The place is small so you can feel the AC really well. I would have gave this place a 5 star but unfortunately, the staff missed out on the customer service part. The staff member that was taking my order got distracted and lost connection of my presence. My order was 3 tacos (grilled chicken, al pastor, and azada) and let me tell you- the meat had great marination and it was juicy. The tacos come with cilantro, onions and they also add beans; which I didn't mind at all! Once my order was ready, I was asked if I wanted salsa; so I picked the green salsa- and OMG- the salsa is amazing, it feels creamy and a great balance of heat level, so the tacos taste really good. I will go back if I am in the area.

Great food: frescas, entrees and desserts…read more I ordered lengua , pork belly and shrimp cheese tacos. I loved the crunchiness of the pork belly and the flavor. The lengua taco had meat that was tender and delicious. Both tacos were lightly seasoned and not hot. The shrimp cheese taco was my least favorite. The shrimps were small and had no flavor. There was a lot of cheese, but again there was no real flavor that made you want to order it again. I believe if they used large grilled shrimp and no cheese , but grilled onions, this taco would be a hit. The tacos came either a side of avocados, different peppers and sliced radishes. The frescas were made in-house: hibiscus, watermelon and cantaloupe. I ordered the cantaloupe fresca and it was refreshing with just amount of sweetness . My husband ordered the birria tacos and he definitely would ordered them again. He ordered the hibiscus fresca and said it was very good. He wants to go back and try more of their food. We ordered churros which were made in house. They tasted like the churros we had in Barcelona. We want to order this again. Everyone who came with us enjoyed what they ordered. Overall, Tacos El Patron was a wonderful experience because of the quality of their food. We hope to return very soon.

Feb 2 2025 3.5 stars…read more Lately our go to Mexican eats is Cinco De Mayo in Martinez. Christians-smh. It is Sunday and Cinco is closed. The server and service here at Isla was perfect. I pointed out to he waiter that he had a crumb on his chin and he wiped and chuckled like a nice champ. The music is pleasant but a bit louder than needed so I brought out the earplugs. The entire indoor setup is nice. Our food is arriving after what seems like a long wait meaning either the food is being served fresh, hot and tasty, or we are in for a mediocre experience. Our two plates arrived. Chilli relleno and Grilled chicken enchilada. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the smallish squair white plates. Reminds me of trying to look upscale. We own plates like these and that didn't work. Wife's enchilada plate was covered with three hot and very tasty chicken filled food bombs plus sides. The chili plate looked a little weak (too much plate showing) but that was the tastiest chilli relleno ever in 40 years of me enjoying these. Served hot with cheese filled up to the ying yang, an extra spiciness I have never had before that I loved and me wishing I had a spoon to scrape up the end of the sauce. Unfortunately the smallish rice and bean servings on both plates were luke warm and tasted so so. . I had similar hotter to those with tv dinners back in the day. The two plates and a coke at $43 has me scratching my chin on whether we will make that drive again. That is unless it is Sunday. Then possibly. .

After giving it some thought, I decided to return and explore what it was about Isla that everyone raved over. This time around, I ordered the fish tacos, and I was hooked! Isla's fish tacos are phenomenal--easily the best in the area and a must-have every single time. I usually go for the tilapia, though I've sampled the red snapper as well. They come out super crispy on the outside yet remain incredibly moist inside, with the salsa and toppings melding together perfectly. I also visited their new location today and was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking and comfortable seating. The space is beautiful, making it even more enjoyable to stop by for those irresistible fish tacos. Here's a quick rundown of my ratings: Fish (all varieties): 8.7/10 Birria: 7/10 (good, but not their standout item) Carne Asada Super Burrito: 5.8/10 When it comes to satisfying my fish taco cravings, Isla remains the only choice.

Just please slow down a bit and don't make people feel rushed to leave. And also the tops to our to go lids did not fit our server knew that and we HAD TO ASK for different lids and she said "oh we normally use foil sheets" so then why not bring the foil sheets out to us to use? And when we did order our desert we asked for the CARAMEL churros and she brings us it with Chocolate....when I asked for the caramel and not the chocolate she said "oh we don't have caramel, but it still says that on the menu" not even really an apology either to that. I did start out to give this a 4 start but due to the experience of feeling rushed, I'm giving it a 3 star. Food again was cooked so so well! Yea after careful consideration and not being the only one who noticed lol this place is kinda racist. It was VERY obvious how my mother in law and i were treated compared to the other customers.
