more

Between Hubby and me, we ordered 4 tacos, 3 carne asada and 1 chicken mole. I enjoyed the chicken mole, or what I thought was the chicken mole. It turned out that Hubby pointed me to the wrong taco. I know, I couldn't even tell by taste. I never ever had a carne asada taco before, but this one had good flavor, and there was plenty of meat. Needless to say, Hubby liked the tacos. We also had guacamole and chips, which was quite good. I had the chicken combo which came with rice and beans but the sauce was some sort of tomato sauce which tasted weird.
