Carne Empanada: 3/5 - Flavors were decent, but texture felt pretty mushy inside. The shell wasn't particularly flavorful and also could've been more crispy. Carne Asada Taco: 2/5 - Meat was ok but the taco shell was very disappointing (felt like it might've been steamed/microwaved instead of fried/pan seared). RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Definitely getting this again) 4 - Good (Would get it again) 3 - Ok (Might give it another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Quick service and the best steak tacos I've had in Charlotte so far! Located near the entrance of Camp North End, it's right there as you walk up. I will be returning.

Came here after a run and was a bit underwhelmed with the food. I did like the portion and the price but the taste was bland for me. I got the asada tacos and I expected more flavor from it but I didn't get it. The meat was juicy and tender and I appreciated that. I may come back and try another dish. Not sure. The service was chill and casual. I loved the outdoor seatings

REINA PEPIADA (chicken salad) and Arepa Rumbera with pork & cheese

The Venezuelan arepas are amazing, especially the one with chicken salad - REINA PEPIADA. I've got a friend from Maracay who introduced me to arepas, and will make arepas for me. Delicious food at a good price. I now want to try the other Latin dishes offered La Caseta.

One Saturday, I closed my kitchen, lol, to partake in some yummy tacos and got a savory introduction to pupusas. I visited the location at Camp North End. Since this restaurant is an outside food stall, the best time to go is when it's sunny and bright. You definitely don't want to get caught in the rain. What I tried: TACOS: The tacos have a traditional authentic taste and are big on flavor. Plus, you get a nice amount of meat for the price. AL PASTOR ($4.49)- Handmade Corn Tortillas with Adobo Pork, Onions, And Pineapple. Topped With Cilantro, Onion, Avocado Salsa ASADA ($4.95) - Handmade Corn Tortillas with Grilled Flap Meat. Topped with Avocado Salsa. Onion, Cilantro, Chimol (Roasted Veggie Salsa) PUPUSA: This was my first time eating a pupusa and it was what I call, the Oscar award winner. I loved the thickness of the corn tortilla and the combination of the ingredients in the filling was dynamic. I consider this item to be MANDATORY at all future visits. REVUELTAS ($3.95) - Handmade thick corn tortillas stuffed with Ground Pork, Cheese, and Refried Beans. Topped with Curtido Slaw and warm tomato sauce.

The Carne Empanada was one of the best empanadas I've had in Charlotte. It was filled with meat which is rare as I've found for an empanada. The tacos were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend trying both the Al Pastor & Asada Taco. The Reina Pepiada Arepas is stuffed with shredded chicken salad (avocado, sweet peas, mayo, spices) - yum! The Rumberas Arepas is stuffed with shredded pork and cheddar cheese.

Whenever I'm in Charlotte, I visit Camp Northend. I was hoping to get some vegan food, but being that it was a Tuesday, my place of choice was not open. So I went with La Caseta and it didn't disappoint. The menu is limited, which is understandable for a location like this. They need to be fast pace and knowing what they are providing makes it easier on them. However, I do wish they had a little more to offer. Or at least maybe a specialty item once or twice a week. The food is delicious. This is my second time eating here. I went with the Argentinian empanadas and the Venezuelan arepas. The empanadas are stuffed and very meaty. I'm always impressed with the amount of steak and veggies that they provided. Handheld, but I wouldn't advise eating it while you drive. You may make a mess. The arepas we're also heavily stuffed with shredded chicken salad and a mix of other things. So good it was hard to put it down. You must try for yourself.

Whoo hoo I found yet another spot that I will be visiting strictly for empanadas. Now I love me a good empanada.Best of all La Caseta is located in Camp north end food stalls so it's always some sort of entertainment of some sort going on there for the most part . We tried a variety of the food items from the tacos , empanadas, & chicken arepas . The chicken arepa also won me over big time .The dipping sauces adds a little extra spice to any and everything on their menu . You can't come here and not order a Jarritos to wash it all down with . When you go do it for the culture ! I'll definitely be sure to peep my head in here every time I'm in the area .

Finally made it to Camp North End to see Van Gogh. Afterwards we walked over to the cute food stalls to get lunch. After looking at the choices I wanted tacos. La Caseta is authentic and make their own shells. I started with two Al pastor tacos and had to go back for a third. The tacos were delicious and the pork was extremely flavorful. The service was quick! The tacos come individually without a side. There is outdoor seating all around the food stalls, so you can enjoy some fresh air.

After one meal here, we understood why. Calle Sol has a cool laid back vibe, great service, strong mojitos, and food that absolutely delivers. The ceviche is the star for a reason. Super fresh with bright flavor, and the crispy plantains alongside it were the perfect seafood fish combo. The skinny spicy margarita with the tajín rim and mojitos were excellent too. Our favorite was the Cuban rice. Rich flavor with this aioli on top that made everyone at the table keep stealing bites from each other. The vaca frita (beef) had great flavor with crispy edges done right, and the banana tres leches dessert was flat out dangerous. Easily enough for three people unless your family has zero self control. We don't really have Cuban food like this back home, so this felt like a treat. Safe to say our daughter picked a winner. We'll definitely be back next trip to Charlotte.

Pisco sour: definitely taste the alcohol. I enjoyed it. A little sweet. Not really sour or I couldn't taste it. Chichamora: spiced drink. Light tangy fruity flavor. Like a light punch. Fried yucca and cheesy: 4 stars. Yummy yucca balls filled with cheeses you have to eat hot for the gooey cheesiness but be careful because the are hot. Make sure to eat with the dip for next level flavor. Shrimp ceviche: 3.5 stars. Different toppings provided different flavors (I.e. crunchy corn, sweet potatoes, salty plaintains chips, & soft corn kernels) texture but I wished there was more shrimp and a slight more acidity or lime juice. Also some of the fried corn kernels were burnt so it had bitter taste. Vaca Frita:Garlic/onion shredded braised beef. 4.5 stars. Came with beans, rice, and yucca mash. Overall the flavors were good and I really enjoyed it.

The Columbian Bakery+Restaurant has operated in this same storefront for around 20 years but I have never stopped in. I am not particularly familiar with Columbian-style foods and I did not feel there was anything that I would like from their "bakery". Boy, I do not think I have ever been more wrong about anything in my life...memories of past boyfriends start to creep in slowly-haha! I am currently obsessed with Statesville's Columbian Bakery+Restaurant! Yes, I said it! Not slightly obsessed, completely obsessed! I have patronized this business twice this week already and I plan to go there again before the weekend is over! The food is amazingly and authentically appetizing! To date, I have experienced the yummy goodness that is their Beef Empanadas, Tostones, Maduros, and my current foodie crush, Pan de Bonos. Each and every food item is fresh made to order except of course, for the bakery items BUT the bakery items are fresh made daily. The Beef Empanadas are a little meat-filled hand pie and they are so delicious! The pie consists of a thin cornmeal-type crust wrapped around the meat filling then deep fried. The meat filling is finely chopped or minced beef with small bits of potato (another reviewer said, beans, idk which it is but they're delicious) mixed in. It sounds heavy but it is actually quite light because the consistency of the filling is so fine and the outer crust is so thin. These yummies are so good, you cannot eat just one! The Tostones are smashed and fried green plantains. These are a salty side which taste like potatoes and they pair very well with the empanadas. The Maduros are fried ripe plantain chunks. I have had these before at other Latin restaurants and I do love them! The maduros from Columbian Bakery+Restaurant did not disappoint! They are just as good as any I've had and maybe just a little better because they are so fresh when you get them! These are a sweet side with just a hint of tartness. They pair well with any of the spicy foods served at this restaurant but I always eat them as a dessert! My favorite, the Pan de Bonos, are a bakery item but I was lucky enough to stop by when pan after pan of these little delectable puff balls were coming out hot and fresh from the oven. Yesssss! Who doesn't love a light and fluffy cheese bread ball?!? Cheese and Bread! Sign me up every time! But not to worry these addictive little things reheat really well in the microwave. I know because I ordered a dozen on my last visit! I cannot wait to go back to this Columbian paradise right in the heart of Statesville and try out more of their food offerings!
