    Picky child leaving NOTHING behind.

The food was awesome!! Authentic tastes. GREAT house hot sauces. We will definitely be coming back again! Even my picky nephew left nothing on his plate!

Wait to Order: (5 of 5) - When you walk in the sign says "Wait To Be Seated" but we were seated immediately... no wait. Cleanliness: (4 of 5) - It's an older building but the restaurant on the inside has been taken care of. The eating area was organized and looked clean. - Utensils were metal and wrapped in a napkin. - Straw were wrapped in manufactured wrapper. Atmosphere: (4 of 5) - As I said above... the building is an older building and with that I got an old dinner feel. It could have been also due to the type of table and chairs in the dinning area. There was a TV in the main area that had Wheel of Fortune on. It was not blasting... just there for background entertainment. Service: (5 of 5) - Our server was very attentive to our table. She brought chips and salsa to the table immediately and asked what we wanted to drink. - She came back to deliver the drinks and asked if we were ready to order... we said no so she left and came back within about 2 to 3 minutes and took our order. - Our order was up pretty fast... faster than I expected. - When the order was brought to the table our server asked if we wanted drink refills, we said yes, she took our cups, and returned pretty fast with our refills Food: (4 of 5) - I'm always torn on judging Mexican food as we lived in Arizona for 20 years and were pretty spoiled with Amazing Mexican food. With that my rating here is probably tougher than would be if I never ate in Arizona. - We have the chips and salsa which was good. The salsa looked to be home made and was good... if it has a bit more cilantro it would have been great. I ordered the Chicken/Steak Fajitas with Corn Tortillas and my wife ordered Steak Tacos. - The food looked spot on for legit Mexican food. - The Fajita's were very good... however, I think they were lacking more flavor. I added some of the (looked to be homemade) green sauce (which was on the hotter end of the heat scale) and it immediately livened up the Chicken/Steak flavor. - Similarly the rice and beans that were included also are good but needed a little sauce to kick them up to the next level. - My wife's Steak Tacos (Corn Tortilla, Steak, Onions and Cilantro) were very good, and had a solid flavor. No need for any sauce here. - They served Coke / Diet Coke products which tasted as expected. Price: (4 of 5) - Chips and Salsa = included with meal - 3 Taco Dinner = $9.99 - Fajitas = 14.99 - Coke / Diet Coke = $2.49 each - I believe the prices are inline with competitors in the area. Overall: (4 of 5) - Overall I'd say this is one of the better Mexican food flavors in the Kalamazoo area. - We'll definitely be heading back to La Finca!

Why is the guacamole stringy??! Absolutely disgusting

Today for dinner my boyfriend and I decided to do La Finca. About a year ago we got food from here together and it was really good. I remember getting the guacamole and it had a decent creamy flavor to it. I think I got steak tacos and they were decent as well. My boyfriend has ordered from them To-Go as well in the past, and he said their food wasn't bad. Today we got there and the place was EMPTY. Hindsight is always 20/20, we should have left when we saw the place was empty. I think there was one other couple dining there, and maybe another person waiting for a To-Go order. We walked in and were greeted by one of the workers she told us to pick a place to sit and someone will be with us shortly. We sit down and waited for awhile to get our order taken. We even contemplated about leaving because we didn't think anyone would come take our order. Anyway the same lady that greeted us was our waitress. She was nice and pleasant. She gave us some complementary chips and salsa while we looked at the menu. I am not sure where to start with the salsa. It was WATERY and FLAVORLESS. I don't know if anyone has ever cooked with tomatoes or even fresh tomatoes, but they need a lot of seasonings to get a good flavor to them. This salsa had watery tomatoes, onion, and cilantro. I think this was the worst salsa we have ever had. NOT A SPECK OF SALT OR PEPPER WAS TO BE FOUND!!!! I very much rather them use Tostitos salsa from the store... at least that has some flavor to it!!! The chips tasted stale and they were not freshly made. I think they used the same chips that a local gas station uses for their nachos. To be honest I would have settled for gas station nachos at this point!! The waitress came back and took our order. My boyfriend got the enchiladas and I got two steak tacos with rice and beans. Then my boyfriend ordered their guacamole as mini appetizer. The guacamole came and I was scared to eat it. It was so PALE AND STRINGY. I have never seen such pale color to guacamole. Again... same as the salsa it was flavorless and was stringy. I don't know why it was like that. It was disgusting. No amount of salt or pepper would help that!! I told my boyfriend that we should pay for the guacamole and leave. I just felt like this meal was getting worse!! Our meals came, they were flavorless too. The waitress came with our sides of sour cream and asked us if we wanted hot sauce. We both unanimously said YES!!! The hot sauce saved our meal!! My tacos were not good at all without the green and red hot sauce and the same for my boyfriend's meal. If we didn't have that then I don't think we could finish our entrees. I love to support local restaurants but it is hard when they come out with food that is so poorly made. Last year they were decent, and now the food is hardly edible. I will say the people were friendly and our waitress was helpful and nice. I am not sure how they stay in business with the subpar food. TO BE HONEST I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS! We were SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED!!

Another evening meal with great food. I had the tamale dinner, which came with my choice of sauces to top them with--I asked for both so I could try each, and ended up preferring the green tomatillo. Refried beans, rice, and lettuce allowed me to change up the flavor and texture for each bite, but the stars were the chicken tamales: homemade, juicy on the inside, not singed to a crisp on the outside. I've been looking for a place with good tamales in Kalamazoo and have finally found it.

Me and my crew having our annual Christmas dinner.

The staff are nice and help me figure out what I should order. We got the chips and salsa, which was delicious and freshly made, and a healthy portion. I got the Birria Ramen and it did not disappoint. It was delicious, especially with all the lime slices that came with it. There were grilled onions and a jalapeño that were so flavorful. Everyone at the table was moaning in delight. The portion was large enough for me to get 3 satiable meals from it. They provided chopsticks for it, which was surprising and also very appreciated! My partner got the wet burrito and ate every single morsel, which is kind of unique for them to do. The Al Pastor tacos were moist and seasoned to perfection and heavenly. The Birria tacos were one of the staff's favorites and it was my companion's first time trying it, needless to say, they will add that to their top 5 moving forward! I walked in there in a bad mood and walked out delighted! I was too full to try the ice cream but will be back weekly for more! The facility is clean and warm considering it was 12° outside. There is plenty of parking and it is accessible for handicapped!

It was not very busy and we got our food almost as fast as you would at any fast food restaurant. I can't say it would be true if it were busy. The staff, one young lady was very friendly and very accommodating. She was great. You order at the counter and she brought out our food. Now to the food. It was delicious. I ended up getting the Grand Burrito (dry). There is a wet version too. It was BIG and heavy! It was filled with rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, onions and some delicious grilled chicken. You can get the chicken cold, but not my thing. I couldn't finish it and I was hungry! Oh the chips were good too. No salsa but they were tasty by themselves. The place is clean and has plenty of seating for 2 to 8 people depending on how busy it is. There appears there might also be outdoor seating as well, would be nice if it wasn't winter. I would come again and maybe try the same again or try one of there many other delicious food. The price for my giant burrito was $12.

Disappointed Doesn't Even Begin to Cover It…read more We've been to other locations of this Mexican restaurant before and always enjoyed our go-to dishes--so we expected the same quality here. Sadly, this was hands-down the worst experience we've had at any of their spots. We ordered the Steak Mexicano, Steak & Shrimp, Shrimp Cocktail, and two margaritas. The drinks were the only highlight--strong, flavorful, and honestly the only reason this review gets a single star. The food, however, was a disaster. Let's start with the steaks. Both were bland and flavorless, with the Steak Mexicano tasting like it had been reheated on the grill--dry and chewy. The other steak was full of fatty pieces, nearly a quarter of it was inedible. Tortillas were forgotten, and when they finally arrived, the meal was nearly over. The rice and beans were passable, but that's not exactly high praise. The worst part? The shrimp cocktail. We were looking forward to sharing it, but the first shrimp we tasted was so questionable we had to send it back. It genuinely tasted off--not fresh at all--and even the orange slices on the side looked like they had been sitting out all day, maybe for display. We should've known better than to order seafood here, but we didn't expect it to be outright spoiled. When we brought up the issues while paying, the lady at the register dismissively said, "not my problem." She later backtracked and claimed she had said "no problem," but by then the damage was done. She could've at least apologized, since we are paying for food that we hardly ate. (We didn't get charged for the shrimp cocktail). Honestly, if you don't know what good Mexican food should taste like, you might be fooled by the endless stale chips and a good margarita. But don't be deceived--this location is a far cry from the others. If you're craving the better deal, you're better off going to the one in 5036 S Westnedge Ave, Portage or Kalamazoo. If you go to the east coast or Cancun- this restaurant would be closed already. ‍ PS Also, high chair' was dirty and seatbelt broken - safety hazard for small children.

The form factor just has that apperance, and the fact that the trim color on the outside is green probably completes the illusion. However, in looking it up, it apparently actually used to house a series of pizza joints, most notably a Cottage Inn. The dining room is spacious and well-appointed offering a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. I was there with a colleague for a late lunch before dropping him at his hotel before I headed home. Hence, because of the hour it was not busy. It's a bit of a cross between a Mexican full-service restaurant and a Tex-Mex fast food place. The format is walk-up-and-order but the menu is more like a full-service place. The service was friendly and very efficient. They offer some good choices on their menu. My colleague had Lengua Gorditas, which he liked quite a lot. I had one of my Mexican favorites, the Huevos con Chorizo. It was a very tasty selection accompanied by the usual refried beans, rice and tortillas (I chose the corn tortillas). The portion was quite good which worked well since I had eaten very little that day. Even at that, I was not able to finish the beans and rice. We both had bottled drinks. With food, drinks, tax and tip, our bill was $49. At $24.50 per person, it was a bit expensive for lunch, but the value was reasonable for what we got by today's standards. I go to Kalamazoo periodically for business. I'll keep this place in mind when I'm there. They apparently have another location near WMU, so that might be a target to try in the future.
