Still a great place for lunch with their lunch specials. The service is excellent and the price is unbeatable with $11 for lunch!!! I just love this place.

Traveled here to specifically try this Colombian restaurant, 1 1/2 hours from the Winston area. I wanted to try several items on the menu, but very definitely the Bandeja Tipica Colombiano and the Ajiaco (chicken and potato soup), probably will find some others and go family style. The Bandeja is a dish I've had a number of times, the most recent at Los Muelles in Clemmons, where it was good, but definitely not great. While versions of this dish are served in several South American, and Central American countries, and Mexico, it is most closely associated with Columbia, especially in Medellin and surrounding area. It is considered by many to be the national dish of Columbia. This is very much a protein rich dish that will get you through the entire day, and maybe part of the next morning. As with all such traditional ethnic dishes, there are a number of variations, a number of which will take you quite a distance from an authentic version. Among the items most often included in this platter are white rice, beans (often pintos), red sausage (chorizo), black sausage (blood sausage), sweet plantains, Chicharron, avocado, fried egg, and beef, in some form! These items are prepared separately, for the most part, and then assembled on the platter for serving. In the USA, the beef I've been served is a grilled slice of either skirt or flank steak, often well marinated, well grilled. But that is not the traditional way in which the beef is prepared and served in most places outside the USA. In the traditional versions the beef is either ground (a food processor will work) or it is powdered - yeap, powdered! It is called carne en polvo, while the ground beef is carne molina. The process for each is much more labor intensive than throwing a slab of steak on a flattop, one on the reason it is relatively rare in the US. At this spot you can choose to have the beef minced, and it is quite tasty - a very nice surprise, for sure. We chose the Bandeja Tipica Mixta, Ajiaco, Garlic Shrimp, and Beef Empadas. The first three were excellent and rather plentiful, while the empadas were tasty, the filling was a bit lacking in quantity. All in all, a good experience, though the service was a bit inconsistent.

We traveled from Columbia, Sc via NYC to come here, we are on the Hunt for the Best Empanadas America has to offer and we're Excited to say we weren't disappointed . Portion sizes and Authentic seasoning made it a 10 outta 10 definitely come agn. Matched what We imagined of Colombian cuisine's rich flavors. The empanadas, small and definitely NOT homemade . I give it a 5 outta 10 Might not buy Agn. But Highly recommended For everyone to come and get a great taste of Columbia . Food: 7/10 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 Recommended dishes Camarones Al Ajillo $13.50 Jumbo shrimp in butter and garlic sauce. Served with, rice and green plantains. Mango Drink

Stopped by this great little Columbian restaurant. It is a little small but the atmosphere is great. I ordered the empanada appetizer and the arroz con pollo entree. Both were delicious. I look forward to trying more off their menu. Service was good as well. Food came out in a short time and the food was hot.

Love coming to Los Paisas for some fried fish! Great service, all the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is a bit chilly if you are dining in so bring a sweater!

This spot was recommended a few times so had to give it a try. Looking at the menu, they had my "ol' faithful" so, being my first time there, I had to get it. Bandeja Tipica Colombiana First off, this is a large meal, so I'm always ready to eat it but theirs is HUGE. That plate was way bigger than I thought, so we were off to a great start. PLUS the cost! It was a good bit lower than some of the other places I like. The rice, beans, and Egg. GREAT. The steak, sausage, plantain, and chicharron. AWESOME. More than on par with other restaurants. I like my drinks a lil hard. The Top Shelf Margaritas were definitely my speed. Great balance, especially for those who like to actually tell there's tequila in it. My lady had a similar dish. Steak, rice, beans, and plantain. It seems like their sauces and condiments are freshly made. The chimichurri was sooo good. All in all, a great place for families as well as dates.

I've driven by this plaza several times and never thought to stop at the restaurants. By far, top 3 latin food spot in Charlotte. Ambiance is family and casual. No frills decorations, you want solid, fresh, perfectly seasoned Colombian food, look no further than Los Paisas. I had the Bandeja Colombiana Mixta (or plato paisa in other places) this one added a side of minced meat. Washed it down with jugo de maracuyá (passion fruit) freshly squeezed. I left a stuffed monkey, so much so that I skipped dessert, options being flan de caramelo and tres leches cake. That's for next time. Support local

We've been going here since it opened. It's one of my very favorite restaurants in this end of town. Monday through Friday they have a wonderful lunch menu. The food is spectacular. On the weekends. It is the regular menu. It's actually hard to pick something because everything is so good. And the staff is wonderful. They do have a new steak New York strip. We got it a couple of weeks ago. All kinds of flavor. It's a spot for you and your family. Once you go here, you'll be mad that you haven't been here before.

The garlic shrimp was tasty. I love garlic so for someone that's not as much a fan. I wouldn't recommend this dish. The sauce was perfect! Sometimes by the time it gets to the table it separates. This did not and was fantastic. The tostones were not my thing. We had a group and the service was fabulous. They were patient in explaining what came with each dish. There was no issue with receiving individual bills. It's a little hole in the wall by a WalMart and next to Bonchon chicken.

In my opinion, this is the best Columbian restaurant in Charlotte. Typically, I just get the mojarra whole fish or shrimp and rice with plantains. But last night, I decided to go all-out and get their bandeja tipica Columbiana plate. Look at all this food you get for $17 ! I also LOVE all their varieties of fruit drinks. Some fruits, I guarantee you, that you've never even heard of such as Lulo, Mamey, etc. We went as a group of 7. Two of us got the bandeja tipica Columbiana. I got the Mamey (for best flavor get the fruit drinks with a milk-base instead of the water-base). It was sensational. The idea of a perfectly poached egg on top of the grilled beef was incredible. I love their salsa verde. It definitely tastes like they make it in-house. I slathered my entire entree with that stuff. lol. The dish also comes with a huge quantity of tastey rice & beans, chicharron, a red sausage, avocado & a plantain. So good !!!! I challenge you to finish it, because I couldn't. Several folks got the garlic shrimp with tostones. They said they liked it, but noted it was very heavy on the garlic so you really need to like garlic. One got the shrimp and rice with plantains. Also very good and it was presented very well. I got a beef empanada for an appetizer. Highly recommend and make sure you slather that salsa verde on it. Soooo good !!! One of the gals got the sausage and arepa appetizer. I also got a Columbian soda, which tastes alot like cream soda. Note: They automatically add an 18% gratuity to larger groups. Our server was great. Btw... when making the reservation, I called the restaurant and a lady answered in Spanish. I went ahead and made the reservation in Spanish, since I speak enough to get by, but some folks may be intimidated. However, our waiter and 2 other folks I spoke with while dining spoke English well. This place is nestled into a corner of a strip mall next to a neighborhood Walmart and the Korean Restaurant Bonchon on Pineville-Matthews Rd. If you have not tried this place, you are definitely missing out.

Still maybe my favorite lunch place after 5 years. It's a little far away from my office but the service is so good we can still go and get back quickly. Simply amazing food all time. The kind of place where I could eat here everyday

Great location in south end near the light rail. We had a reservation for 6:30 and were seated promptly. The restaurant is gorgeous! I was in amazement walking to my seat. The host was about to sit us at a table, but we requested a booth and were accommodated. Our server was very nice and thoroughly explained the menu. We started off with the empanadas and I ordered my first virgin "pinny yolada" :). The empanadas were mind blowing! They were nice and hot, flavorful, and absolutely a delight! We were so impressed, we decided to order the double fried wings afterwards. The wings were good and had an interested flavor with the tamarind. After the wonderful appetizers, it was time for the entrees. I ordered the short rib yuca gnocchi and my friend the arroz con pollo. On paper the gnocchi sounded sublime, but in actuality it was lacking a lot. The entire dish lacked so much flavor, even with hot sauce, additional salt, and lime it tasted bland. I was very disappointed. The empanadas and service were a saving grace, I ordered two orders of empanadas to go for my family. However they were so expensive. I paid $14 for 3. Even though I loved the empanadas, I probably would not be back.
