We decided to give this a shot while in town. We eat a lot of Mexican so we figured it would be a no brainer given the positive reviews. The location is good with easy access and parking. Inside was clean and welcoming. There was a good amount of seating, limited outside seating, and a bar as well. They had your normal selection of import beers, margaritas, and specialty drinks. We were seated immediately but it was a Tuesday night so later in the week may be busier. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. We started with guacamole because who doesn't love that and it was great. It was fresh, a very large serving of it, and I'm embarrassed to say the three of us pretty much finished it all. I decided to go with the smothered burrito (veggie option) with salsa verde and man was it big! Definitely could split between two so now I have lunch for tomorrow. The flavor was good, nothing was too overpowering and I'd for sure order it again if we return. My wife got the veggie enchiladas with mole sauce they were good without being too spicy. My faves are the quesabirria and my husband loves the enchiladas de mole with shrimp. Also worth mentioning, they make FRESH corn tortillas. Took inlaws and toddler with us for a post-shoppjng dinner. We feasted like kings and absolutely everything was delicious! From grilled chicken, to steak chimichurri, to carne asada with juicy ribeye, to even the lowly tilapia, elevated with purposeful flavor. Everything was a plate-finishing must. The tres leches while more cakey than usual, was still pleasantly refreshing. We were hearing lots of great things about Casa Oaxaca. We stopped in on a Taco Tuesday. Plenty of parking in the lot. Really great decor. Plenty of seating on both sides of the restaurant including a nice bar area. There's also a tv in the bar area for sporting events. Very clean restaurant and a great staff. When we were leaving, I noticed the tortillas being made fresh in the front of the restaurant. Made the experience even better. The food is amazing. They start you off with chips and salsa. We came during happy hour on a Taco Tuesday. We wanted to get a little of everything to try. Everything had great flavors. My favorite taco we had were the Carnitas. Really delicious chimichangas with a fresh guacamole. The empanadas were fried perfectly. The were filled to capacity. It was not like other places that put a little meat in the middle and it's mostly shell. To end the night we ordered churros. Freshly fried with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. This was my first time in Casa Oaxaca . I came in for a little spur of the moment, lunch date with myself. The food was amazing. The shrimp tacos were delicious. The shrimp was the perfect texture and the sauce was amazing. I loved the decor in this restaurant. It was very festive. The service was outstanding. The server and manager were both hospitable, courteous, accommodating, and friendly. I highly recommend this place and I definitely will be back with friends. Not a critic, but I always leave recommendations in my reviews so the only thing I would say is to add a couple more side options on the plate with the tacos to add at our discretion.. like perhaps a spoonful of guacamole or re-fried black beans. I ordered a chicken tortilla soup and some beef empanadas. The chicken tortilla soup was the absolute best. Nice spices and a great amount of chicken. I would definitely order again. Nice mexican spot offering a great happy hour mondays through fridays from 4-6 with $7 margarita and other specialty drinks and $6-$7 appetizers, although mostly fried, but with good flavor. As for the rest of the menu, it offers your typical Mexican flare. Their taco tuesdays are nothing spectacular but then again the are the smaller tacos with minimal in terms of content and not my style but their menu otherwise is pretty solid offering flavor, options and specials for the weekend. Rice and beans are decent but not the best I have had but probably the best ones in bethel area. Their nachos are good and the birria nachos are a homerun! Homemade guac is very good and the chips and salsa they greet you with are not your typical in terms of chips as they are on the thicker side and the salsa is very different - more of a puree than a chunky salsa and takes a little getting used to. The bar area is fun and hip and the bartender is super attentive and efficient. Decor is really cute with fun walls and lots of plants and nice mexican art throughout. They have table and booths and can handle large groups. Forgot to mention regular appetizers other than happy hour appetizers are very good!! Came for happy hour with a few friends. Tried all the food on the happy hour menu (when there was an option for beef or chicken, we chose the chicken, but the tacos we did one of each). Food was delicious! Drinks were tasty, a little on the weak side compared to other places I have been. We tried a variety of drinks including mojitos (flavored and regular), margaritas (frozen and on the rocks), as well as sangria. As for desserts, we tried both the tres leches cake and the flan - but had the correct tastes, but the consistency was off from what I am accustomed to. Both desserts were a lot more "stiff". Service was ok. Our waitress disappeared for quite sometime to the point where we had to grab another employee to inquire where she went as we all ran out of beverages. Before that point and when she returned, she was very friendly and attentive. The waiter that stepped in for her during the time she had "possibly stepped out" was very nice and attentive as well. I love Mole sauce this was way too spicy and the refried beans had no taste as well as the rice. The chips were hard and tasteless. The fried ice cream was not like you would expect. Let me start off by saying we were a pretty big group, celebrating a birthday in the midst of a northeastern 10"+ snow storm. In the midst of all this, the service was phenomenal and extremely polite. Some of us had alcoholic beverages and from my understanding they are made on stronger side. Their guacamole delicious, you can taste the slightest hint of lime every once in awhile, perfectly chunks of tomato. It was amazing, haven't had that good guac in quite a bit. We had too large of a party for me to get pictures of everyone's meals, just got a few of who was sitting around me. I got the carnitas tacos- they were ok. A little dry - I added guac to mine. My husband got the carnitas entree and his rice and refried beans were very savory. Everyone else around us seemed to be very pleased with their meals.
