    Steak Fajitas, lunch order
    Carrie C.

I stopped here for lunch. It wasn't very busy. Was seated quickly. I ordered steak fajitas. The food came out relatively quickly. The taste was average. It tasted like it was cooked in old oil. The waitress was friendly. But dropped my food off and never checked on me again. I didn't see her until she brought the bill. Definitely a Mexican feel, right down to the Mexican rodeo event Charreada playing on the TV. Which many in the United States believe it is animal abuse. I realize this is a Mexican restaurant. But many Mexican rodeo events are looked down upon in the US. I thought it was in poor taste. I highly doubt I would be back.

Excellent service and quality of authentic Mexican food. The food was served hot and tasty. We will return again.

Very good food and atmosphere. Clearly this is the focus. The help looks to be a little thinly spread about the place. They all are very friendly but look as though they are hustling to keep up. It's possible it was an off busy night. I will return to see.

Simply delicious food, the tacos are the best in my mind. I just love them, specially the fact that they are so generously filled. A good value for the money. The margaritas are amazing and service is always great.

They're about a three. They were marginal for me. Nothing exceptional but nothing not so good either. I did like the picante salsa. The tamale and the chorizo taco were okay. Veggie fajitas were okay if but a bit too greasy. There were plenty of accompaniments and I did like the pico. Hospitality wasn't without spots of awkwardness or carelessness but adequate. Overall okay alright.

I am so disappointed in our latest experience here that I may never go back. It all starts with an unfriendly greeter/host that simply takes us to our table, drops the menus and leaves without so much as a smile or "your wait person will be right with you". Then the waiter who could have cared less if we were there comes and asks for our drink order. When we order water he simply walks away but we did manage to squeak out a basket of chips and salsa. Our orders were simple and were without issue, except for a piece of black something in my chile, which the waiter couldn't figure out either but assured me that it was nothing to worry about. I was done with the meal at that point but not so much as an apology or a "can I get you something else". The table across from us was a bunch of drunks who used so much filthy language that it would make a sailor blush. So glad when we said something to the manager that he just shrugged it off and super glad that our kids weren't present or my demeanor would have been a bit more assertive. The end result is that we paid the bill and left a little advice for our tip and nothing more, which doesn't make me very happy!

I've been coming here for a year now and for two months came every Tuesday. My boyfriend and I love coming here for taco Tuesday. We always get the Mexican style tacos with everything (cilantro, onions). The tacos we get are the al pastor, chorizo, and grilled chicken! Amazing taste, authentic, and friendly staff. ASK FOR MILTON as the waiter. He's fast, attentive and polite and he always takes good care of us. We will continue to come here for their tacos.

An evening out with my mom and she chose Los Amigos. It has been a few years since I was last here. We arrived fairly early before the dinner crowd. We were seated promptly and the chips & salsa were immediately brought out. After reading the menu we decided what we were going to order. We were seated in what was like a private room and I had to flag down the waiter. Not sure if he forgot about us since we were the only ones in that room. I had the tamales and they were very good and very filling. Mom really liked her burrito. Our one complaint was the room was very cold when the ceiling fans were running, even the napkins were fluttering. They turned off the fans when I asked and we were able to enjoy our meals without shivering.

I am so so super disappointed to do this. This is (or was) my favorite spot for some good Mexican food in portage hands down, but I thought people should know. My husband, and I came with our friends after a great day of coffee and shopping. Aside from the waitress walking past me 8 (yes eight) times and me sitting at our table thirsty.... my husband found a DEAD BABY COCKROACH in his drink.... I'm disgusting! It was IMBEDDED in his damn ice. This definitely needs to be seen by people. I don't want people eating here and not knowing!!! Please if you chance it, be aware of your food AND drinks! You CAN get sick from those disgusting bugs!!!

Great chicken chimichanga but service needs some work. Waiters are hard to catch if you need anything. If you are used to tomatoes on your tacos, order them with your taco--again catching a waiter after is difficult. Bathrooms need a plumber! Hubby almost got toilet up spray when he flushed! Not good!

Los Amigos has yummy, complimentary chips and salsa when you are seated. I always forget to save room for my meal and I fill up on chips. They have a Kid's Menu and include some non-Mexican food options in case you have a picky eater. They have lunch specials and so many different combos. It's a great place to gather with friends because everyone can find something they enjoy. Prices are moderate, you can feed a family of 3 for like $35.

It was not very busy and we got our food almost as fast as you would at any fast food restaurant. I can't say it would be true if it were busy. The staff, one young lady was very friendly and very accommodating. She was great. You order at the counter and she brought out our food. Now to the food. It was delicious. I ended up getting the Grand Burrito (dry). There is a wet version too. It was BIG and heavy! It was filled with rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, onions and some delicious grilled chicken. You can get the chicken cold, but not my thing. I couldn't finish it and I was hungry! Oh the chips were good too. No salsa but they were tasty by themselves. The place is clean and has plenty of seating for 2 to 8 people depending on how busy it is. There appears there might also be outdoor seating as well, would be nice if it wasn't winter. I would come again and maybe try the same again or try one of there many other delicious food. The price for my giant burrito was $12.

This little Mexican spot was a nice discovery. Located on Sprinkle Rd. a short distance south of…read morethe highway, it for all the world looks like it is housed in a former BP station. The form factor just has that apperance, and the fact that the trim color on the outside is green probably completes the illusion. However, in looking it up, it apparently actually used to house a series of pizza joints, most notably a Cottage Inn. The dining room is spacious and well-appointed offering a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. I was there with a colleague for a late lunch before dropping him at his hotel before I headed home. Hence, because of the hour it was not busy. It's a bit of a cross between a Mexican full-service restaurant and a Tex-Mex fast food place. The format is walk-up-and-order but the menu is more like a full-service place. The service was friendly and very efficient. They offer some good choices on their menu. My colleague had Lengua Gorditas, which he liked quite a lot. I had one of my Mexican favorites, the Huevos con Chorizo. It was a very tasty selection accompanied by the usual refried beans, rice and tortillas (I chose the corn tortillas). The portion was quite good which worked well since I had eaten very little that day. Even at that, I was not able to finish the beans and rice. We both had bottled drinks. With food, drinks, tax and tip, our bill was $49. At $24.50 per person, it was a bit expensive for lunch, but the value was reasonable for what we got by today's standards. I go to Kalamazoo periodically for business. I'll keep this place in mind when I'm there. They apparently have another location near WMU, so that might be a target to try in the future.
