I think the first time I went to this location maybe been the late 80's, I remember riding my bike there. I have always been happy with my food, usually order tacos or burrito Asada or Pastor. About a month ago I sent my wife in there and she got me a burrito and she had nachos, she specifically asked for no onion. When she got home the nachos were piled high with onions. My wife is one that does not look at prices, she just charges it. I did not realize the price increase. I went yesterday to get a wet burrito and it came to $15. Free parking. Affordable tacos. I recommend the nachos but half order to share if you plan to order other items. The nachos are huge. Every bite is filled with meat, tomatoes, onions, and meat. Sour cream and guacamole are on the side. My favorite tacos are the AL pastor and lengua. If you look at the tacos they load up on meat. Tried a carnitas taco...$2.29. King taco has nothing to worry about. The meat was dry as were the corn tortillas. The salsa couldnt save this desert of a snack. I purchased a Groupon from Los Tacos after noticing Carne a la Tampiqueña on the menu. A few things have changed since then, as the San Gabriel location lost their lease, and several items including the special dish I wanted are not available at the Pasadena location. Technically, I can order a carne asada plate and add a cheese enchilada to create "Carne a la Tampiqueña", but the $16 price tag would be unreasonably high. Moreover, customer photos of the carne asada being diced into small pieces (probably pre-made for burritos and tacos) made it less appetizing, so I ended up ordering something else instead. I had the chicken mole plate, shredded beef taquitos, a chile verde taco, and a carnitas taco. Some of the food was pretty terrible, some were ok. The mole poblano was one-note sweet, weak hints of nutty or bittersweet flavors to counteract the sweetness. The accompanying rice was clumpy and the four pieces of chips tossed in were obviously stale. The shredded beef taquitos were sufficiently crispy, paired with creamy guacamole that was slightly brown although OK on the salt level. The tacos were pretty awful, no distinct flavor for either the chile verde pork and carnitas. No crispy ends for the carnitas. Definitely not worth $2.10 per street-sized taco. Each taco was assembled with a solo tortilla that crumbled very easily. At regular price, the food is far too expensive for the quality. With a Groupon, it was more tolerable, although in my opinion, Los Tacos still isn't a place worth driving out for. The cashier is incompetent - argumentative and overall unhappy . She takes turns arguing with the customers and the cooks and back and forth. LOVE this taco place. It's a little hide-away off Fair Oaks, on the west side of the street. You can usually park in front of the store. Walk in, order, pay, and the food will be brought to you in about 10 minutes. Our regular obsessions: Hard shell taco with beef ($2.25 each) Fish taco ($1.75 each)-- this is my most favorite, I always have to have 3 or 4! Juicy, delicious, not greasy. I am writing this review for the catering service they provided for a family birthday celebration. Believe me when I write this crowd has high standards, given that part of this family once owned a Mexican family restaurant in La Crescenta for 25 years. First off, I opted for the Birria, and tacos El Pastor opposed to typical carne asada. The meat was flavorful and meat was of good quality. AND served hot! The salsas were fresh and the guacamole was the REAL Guac with chunks of avocado. The taquitos appetizers had enough meat and quesadillas were made on the spot and were quickly consumed.I had to tell guests to slow down, because the main meal was still going to be served. Best part was the customer service that was provided. Fidel the owner came a few days before the event to scout out area for set up. Then on the day of event, Mateo and Benjamin came in the morning to set up and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the decorations (which they provided) and that I my expectations were met. During the party Benjamin made sure the serving trays were never empty and even helped in taking plates away. He was very professional and made it easy on me (as host) to interact with guests. Everyone was very impressed with food and presentation and SERVICE! We have had a Taquero cater one other party and obviously we were not that impressed. Difference between night and day. This is a well-worn but clean restaurant. We've visited a few times and I inevitably get the same two item combo plate, soft taco with the marinated beef, chicken mini burrito. By the time I've inhaled the flan I am ready to roll out the door because it's delicious and filling food. I wish the pork had more of a pull-pork texture; the meat was more on the dry side. The horchata had all the right flavors, but it was a little watered down for my taste. I've read from previous reviews that the place serves watered down salsas, but from my experience, I have to disagree and say that their salsas are thick in body and each salsas are bold in their flavors and spiciness, especially the hot and extra hot salsas. All in all, I was satisfied with the meal. It was great. The place was clean and the service was nice, fast, and friendly. I am just curious about how the place fares when it's a bit busier.
