Prices here have gone up like crazy. Ordered the taco special of 4 asada soft tacos which came out to over 13 bucks not including any sides or drink. Tacos were extremely bland the meat was awful and partially burned. For 4 dollars per taco felt like I was eating mystery meat. The best part of the taco was probably the onions and cilantro. Decent salsa bar here though. This place flaunts that it has won awards. PSA there awards are from the late 90's/early 2000's when there food was actually decent, pre social media and when there was not a lot of competition in the SGV. My wife brought me to Los Tacos in Pasadena for lunch this my first time at this restaurant my wife have been at Los Tacos with her co workers from work. My wife tells me the food is really good including the tacos. It's a very little restaurant and seeing people coming in and going to the restaurant I was telling the food is good here. We were looking at the menu and see what to order my wife decided to order the two chili renello plate and I decided to get the super chili renello burrito. I got the food my burrito was pretty big I don't know what else they add in the super chili renello burrito I know its going to be very tasty. My wife chili renello looks very good next I have order the chili renello plate. One bite of thr super chili renello burrito wow amazing flavors in this burrito and cheese is oozing out that's a chili renello suppose to be I really enjoy it. I have always passed by this place on my way to my bank and finally I made the stop. I honestly wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt based on their outside banner stating that they have been ranked high by three different reviewers in the SGV. I took my son with me and we both love tacos and burritos. We ordered the "Al Pastor " burrito and I just had a feeling that I was going to be disappointed, don't really know why I had that feeling. I wanted them to surprise me and prove me wrong but I was right and unfortunately I was really disappointed with the taste of the food. Their meat flavor was salty and dry. My son told me that the flavor was as if they just used taco flavor mix to "marinate" the pork meat and I agree with him. It was salty and it had no Al Pastor flavor, the meat felt hard and chewy. I've driven by Los Tacos so many times but never stopped to check it out until recently. I had time, there were no cars behind me, the parking lot looked empty, I was hungry from running errands so it seemed like the perfect time to try it out. I ordered the asada nachos and a potato hard shell taco that was recommended by the very nice girl at the register. I enjoyed my food at home, though I liked the table I was sitting at while I was waiting for my order to be ready. Salsas and extras are self-help at the bar across from the register. I liked the bright colors and the pretty tiles of the interior. Whether it's King Taco (almost any location except Old Town Pasadena) all the way to upscale places like Javier's Newport Coast restaurant location. Remember everyone, there's a whole entire spectrum of Mexican cuisine. Los Tacos is perfect for take out. Just don't be an ass and get hoity toity or overly judgmental like some of the negative reviews here. Sometimes the cashier line or service level is a pain. Mistakes happen. Today I called in my order. They said the food would be ready in 5 minutes. However, I was stuck in the cashier line for 20 minutes after arrival. The cashier was getting bogged down with each individual customer for some reason. It took the cashier 20 minutes to get through 4 customers. This is a mom and pop type of place. I'm actually pleasantly surprised you can use Apple or Google Pay. They've accepted credit cards for a long time. But I think they would prefer to be all cash. Los Tacos isn't mind-blowing Michelin rated cuisine like French Laundry. So keep your expectations in order, and you'll find that their food is extremely consistent. I know. Literally had no flavor, and the salsa had no kick and was extremely watered down. The chicken tacos were bland, and this was due to the meat having no seasoning. What lured me in was a sign that stated it was voted best tacos in Pasadena....by who? I would vote them the worst tacos in Pasadena. If you want authentic Mexican tacos that are delicious, there's a taco truck down the street named "Arturo's", now that lil taco truck never disappoints and is less expensive. Also, the customer service was horrible, the lady up front had so much attitude. So the service and food sucked, like it just kept going downhill from the moment I walked in. I don't know why people give this place a bad review. It's a perfect little hole in the wall ...or...as much as a little hole in the wall can be in Pasadena! I thought it was well seasoned. Their rocket salsa was super spicy. Hurt as much going in as it did out the other end. I had their soft taco - chicken and beef. It was like street tacos but better. Tasted like your grandma made it in her kitchen. The highlight was definitely the avocado salsa which thank god did not burn my mouth like the rocket salsa. There were only two other people in the taco joint waiting for their food the time I was there, yet my simple order was forgotten. The unimpressive HARD SHELL POTATO TACOS felt like a lightweight, flavorless slap of mush -- devoid of love, and crumbling apart after the first bite. After driving past this place for years, my kids and I decided to finally stop in and have lunch about two months ago. So glad we did! I have been searching for a great, authentic taco shop in the area for years and this hits on all levels. We have since been back five or six times and my friends who I have brought and my girlfriend all agree that the tacos are incredible, the service is great and the fact that you get free chips with the salsa bar is an amazing bonus. I think it's a shame, to be completely honest, that there are so many people on here bashing the prices over the past 6 to 12 months. We just got out of a pandemic people and every establishment in the world, especially restaurants, has had their rent and cost of food and supplies increased. I'm not sure you understand how basic business economics work, but when their costs go up, menu items have to increase a bit for them to stay above water. This seems like a family owned establishment and we have always been treated with respect, kindness and incredible food every time we've gone in, and I'm sorry... The potato tacos are to die for. Service review: Been coming here for awhile and loved the tacos. Recently they shorted me 2 lengua tacos. So I called and let them know. They told me to go back. So I drove all the way back so my husband can finish his dinner. They told me, "he said he put the right amount of lengua tacos", "we will give it to you this time".... What does that mean? Why would a customer lie about 2 specific tacos missing? And "this time"? As if I ever complained about a taco before... The guy In back spoke in Spanish as if I don't know what he is saying. Then she told me "well that's what he said, bye" I don't want your free food! I've been coming here for years and I've always enjoyed what I've ordered. I've had the taquitos which is one of my faves with Horchata to wash it down. Today, I had the carnitas tacos, but my meat was a little dry and had to put the salsa to work. I love the nachos another one of my staples here. I do not understand the other reviews. Then again, I always go to Los Tacos for their Carnitas Nachos. Two people can share one order of Carnitas Nachos. It's filled with meat, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, onions and beans. I ask them to hold the cilantro and green onions, because I'm not a fan of the two. I have been going to Los Tacos for about 6 years, and the quality of the Carnitas Nachos has not changed. It is AWESOME. When I have guests that tell me they want to have Mexican food, Los Tacos is my first choice for nachos. I also love that they have tamarindo and horchata. read more
