Salsa is not free, but it really brings the . Pretty quiet in there, no TVs or anything which can make more a quaint time. There's not really servers at this location, as you pay up front. Pricing is outstanding in comparison to the competition. A bit of some odd smells in the restaurant. Combo plate was absolutely smacking. I gotta give them credit for having such great food. 4/5

I've been coming to Los Compas for many years now! Great food that never disappoints! Was kinda shocked to find out the chips and salas weren't free anyone. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some great Mexican food!

Los Compas has been a mainstay in las cruces since I was in high school. The food is delicious and the decor is uniquely southern New Mexico. My favorite is the gorditas. I have yet to find another restaurant that compares. The salsa is served hot and it has got a good kick to it.

The historic restaurant really shines where it counts -- fantastic food, reasonable prices, and excellent service. The host was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in for lunch, and our server offered great suggestions from the menu -- which features a wide variety of Mexican, New Mexican, and breakfast fare. I decided to get the Sopaipilla Compuesta ($15), a pair of sopaipillas topped with red and green chile. It was packed with authentic, rich flavor and made for an incredibly delicious and filling dish. My dining companion enjoyed the Veggie Omelette ($14), which was equally well-prepared, fresh, and portioned generously. If you are looking for authentic homestyle New Mexican cooking steeped in local history, La Nueva Casita Cafe is an absolute must-visit in Las Cruces!

Being from here, it's always good to come back to my favorite spots in LC. Don't skip the green salsa ya'll. Also it's a good place to sit and hang out. It is charming and looks quite New Mexican.

If they have a dinner special - get it. Service is always solid, sometimes great. The interior is pleasant and clean and simple. Bit of cozy. The patio is great when the weather's nice. But I would say that your $$ is being spent on quality ingredients and cooking skill, not trendy decor. They get packed for Sunday brunch. We liked that everything was not oversalted so that we could actually taste the food itself. I appreciate the portions for the price as well and felt we got a good value. The service was pleasant. The only thing I didn't like was that after we ordered, we noticed that other people had other foods on their tables... and it occurred to us that there was another menu, maybe a bar menu that we were never offered. Not purposely, but I really wasn't interested in tacos and burritos but would have really liked the nachos or other items on there, so it was a missed opportunity to get something I really wanted and had a more enjoyable experience.
