I have been going toLos Bravos since living in some apartments off of Dekalb Industrial and I will continue to be a regular. Their food has always been consistent. This is one of those places where if the service is a little off I am willing to forgive because it doesn't happen very often. I usually give five stars for outstanding places but they get 4 because sometimes the service is a little off and I am not a big fan of the premixed margaritas and as everyone knows Mexican food and margaritas are a must!!!! Please take this into stride because I go here even though the margaritas aren't up to par. The food is fantastic. Their chips and salsa are excellent as well and they have turned me on to bean dip (beans and cheese, who knew?) My faves are the classic fajitas, fajita quesadillas, chimichangas and the sopa de pollo. I found this place when I first moved to the ATL area in 2005. It's very consistent. The food is better than the any town America places but not as complicated as a Nuevo Loredo. The chicken soup is one of the best I've ever had. I don't get over to this area very often, but it's the one good thing about having to go to the hospital across the street. A Mexican restaurant like you have been to many times and this one has live music, at least on Friday nights. Chips and salsa are abundantly provided from the moment you are seated. We branched out from our typical combination order and tried two entrees, both were yummy. One was served in a pineapple! As our meal ended a trio of musicians approached and serenaded our group of 10. That brings up another good point, this a great place for big groups - there is ample seating and parking available. Terrible service. Restaurant was nearly empty so I understand down time but servers were sitting at a table directly across from us (during their shift) scrolling through their phones. There was a dirty bus tub filled with dishes right behind our booth and I guess servers were using the table to roll silverware, as there were napkins and those little paper napkins wraps left on our table. I'm a restaurant manager myself, so seeing how poorly trained everyone is, was disappointing especially on a slowwww lunch shift. This is typically one of my favorite places to eat (as it is only a few minutes away from my apartment). However today's experience was nit a good one. I sent my husband to pick up our food ordered over the phone and there was a dispute in pricing. My order was "Tacos de Carne Asada"($9.95) and "Cheese Dip"($2.95). I looked up the Los Bravos menu. It came up with no pricing. So, i looked it up with pricing. My order should have been $13.93 ($12.90 before tax). My husband called me saying they charged me over $20. I sent him back in to return it. I wasn't paying $7+ over the price that was posted. They told him that the menu i saw online was old and that there were new prices. I sent screenshots of what was posted. They said they were the prices for their Marietta location. I looked upnthe prices for Decatur and THE SAME PRICES WERE POSTED! They had to nerve to tell him we should've called for pricing. So should i have just had them read me the ENTIRE menu, then?? Because i guarantee there would've been a problem if I'd done that instead. My husband said that they were upset to refund my money. I didn't care. I was upset, too. As a person who has been in the customer service profession for over 8 years, I'm aware that one of two things should have happened that didn't; A. the price that was posted should've been honored with apology or B. my order should've been comped for our trouble. They did neither. I can't guarantee that I'll bother to patronize this location again if this is their idea of customer service. Here's a tip: Contact Google to be sure that YOUR BUSINESS'S prices are posted accurately for YOUR LOCATION and that the accurate prices are wasy for customers to access. This by far was one of the worst Mexican restaurants in the city! We were in the area for medical appointments and feeling hungry because , so we popped in around 5:00 PM on a Friday. The hostess was super friendly! Surprisingly It wasn't crowded at all- again on a Friday! The waiter wasn't very helpful and the menu - wasn't impressive at all. Had we not been so hungry and hadn't eaten all day we would have left and honestly should have. I ordered a mango margarita on the rocks- It was watery and full of mango syrup at the bottom- clearly not well mixed! I requested it to be remade -preferably the correct way! A Mexican place that can't make a proper margarita is a red flag!!! My husband ordered a corarita- which he said was just okay. We received our drinks and fresh warm chips at the same time! We should have stopped there- I ordered shrimp and chicken nachos cause I asked and didn't see a salad on the menu... my husband ordered the trio- taco, chalupa and enchilada - I have never in my life eaten basic nachos! The only thing on the shrimp and chicken nachos was the meats listed, cheese and bell pepper and huge tomato wedges - they were not great! Ate maybe half - only cause I was hungry and didn't trust sending back another item. Not sure what type of queso cheese it was but my husband and I went home feeling horrible! I've been here a few times & the the food is always good & the drinks are always lit! However, they are pretty short staff right now, so there is always pretty much a wait time & the service may be a little slower than some prefer. This place has great authentic Mexican food. The staff is very friendly, and the Birria tacos are excellent. They are only served on Sundays, but are my weekly go to. The margaritas are extremely strong. i recommend the Margaronas for an extra kick that will have everyone noticing the incredible drink you have on your table. read more

Not a fan of the food, but never liked "authentic Mexican", it's a weird thing for me. But one of my friends wanted to meet up for drinks, this one is literally walking distance from my house. It wasn't the cleanest place. I ordered a cheese quesadilla, it was okay. But the drink was the highlight baby. When my friend and I went to wash our hands, she literally saw a sign on what we should be drinking, It was called a Riunite Margarita or something. It was DELISH, it was huge, we couldn't even finish the entire thing. So I'm definitely going back just for the drink. May sneak some crackers in in my person to coat my stomach or something. It probably is my fave Mexican food right now. I haven't really explored too much of the menu right now though. Both times, I have ordered a taco salad. And both times it was delicious. lol. Today, I convinced a friend to join me for late lunch by boasting about the incredible margaritas. Upon arrival I asked for a table outside. The one that I chose was partially covered to protect from sun. Had to ask staff to wipe table twice...food scraps and glass stains were very apparent. Once friend arrive we ordered margharitas with separate shot of Grand Marnier. Thr drink tasted unusually weak...I have had your premixed drinks before and they were good. My guest suggested we just ask for a shot of Tequila to enhance both our drinks. The waiter said he could not. We then asked to speak to Manager, another staff person came to inquire, it was quickly clear he wasn't the manager...he advised it was policy that drinks were not refundable...when my guest responded that we only wanted them to be properly made over not a refund. He then suggested we could have one shot of Tequila only.....we asked if he was the mgr...he was not, we were then told the Manager was busy on a call. We finished our food as we waited to speak to the manager. We again asked to speak to the manager and was told he was now on break. We planned to stay and speak with him, but were then advised that although it was before 3pm the mgr was on break til 5pm. This was poorly managed and IF, what was said about the manager's whereabouts was true.....no good example was being set by management. The worse part was that the employees seemed better versed at protecting the manager than service recovery. I've had many experiences at this spot before....the quality of the pre-mixed drink was no doubt, significantly inferior this time and no one owned the problem, the staff only made it worse! . read more

I ordered from this food establishment before, and I really thought it was pretty decent. However, I ordered delivery through DoorDash last night and that will be my last time. I ordered steak fajitas, not the cheapest thing on their menu. The "steak" was tough and had NO FLAVOR whatsoever. A little (or more in this case) of salt and pepper, basic seasoning, might would have helped this food. But, the WORST error on this order: I asked for NO SOUR CREAM, and even mentions it twice in special instructions within my order to please leave it off. How hard is it to read, and therefore not put a huge dollop of sour cream right in there, on top of the lettuce, pico, refried beans? I had to scoop out most of the lettuce, some of the pico, and the beans underneath it. I wanted those things, they come with the entrée, and I paid for them. If i could give 0 stars i definitely would, i been coming to this restaurant constantly for a little over 3 months and recently i got charged days after i left , i put cash on the table and didn't leave a card tip and they tipped themselves more on my card and i called they gave me the money back and stated it was a accident, i came back and they gave me the same server i asked for the credit bc when i called they told me to come get it but i decided to come get it when i ate , and everything was fine i even ate again with a different server, but today i came in and i had the same man, he had such a nasty attitude and was very rude and he sent someone else to serve us , which was fine and then my server was NOWHERE to be found , i kept having to get other people attention to get the server and the guy who stole from me was sitting right there just giving me the nastiest look and kept yelling at other people to come see about us bc he refused to even speak but continuing to stare me and my wife down , i loved this restaurant but sadly this was our last straw it was very unprofessional and overall made me uncomfortable. Went to Los Bravos last night because I was craving shopping center Mexican food with numbered menu items. I actually told my boyfriend that and he was like, "I know just the place!" The decor is delightfully Mexo-cheese; painted orange and teal with Spanish-style, curved awnings and paintings of Mexican children kneeling before a garden of humongous sunflowers. Awesome. I ordered the Hawaiian fajitas because it sounded really interesting. It was a new item; a tiny piece of paper describing it had been inserted into the front of the menu. And interesting it was! Half of a pineapple had been hollowed out and they had filled it with pineapple chunks, chorizo, onions and your choice of beef, chicken or shrimp! I got the beef, but I should have gotten the chicken. Then, of course, the tortillas, lettuce, guacamole, a slice of tomato and rice. Yum! It would have been nice if they would have cut up the tomato for me, though. That's too much work., so I didn't even use it. :p I also got a JUMBO (which is really just the medium) lime margarita. It was really too big for me; I should have gotten the regular (which is the small). I can't imagine how big the MONSTER margarita must be.... It ended up being alot more expensive than I was expecting, but then again I DID order something really unique and got way more margarita than I needed. The chips were stale and I would bet money the guacamole we ordered was squeezed out of a plastic pouch. The rest of the food wasn't heated through, almost seemed like it had been microwaved, the enchilada sauce had to have come from a cheap can, just not impressive at all. If you come here MAKE SURE that you read the fine print. I was forced to pay for food that I did not eat. I ordered a steak which clearly wasn't cooked fresh, had to at least be a couple days old due to the taste and smell. If you are a steak eater then you know what leftover steak tastes and smells like. I sent it back and asked for a order of steak tacos cooked fresh. They also tasted and smelled the same, was probably the same steak that I had before just chopped up. I was done at that point, and asked to pay for the drink and queso that I ordered. I was told that I had to pay for the last dish that I ordered pleased or not, I refused and the cops were called. I had to take an L and pay because of a sign posted at the entrance that I did not see, saying that you will still have to pay for the meal that you ordered regardless. I paid for the meal and still left that trash sitting there on the table. They clearly have this problem often for them to have this policy in place. Will never come back! read more

Los Bravos is another local (I believe) chain, with at least two locations that I know about - this one on North Decatur Rd (in the North Decatur Square shopping center near Kroger at the Dekalb Industrial Way intersection) near Dekalb Medical. I've also eaten at another one on the intersection of Johnson's Ferry and Ashford Dunwoody Rd. They are fairly consistent with one another regarding food quality and pricing. I place these restaurants in the "Shwag-Mexican" category, meaning Mexican food in a US American style (some may call this Tex-Mex but I prefer to use that for something slightly different). Most platters come with a small on-the-plate salad topped with pico and possibly avocado and a side of refried beans. The salsa here is palatable without any of the out-gassing you usually see when it starts to ferment and go bad, so I believe it's reasonably fresh. Chips are usually hot and not stale, always a boon. I've had various plates here - for a combination I usually order the number 11 or 21 (don't remember which as these numbers are usually interchangeable at most Atlanta Schwag-Mex places - this is a burrito, enchilada and taco - I think it all depends on whose menu was originally ripped off by the chain going back 30 years or so) con pollo (cuts down on the fat a bit). I've also had the various fajita dishes and have been reasonably happy with all that I've tried. What really shines at this restaurant is the Carnitas Platter - big chunks of roasted pork served with onions and a red peppery sauce (Michaocan?). I pour the sauce over the chunks and then do my usual fajita creation method (slather some refried beans on the flour tortilla as a base, place meat chunks and onions, add pico, roll and stuff my face. The meat is slow-roasted and tears easily and the combination of flavors can make even a crappy day great. You can easily get stuffed at this restaurant, especially with the chips and salsa. I also like the second-level margaritas at this place (don't usually do frozen, unless it's a pomegranate margarita at Rosa Mexicano) - if you go for gold you'll find plenty of tequila and your way to a buzz. Pricing is right in the medium to cheap range for this type of restaurant. I like how some of the bar decor is of the handmade rawhide-stretched-over-sticks variety. Service is very friendly and the food comes out very fast. I've been sampling this restaurant for many years and see familiar faces every time, which is a good sign. read more

I visited Los Bravos twice this month after a ten-year hiatus and I can see why. Los Bravos has and seemingly always be a huge Mexican restaurant with average food. The chips and salsa are mediocre at best; the service when busy is always slow; and the food is just average. Everything seems to scream "mass-produced Mexican" with little or none of the spices that Mexican food so wonderful, and the food always seems to congeal together on the plate so your burrito becomes your taquito, which blends into the beans and so on. I can see why people come here at lunch time - it is cheap and there are not a lot of Mexican restaurants in this area - but seriously people! This restaurant needs a makeover and quick. read more

Quintessential Tex-Mex place. Located in the Kroger shopping plaza at Ponce and DeKalb, this place sits quietly at the corner. The service was frustrating and the place was not even that busy. Once we were finally ably to order food, it was quickly delivered to the table. The waitress seemed genuine in all of her interactions, but yet seemed to be stretched a little thing amongst the dining room...and half the place was closed down! The food itself was basic, nothing special. We all got basic items such as enchiladas, tacos and rice/beans. While there was nothing special to anything we go, there was also nothing terrible. This place is good for drinks and cheap Mexican food. The service and staff are great. Just not crazy about their food. When I do have something, I get the chicken soup and add their really spicy hot sauce. There is also a patio outside for nice days. We loved being served by Evaristo! He was so helpful, kind, and handsome! We loved our chips, drinks and burritos. On some nights they have an amazing mariachi band.
