Have you ever had a Michoacan hot dog? As fate would have it, the northern-Mexican treats we know and love by the names of "Sonoran dog" and "Sinoloan dog" appear to have migrated down the west coast of Mexico to Michoacán, and pretty much intact at that. The nice folks at Los Michoacanos serve up the equivalent of a standard Sinoloan dog (a Sonoran dog with a buttered and grilled bun), and they do a perfectly fine job of it. There's not really much to say here since you can get essentially the same product all over town, but if you're in the area and want a Sinoloan (sorry -- "Michoacano") dog, it probably wouldn't be worth driving anywhere else. If you're looking to try one for your first time and want to get the ideal experience, though, I'd say to check out one of the other stands I've reviewed in my Tucson Food Carts list.
As far as distinguishing features go, I thought there was a good level of spiciness here, and I also thought the bun could have used a bit more toasting. But to their credit, I saw the guy who was running the stand press the buns down on the grill and fiddle with the knobs -- standard signs of a cook whose cooking surface has cooled down unexpectedly. So maybe you'd have better luck than I did. Anyway, that's about all I've got. read more
