The queso was a true queso with real cheese and green chile, not the stuff that comes out of a can with canned jalapeños. To top it all off, you get a choice of their home-baked bread. Green Chile Cheddar, please. We each took a loaf home with us and put it in the freezer to travel back with us on the road. My repeat visit was the same meal because it was that good. We sat outside on the patio the second time, and despite the heat, the fans and the covered patio made it very pleasant.

When we left about 45 minutes later, a lot of previously occupied tables still had dirty dishes on them (but not all of them), and nobody was cleaning them up. Just like when we got here, there were lots of tables ready to go and yet the lobby was full of people waiting to be seated and even more people waiting outside.

AWESOME EVERYTHING!!! We walked over from the hotel next door. Upon sitting, we were greeted with chips and salsa, which were soooo good! We ordered a Chile Con Queso appetizer which was the best I have ever had! For our main dish, I had red meat enchiladas. The red sauce was perfect; not to spicy with a amazing flavor. My wife ordered beef and chicken fajitas. The marinade that they use was incredible! My son ordered a cheeseburger, which was also amazing. The fresh meat patties (not a frozen, preformed patty), awesome hamburger bun (which you can tell is fresh from a bakery), and fresh cut potato french fries. All in All, this place was spectacular!!! Today I ordered their TACO ALAMBRE STYLE meal with a side chile relleno. The service and food preparation was quick and very pleasant. The chips were good (rate them a "B.") The red salsa was tomato based with onion, chile, and cilantro. It was not high level (rate it a "C.") The white salsa was a bit better and had tiny pieces of chile in it. (rate it a "B-.) The chile relleno was not bathed and was a bit soft. The flavor was a little weak. This was still not a great version of a New Mex chile relleno. Rate it a "C." I usually do not order tacos as I feel you never get a good filling of meat in them as opposed to burritos, but these alambre style tacos had enough filling to fill up six or eight tacos!!! All in all, I was very pleased with my dining experience at El Charro and I have revised my dining experience rating to FOUR AND A QUARTER STARS....meaning it is somewhere between very good and excellent. Although El Charro is not your perfect restaurant, I will be returning to El Charro more often in the future. It is now one of my "go to" places. I feel they've earned it.
