Chips, salsa and bean dip brought to your table, nice.

A friend recommended Los Andes in Danbury, and saw many glowing yelp reviews, so we visited. This is an Ecuadorian restaurant . We arrived early for dinner so there weren't a lot of people in the dining room area. The bar was packed , with the local residents, and they were a little loud. A good sign, I thought because they chose to unwind here, for food and drinks. The young lady who greeted us spoke to us in spanish, so I responded in kind. She asked for our drink choices so I asked for a diet coke with lemon. She said they had No diet. So, I asked for water with lemon. Got a water with lime... Ok, the menu choices were pretty typical, so I asked for a lomo Saltado (hubby ordered the same). What we got looked like the lomo, but tasted like carne asada with tomatoes, onions and peppers(Peruvians do not use peppers). Now I like carne asada, and it was tasty, but wasn't what I had in mind. Anyway, the portions were huge and I couldn't finish. Had half my plate left. So I asked the lady I wanted to take it home (in spanish- me lo quiero llevar). She took the plate, and returned a while later with the bill. I asked her for my food, and she said I didn't ask her for it. I told her I did ask her, and my husband said I did. She said it had already been thrown out, so that was it. Then she said the same thing happened earlier in the week with another customer. So I would caution anyone with leftovers to tell the waitresses ad nauseam that you want it back - or better yet, not have leftovers, lol. Hated to give 2 stars. Overall, food tasted good, but not what you ordered. Service not so good, even if you're bilingual. Forget it if you want a diet drink or lemon slice. But they do have a very good aji sauce. Hubby was licking his fingers. This wasn't cheap, so I was really disappointed she just threw away the food. If she thought I didn't like it, she could have asked why. But in fact, I did tell her it was good, and that I couldn't have dessert cuz I was too full. So be extra clear (?), idk.

The food was okay, but I was very disappointed in the service. Appetizers took forever to come out,…read moreand our server never apologized for the wait nor checked on us to see how our meal was. Oysters were very good, but the calamari came out cold and was very bland and overpriced. The aesthetics are solid for the establishment, and the entree was decent. Not a bad restaurant, but the service is a major downside and needs significant improvement.

Today was my first time at The Reserve, and I unfortunately have to agree with some of the Google…read morereviews. The food took quite a long time to come out. We started with a couple of drinks, which were very strong..maybe a little too strong. My sangria didn't taste like sangria at all, and I honestly couldn't tell what was in it. It didn't have any fruit, and I think vodka was added. We ordered the calamari and what was listed as hummus with pita. When it arrived, we noticed the "hummus" was actually spinach and artichoke dip. I had to ask about it since I have an allergy and wanted to make sure a certain ingredient wasn't included. We decided to keep it and I'm glad we did because it was absolutely delicious!! The calamari was just as good, if not better. Both appetizers were fantastic. For our entrée, we ordered the rigatoni to share. There was a bit of confusion, as our waitress (who was also the bartender) thought we wanted it packed to go, when we actually planned to eat it and then take the rest home. She quickly fixed it in the kitchen, so really no harm done. My only guess is that since we had been sitting with appetizers for quite a while, she may have assumed we were finished eating.. I mean it was a while. The pasta itself was cooked perfectly and the sauce was very good. However, it was topped with microgreens and cilantro which really threw me off! I've never had a pasta dish garnished with cilantro, especially instead of something more traditional like basil...? It felt like a strange choice and was a bit unappetizing for me. Overall, it was a very... odd... first experience. Would I give it another shot? Yes, but I think I'd wait a bit and hope things become more organized. I have to add it is beautiful inside. They have the cutest lights on the table. Appetizers: 10/10 Drinks: 3/10 Entrée: 5/10

The atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming, and the staff was attentive without ever being rushed. It gave us a great chance to really enjoy the space and the food. We started with the two-cheese crostini, which ended up being one of the highlights of the night. The bread was perfectly crisp, and the cheeses had just the right amount of richness without being heavy. I also tried their seasonal non-alcoholic Spiced Apple-Lini, and it was surprisingly delicious--refreshing, slightly sweet, and very "fall in a glass." For my entrée, I ordered the chicken Milanese, and I have to say it might be the best I've ever had. I'm usually very particular about chicken dishes, but the flavor and texture were spot-on. The breading was light and crispy, and the chicken itself wasn't dry at all. The plate came with a beautiful mix of seasonal vegetables--roasted squash, shaved fennel, cranberries, and arugula--topped with an apple cider vinaigrette that pulled everything together. It tasted fresh, balanced, and really thoughtful. We ended the meal with their cheesecake served with a house-made pistachio crème. The flavor was fantastic, especially the pistachio topping, which really made it unique. My only tiny note is that I personally prefer cheesecake a bit colder and denser rather than closer to room temperature, but that's purely personal preference and didn't take away from enjoying it. The owner also came by to chat with us, and he was incredibly friendly--clearly someone who cares about his guests and the quality of the experience. Between the great service, thoughtful menu, and inviting atmosphere, we're already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes. Definitely a strong addition to the Danbury dining scene.

The espresso martini is hands down the best around, and the beet salad is to die for with the yogurt, figs, and balsamic. The wings? Always cooked perfectly. Service is always great. The setting is nice with plenty of parking. The outdoor seating was a nice setup with fresh flowers blocking views of the road and parking lot. The waiter we had was super nice and helpful, not being too overpowering but checking in just the right amount. We started with the Mezze Dips which is hummus and whipped eggplant dips with a spread of fresh veggies and warm pita bread. It was very good and we all enjoyed it including our toddler. The menu is big enough to have something for everyone on any diet while keeping things fresh and not overwhelming. I went with a basic vegan burger which was absolutely fantastic on fresh grilled sourdough, it would even be good without the vegan patty if you want to avoid that. It seemed likely a Beyond or Impossible type party which I am fine with on occasion. My wife decided to go the fish route and got the crispy fish sandwich which was a huge size and she ate almost all of it. She said it had really good flavor and would order again. Our toddler got Mac and cheese and of course snacked on the appetizer and our fries. I gave the Mac and cheese a taste test and it was nice and fairly light versus the sometimes highly overpowering stomach bombs places make. Overall it was a nice dining experience and reasonably priced for what you get. I can't speak for the inside vibes from this experience since we were outside the whole time but overall I will definitely keep it on my list for the area and plan to go back. Maybe even again this week!
