As a Hispanic, places like these are a must. Came here around a year ago for the first time and again today after a convention. The plates are delicious. Their huevos rancheros are a delicious breakfast plate that always gives a feeling a nostalgia from home. Their street tacos and burritos are also pretty good, packed with rice and beans and cebolla (onion) and cilantro. The perfect craving. There are tons of things I haven't tried yet but it's a charming little place to dine in or take out in beautiful Pasadena. Definitely will return. But just as everyone else on this page has been saying, the items are a bit overpriced. A burrito usually goes for $8-$8.50 anywhere else, but here it's $13.50. If you're willing to try be willing to spend at least $5 more on food entrees than the regular prices that you're used to. And whoever said the staff isn't friendly, it's because they aren't fluent in English. I chopped it up with the lady in the front in our native Spanish language and she was the kindest soul ever. Don't laugh at someone who speaks broken English because they can sure as hell speak another language fluently. read more

The service was completely trash here. We came as soon as they opened and none of the tables were cleaned. We asked the girl to clean the table and literally only cleaned one side, only one time. The girl taking orders has a nasty attitude. Food quality was okay but for price, I've had better. 0/10 recommend. read more

The food was underwhelming, lacked flavor, and was overpriced given the quality of the tacos and burritos. I paid over $100, whereas I typically spend $90 at other places with much higher quality food. read more

Substandard, overpriced "street" tacos. The tacos are small, about a 4-inch radius, and cost about $4.75. The carnitas were dry and lacking flavor. My husband ordered a fish taco and a chicken taco and commented he couldn't tell the difference. The salsas are meh. There are way better tacos to be found in Pasadena. We thought we'd try something different. We prefer Guisados, but even that's asking too much for a little taco for ants. read more

All you People who are complaining about the price increase, this business NEVER CLOSED during the SCAMDEMIC. Their quality has NEVER DROPPED. I have been a customer for twenty years, and I love the people and the food. You should THANK THEM for maintaining a quality business. read more

Horrible! Only gringos eat here because they don't know any better. Horrible customer service. I want my almost $12 back. I cannot believe they can afford rent in Pasadena. At least let customers know that we have to get our own salsa? My huevos rancheros were so plain and the chilaquiles so nasty. The only good thing is that the flour tortillas were made by hand. Never again! I should have trusted my instinct again! read more

Place has went all the way down hill.. prices are also ridiculous!!! This review is mainly about the food. How are you going to charge 4 bucks for a regular sized soft taco. Prices here have gone up like crazy. Ordered the taco special of 4 asada soft tacos which came out to over 13 bucks not including any sides or drink. Tacos were extremely bland the meat was awful and partially burned. For 4 dollars per taco felt like I was eating mystery meat. The best part of the taco was probably the onions and cilantro. Decent salsa bar here though. This place flaunts that it has won awards. PSA there awards are from the late 90's/early 2000's when there food was actually decent, pre social media and when there was not a lot of competition in the SGV. This place wouldn't even come top 100 in anything present day. Service is okay. Clean restaurant with decent decor. Overall huge waste of money for the price. read more

The accolades and newspaper clippings on the wall share high expectations for this place, and my experience here barely touched it. I came here on a whim hoping something new could break the cycle of delicious food trucks, and I was dead wrong. Walking into this Mexican-inspired artwork decorated walls, I was suspiciously lured into ordering a pair of the famous potato tacos. There were only two other people in the taco joint waiting for their food the time I was there, yet my simple order was forgotten. Never mind the twenty minutes delay, because the food itself was really disappointing too. The unimpressive HARD SHELL POTATO TACOS felt like a lightweight, flavorless slap of mush -- devoid of love, and crumbling apart after the first bite. Why this was advertised as the crown jewel of this corner shop I not know, and sadly I left finding this dish and the rest of the menu as uninspired as the restaurant's name. Do yourself a favor and walk to any nearby taco truck if you can! Food: 2/5 Service: 2/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Environment: 3/5 read more

Quick and delicious. I needed a quick bite. I ordered the mini chicken burrito which was not so mini for me. The chicken was tender and appeared to have been part of a braised stew. It was full of flavor and tender. Will definitely be coming back to try other items. read more

The prices... PLEASE READ BEFORE COMING. Moved into the area a year ago from a place where I had a plethora of Mexican restaurants. Living here I have virtually no options besides the taco trucks. Not having cash I had no choice but to come to this spot. The first thing I noticed... THE PRICES!!! Wow. Basically 5 dollars for 1 taco. This restaurant is taking advantage of the area and the hospitals and business around here to cash in. As someone who knows good Mexican spots, and what the prices should look like. This place is a no go. Don't recommend. I paid ..... 15 DOLLARS FOR A BURRITO. Bland. The salsa saves it but it's watered down. They're cutting corners here. Please. Go to an ATM and get tacos from the taco trucks a block away. You've been warned. My Mexican peeps, you know to stay away lol. read more

I have always passed by this place on my way to my bank and finally I made the stop. I honestly wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt based on their outside banner stating that they have been ranked high by three different reviewers in the SGV. I took my son with me and we both love tacos and burritos. We ordered the "Al Pastor " burrito and I just had a feeling that I was going to be disappointed, don't really know why I had that feeling. I wanted them to surprise me and prove me wrong but I was right and unfortunately I was really disappointed with the taste of the food. Their meat flavor was salty and dry. My son told me that the flavor was as if they just used taco flavor mix to "marinate" the pork meat and I agree with him. It was salty and it had no Al Pastor flavor, the meat felt hard and chewy. I give them a 3 out 10, and I will not come back here again, unfortunately! read more

So I've lived in the are for 7yrs, always wanted to try this place, was shocked at their prices and wish I read these reviews BEFORE I walked in. I ordered a lunch combo plate "to go" 1 taco, 1 cheese enchilada + rice and beans Total $19.00! plus I gave a 15% tip It's Mexican food, not a steak dinner! Was hoping I'd be impressed with the food at least, for the prices and "Voted best Taco" sign out front WRONG. The food was just "okay" the salsa was tasteless. Never again. Should have gone up the street and got better authentic Mexican food for 1/2 the price at El Taquito on Hunington or even a taco truck for $6! read more

As a Mexican I give this place a 3 and a half stars...I'm thinking round it up to 4 for good service and easy parking. The food here is so/so. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but it was good for a one time lunch. The prices here are way more than I would ever pay for mexican food. Maybe because it's in Pasadena? Not sure, either way if this place was about two dollars a plate less then maybe I would recommend it. For what it was, maybe I'll be back if I'm like a block away. :) read more

I've been three times in the past couple months. First time I said I don't understand how this place wins awards. Went back a second time out of necessity and it was excellent. Went back tonight to see if it was really that good and it was again. I will stand these tacos up against any around. Each of the different meats were very good and the price is right. I stand corrected, this place is legit and I'm pumped because it's close to home. read more

Amazing service, these workers are so kind and make sure you're taken care of. Food is also always excellent and quickly served!

I've driven by Los Tacos so many times but never stopped to check it out until recently. I had time, there were no cars behind me, the parking lot looked empty, I was hungry from running errands so it seemed like the perfect time to try it out. I ordered the asada nachos and a potato hard shell taco that was recommended by the very nice girl at the register. I enjoyed my food at home, though I liked the table I was sitting at while I was waiting for my order to be ready. Salsas and extras are self-help at the bar across from the register. I liked the bright colors and the pretty tiles of the interior. I would probably come back someday to try other items off their menu or to possibly order the same thing, though I'm not in any rush. read more

$19.53 for a Quesidilla combo?!?! No drink, no guacamole and literally a drizzle of sour cream. INFLATION IS GOING TO TAKE THESE OWNERS LIFESTYLE AWAY. YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED CHARING THOSE PRICES. Look, I understand you probably lost a ton of money being even more greedy when you opened that Walnut failure. But, trying to recuperate all your losses on 1 Quesidilla is probably not the answer. Had I not called the order in, I would have happily left and never come back. I hope this place suffers the same fate. With thier cheesy "best taco" in Pasadena signs. I first visited Los Tacos ages ago. Whether people recognize or not, this place is a classic Mexican restaurant. I personally don't put it in "hole in the wall" category. However, it is a takeout type of place, pandemic or not. They do have interior and exterior seating. You should know it's no frills. Decided to visit today for lunch. Whether you like the food or not, one thing's certain: Mexican people consistently come here to get food. I take this as positive validation. My favorites over the decades have remained the same. Large carne asada nachos. Combo plate with chicken enchiladas, beans, rice and a bit of lettuce. Or else the vegetarian burrito. I love Mexican food. Whether it's King Taco (almost any location except Old Town Pasadena) all the way to upscale places like Javier's Newport Coast restaurant location. Remember everyone, there's a whole entire spectrum of Mexican cuisine. Los Tacos is perfect for take out. Just don't be an ass and get hoity toity or overly judgmental like some of the negative reviews here. Sometimes the cashier line or service level is a pain. Mistakes happen. Today I called in my order. They said the food would be ready in 5 minutes. However, I was stuck in the cashier line for 20 minutes after arrival. The cashier was getting bogged down with each individual customer for some reason. It took the cashier 20 minutes to get through 4 customers. This is a mom and pop type of place. I'm actually pleasantly surprised you can use Apple or Google Pay. They've accepted credit cards for a long time. But I think they would prefer to be all cash. Los Tacos isn't mind-blowing Michelin rated cuisine like French Laundry. So keep your expectations in order, and you'll find that their food is extremely consistent. I know. I've visited during the last 35 years. read more

This place was not what I was expecting. If you want authentic Mexican tacos, this is not the spot. First off, let's talk about the potato tacos....worst potato tacos I have ever had in my life!! Literally had no flavor, and the salsa had no kick and was extremely watered down. The chicken tacos were bland, and this was due to the meat having no seasoning. What lured me in was a sign that stated it was voted best tacos in Pasadena....by who? I would vote them the worst tacos in Pasadena. If you want authentic Mexican tacos that are delicious, there's a taco truck down the street named "Arturo's", now that lil taco truck never disappoints and is less expensive. Also, the customer service was horrible, the lady up front had so much attitude. So the service and food sucked, like it just kept going downhill from the moment I walked in. This was such a waste of time and money, I took one bite, and ended up throwing the tacos away in the trash. The food was straight garbage! Oh and by the way staff is Salvadorian, not Mexican. I don't know why they advertise as Mexican! I wouldn't have a problem with this if they knew how to cook Mexican food, but unfortunately they do not! read more

I don't know why people give this place a bad review. It's a perfect little hole in the wall ...or...as much as a little hole in the wall can be in Pasadena! I thought it was well seasoned. Their rocket salsa was super spicy. Hurt as much going in as it did out the other end. I had their soft taco - chicken and beef. It was like street tacos but better. Tasted like your grandma made it in her kitchen. The highlight was definitely the avocado salsa which thank god did not burn my mouth like the rocket salsa. I wasn't that impressed with their nachos for some reason....it tasted bland. I had no issues with the service or staff. The place was nice and clean. It was an upscale taco truck. read more

I finally tried this place for the first time after being in the area for years. First off, it's overpriced. For 4 soft tacos, 1 hard shell taco and a quesadilla, I paid $30. Service review: Been coming here for awhile and loved the tacos. Recently they shorted me 2 lengua tacos. So I called and let them know. They told me to go back. So I drove all the way back so my husband can finish his dinner. They told me, "he said he put the right amount of lengua tacos", "we will give it to you this time".... What does that mean? Why would a customer lie about 2 specific tacos missing? And "this time"? As if I ever complained about a taco before... The guy In back spoke in Spanish as if I don't know what he is saying. Then she told me "well that's what he said, bye" I don't want your free food! I can afford it and then some, but don't treat people like criminals especially when I doubt the guy in back even remembers because I ordered a lot of tacos. Don't come here unless you like being called a liar and dismissed as if your business means nothing. Horrible horrible way to treat a customer especially one who buys large orders frequently for the past few years. Bye Los tacos! read more

After driving past this place for years, my kids and I decided to finally stop in and have lunch about two months ago. So glad we did! I have been searching for a great, authentic taco shop in the area for years and this hits on all levels. We have since been back five or six times and my friends who I have brought and my girlfriend all agree that the tacos are incredible, the service is great and the fact that you get free chips with the salsa bar is an amazing bonus. I think it's a shame, to be completely honest, that there are so many people on here bashing the prices over the past 6 to 12 months. We just got out of a pandemic people and every establishment in the world, especially restaurants, has had their rent and cost of food and supplies increased. I'm not sure you understand how basic business economics work, but when their costs go up, menu items have to increase a bit for them to stay above water. This seems like a family owned establishment and we have always been treated with respect, kindness and incredible food every time we've gone in, and I'm sorry... The potato tacos are to die for. Two for seven dollars and they always leave you happy and satisfied. Not sure about you, but seven dollars for two tacos is a pretty legit deal to me. read more

I don't know how you can screw up a chicken quesadilla, but this place did it. Not only was it over priced but it had peas, carrots and lima beans in it? Kind of like they drained a chicken soup and threw it in a quesadilla. Monitoring if I have food poisoning, it was really gross. read more

I've been coming here for years and I've always enjoyed what I've ordered. I've had the taquitos which is one of my faves with Horchata to wash it down. Today, I had the carnitas tacos, but my meat was a little dry and had to put the salsa to work. I love the nachos another one of my staples here. I noticed that I see a few cooks back there, but no one is really cooking. Not sure how fresh the food is if it's reheated. Right? I still think the food is pretty tasty. I'll be back again soon. read more

I do not understand the other reviews. Then again, I always go to Los Tacos for their Carnitas Nachos. Two people can share one order of Carnitas Nachos. It's filled with meat, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, onions and beans. I ask them to hold the cilantro and green onions, because I'm not a fan of the two. I have been going to Los Tacos for about 6 years, and the quality of the Carnitas Nachos has not changed. It is AWESOME. When I have guests that tell me they want to have Mexican food, Los Tacos is my first choice for nachos. I also love that they have tamarindo and horchata. read more
