Stopped at Que Buenos after a long day packing boxes and loading a trailer. We were HUNGRY and wanted a quick late lunch before hitting the road back to Wisconsin. I will say I gave them 4 stars vs 3 because I really enjoyed the food. The person at the counter actually got my order partly wrong. There are several options for nachos on the menu and I believe he may have rung my order incorrectly. However, I was correctly charged for what I got and I still enjoyed my meal. (We were in a hurry so I didn't want to make them fix it.) The restaurant is pretty basic for a storefront place. I'm not a fan of storing supplies out in the open. but their storage must be limited. The bathroom could have used some attention. But overall not the worst I've seen. I'm focusing this rating more on the food as the three of us all enjoyed our meal and my local friend went back in as we left to get dinner for his family. Great value on solid tacos near campus. Tacos were good. Food was quick coming out. Chips included no additional charge which imo makes it a great value. Not full service staff, but checked on us if we needed anything. Wouldn't recommend calling. I've called a few times and get left ringing for minutes. This place will be one of my favorite places from now on! They have good tacos for good prices on Tuesday. I ordered chicken and steak tacos. Both were very tender and tasty. You can choose what ever you like to add to your tacos. I asked for lettuce and sour cream. The steak is my favorite followed by the chicken one. The Chicken tacos tasted like Shawrma!! I cannot for the life of me figure out why this place only has an average of 3-ish stars. We just discovered this place in January and we've already ordered takeout from here 3 times (it's February 6 ). I have held off on reviewing in case it was a fluke but we have loved our food every time we have ordered. The chorizo Mexican style tacos (corn with onion, cilantro and lime) are my go to. Their salsa verde is BALLER! Some of the best I've ever had, for real, i am obsessed. The guac is really good too; some places it gets real runny but at Que Buenos it's thick and rich and flavorful. And the chips and salsa are good too. My husband is hooked on the beef chimichanga dinner, which is huge and messy and really filling. We've had great customer service each time too, fast turnaround time to pick our order up, and they have things pretty well organized for covid safety, especially as a small restaurant. Our order was a bit off -we asked for al pastor tacos and got chorizo. We also got a ground beef chimichanga and the filling was like a very finely minced and dry beef paste -not much flavor and the fried tortilla was a bit soggy (although the soggy factor may have been due to it being take-out -perhaps it steamed a bit in the container). Finally, we also ordered pollo con queso -the chicken was a bit dry with no flavor (it looked like boiled strips) and the rice was a bit dry -more sauce was needed. I will say, they were very fast and I loved that they included a small bag of chips and salsa for 2 of the 4 entrees. The chips and salsa were very delish. Disclaimer: This review is for the delivery food only. I haven't eaten at the location. So my employer decided he wanted to try out this new place he'd heard of. As he is an avid Mexican food fan, I consider him somewhat of an expert judge of it. He said he'd heard good things about Que Buenos and they delivered! (DON'T get me started on how many places won't deliver to us downtown smh) So we ordered. The actual ordering process was pretty uneventful and ordinary. The food showed up in about 35-40 minutes. It was still very warm and came in cardboard topped foil pans. Nothing was marked so we had to play musical lids to figure out what was what. And some of the dishes looked pretty identical so... there was that. Slight aggravation. Once I figured out what dish was mine, I prepared to dive in as I was pretty hungry by then. First impression? When I opened the dish my initial thought was "Did I inadvertently order burrito soup?". Everything was kind moshed all together with only vague separation of them. It took me a moment to actually locate the burrito. By the way I ordered the Burrito lunch special which was a wet burrito, rice, and beans. Or should I say bean "slurry". Although the flavor was decent, the beans were SO over processed that they had the consistency of baby food. Totally weird texture. But when mixed with the rice they were decent. Speaking of flavor, the burrito itself was also decent. Nothing outstanding but definitely edible. I would eat it again. Finally, it seems like they are very new to the "delivery game" as the guy was very confused and showed up with cash "for our change" when we had paid online via credit card. He apparently had no idea we had already paid. I don't really have faith that he will get the gratuity we indicated for him. Overall this place is decent. I gave them 3 stars because they deliver downtown. And the food is decent. With their late night hours and nice prices this would be a great "after the bar" stop for sobering up food. We have only gotten take out from this place for taco Tuesday's. The customer service was great and the food came out pretty fast. The inside of the restaurant is pretty dark but I don't really mind since we usually do take out. Tip: American tacos do not come with the taco salsa and they do sell it for 0.50 cents per 2oz cup, it's so delicious with the sauce! Any orders that you'd get, even on taco Tuesday, it comes with a bag of chips and red non spicy salsa. Our fave is American tacos with grilled chicken which consists of cheese, lettuce and grilled chicken. I have tried shredded chicken too but not really a fan. This place is located near WMU campus and is a small eat in place or you can also order to go. When we were ordering our food, the man helping us was very nice and helpful. We placed our order and were given a number to set at our table. We ordered two kids nachos (with only cheese and ground beef on the chips), torta de carne Asada, a wet burrito & and an order of guacamole and chips. We sat at a table after getting our drinks and were given a small basket of chips and small cup of salsa. The wait time was longer than usual and were done with our chips, I asked the waitress if we could have more and she gave this look like she was upset because I had asked that question, she hesitantly brought us more chips. When she brought the chips, I was going to ask her for more salsa, but she walked away so fast that I wasn't able to ask her! Our food came out and it looked great. I asked to bring more salsa and again got "the look". The torta was HUGE (only ate 1/2, it was good)! The kids liked their nachos (also HUGE) and the burrito was okay (it was missing some flavor/seasoning on the meat). I noticed we didn't get our order of guacamole, so I went up to the cashier and the waitress asked me what I wanted. I let her know that they forgot to bring us our guacamole and she replied, "Okay, go have a seat". At this point I am getting mad at the way she is behaving. I went and sat down and she sat the guacamole bowl hard in the table; she was walking away and I told her she forgot our chips, she turned around and replied "it doesn't come with chips". I replied, "Well when I ordered it they confirmed it comes with chips". She walked away and a few minutes later slapped a basket of chips on our table. The lady was very rude and I was on the verge of cussing her out....but I didn't. So if you decide to eat in, and she is still working there, expect some bad service from her, because I wasn't the only one to experience her lovely attitude that day. We had went back on another day (Taco Tuesday) and the same thing was observed...that same lady was being rude to another customer. Stopped in on a whim...the place it dark and doesn't look super nice. They serve all the food in to go containers if you are eating in or not. The food did not disappoint. My kids actually ate all their food- and that never happens. I got the steak street tacos and they came with a green salad a that was not to spicy and packed with flavor. Really yummy authentic Mexican food. I was very pleased at the quick service at the counter and the variety of great choices! The atmosphere is welcoming and homey. Which I think is perfect for a student, random citizen, or anyone looking for on campus Mexican food. I went very basic and got traditional Mexican tacos. Just no onions and scallions. The quality of the meat, shells, and the rest of the veggies. They stepped up for what I took off. The prices are relatively cheap. If that isn't enough, they also give more of a deal during certain specials they have daily. The day I had gone and tried them, they didn't have a special on what I wanted. We have been waiting for Que Bueno to open. There is not much in this area of town & the local Mexican chain is meh. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Though the food was cooked fresh & the staff was friendly, it was simply so-so & their covid customer protection is not up to par. Steak Fajitas were tasty, but the beef burrito was bland as could be. Fresh chips & salsa were free, which was nice, but again, no flavor. The salsa seemed to be thin tomato & nothing else. Normally, this wouldn't deter us from trying again after a few months & letting them hone their craft. However, the biggest reason we will not be returning is several kitchen staff were wearing their masks below their noses & chin. Sadly, we didn't notice this until after we started eating. Once we noticed this, we started paying attention. They had a fountain pop machine for everyone to use, & this is how their water was dispensed. They said "there are gloves to fill your water", but didn't monitor or encourage use. We didn't see any of the tables wiped down after people left. They had hand-sanitizer out at the register, which is great, but that's not enough. If they can't take covid regs seriously, what else are they doing in the kitchen that could put our food at risk. read more

I thought I would try someplace new for lunch today Instead of one of my many favorite Mexican restaurants. It was 11:15 and I was the only one eating when I got there. I placed my order at the counter and was given a number, I got my ice water and found a seat. A few minutes later I was brought a basket of chips and a to-go cup of salsa. I asked if they had some hotter ones and they brought me two in plastic squirt bottles, like all my favorite places do. A few minutes later I was brought my lunch. They had some lunch specials but the taco choice was crunchy. I ordered two Mexican style (onion, and cilantro) with double soft corn tortillas, rice and beans. It was $9 something. It was a lot of food but a lot of just ok Mexican food. I had grillled chicken and steak. Both tasted fine, nothing as good as I have had. The same for the rice and beans. Ok but nothing to write home about. I would loved to have had real silverware or even nice plastic wear, but I was brought one of those to-go packages with cheap plastic and a napkin. New taco place near campus. To me Gallo Blanco is the standard in Kalamazoo. This is not as good. However it's better than Big burrito and it does deliver. I had a Al Pastur taco which had a nice char flavor on the pork. Yet no real sweetness from the fruit. I also did a chicken burrito. It had good flavor. The shredded chicken was moist and the hot sauce had a nice kick. The prices were reasonable. I would call the food authentic too. Hymai is the RUDEST manager I have ever met. When asked for the owner he said "owners off somewhere in "Coldwater", he's the boss. This guy is a huge dick and I won't eat here EVER again. A friend recommended this place and I think it's great! I've tried the Mexican tacos carnitas style and the chicken enchiladas. The enchiladas were good but the tacos were fantastic - good quality meat, flavorful, reasonably priced. Also the staff are super nice and the service is fast. My only issue - minor - is there's only one size fountain drink. A smaller option would be nice. This is another solid option if you're eating near campus. read more
