They try to put a mandatory 20% gratuity on any bill over $50 and don't tell you unless you ask---incredibly dishonest. I guarantee you they take advantage of big party customers who accidentally double tip because they don't itemize the bill. The food is pretty good--especially the molcajete--but I cannot recommend a restaurant when I don't trust the owner. She's rude, unprofessional, refuses to honor her coupons, and charges $3 for each tray of chips after one, regardless of how many are in your party etc. The service wasn't acceptable. The waitress rarely came back to the table and did not mention the many upcharges they'd be adding to our bill. The food was okay. My burrito was mostly filled with rice. There was very little steak. Today for dinner my boyfriend and I decided to do La Finca. About a year ago we got food from here together and it was really good. I remember getting the guacamole and it had a decent creamy flavor to it. I think I got steak tacos and they were decent as well. My boyfriend has ordered from them To-Go as well in the past, and he said their food wasn't bad. Today we got there and the place was EMPTY. Hindsight is always 20/20, we should have left when we saw the place was empty. I think there was one other couple dining there, and maybe another person waiting for a To-Go order. We walked in and were greeted by one of the workers she told us to pick a place to sit and someone will be with us shortly. We sit down and waited for awhile to get our order taken. We even contemplated about leaving because we didn't think anyone would come take our order. Anyway the same lady that greeted us was our waitress. She was nice and pleasant. She gave us some complementary chips and salsa while we looked at the menu. I am not sure where to start with the salsa. It was WATERY and FLAVORLESS. I don't know if anyone has ever cooked with tomatoes or even fresh tomatoes, but they need a lot of seasonings to get a good flavor to them. This salsa had watery tomatoes, onion, and cilantro. I think this was the worst salsa we have ever had. NOT A SPECK OF SALT OR PEPPER WAS TO BE FOUND!!!! I very much rather them use Tostitos salsa from the store... at least that has some flavor to it!!! The chips tasted stale and they were not freshly made. I think they used the same chips that a local gas station uses for their nachos. To be honest I would have settled for gas station nachos at this point!! The waitress came back and took our order. My boyfriend got the enchiladas and I got two steak tacos with rice and beans. Then my boyfriend ordered their guacamole as mini appetizer. The guacamole came and I was scared to eat it. It was so PALE AND STRINGY. I have never seen such pale color to guacamole. Again... same as the salsa it was flavorless and was stringy. I don't know why it was like that. It was disgusting. No amount of salt or pepper would help that!! I told my boyfriend that we should pay for the guacamole and leave. I just felt like this meal was getting worse!! Our meals came, they were flavorless too. The waitress came with our sides of sour cream and asked us if we wanted hot sauce. We both unanimously said YES!!! The hot sauce saved our meal!! My tacos were not good at all without the green and red hot sauce and the same for my boyfriend's meal. If we didn't have that then I don't think we could finish our entrees. I love to support local restaurants but it is hard when they come out with food that is so poorly made. Last year they were decent, and now the food is hardly edible. I will say the people were friendly and our waitress was helpful and nice. I am not sure how they stay in business with the subpar food. TO BE HONEST I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS! Another evening meal with great food. I had the tamale dinner, which came with my choice of sauces to top them with--I asked for both so I could try each, and ended up preferring the green tomatillo. Refried beans, rice, and lettuce allowed me to change up the flavor and texture for each bite, but the stars were the chicken tamales: homemade, juicy on the inside, not singed to a crisp on the outside. Yes, this is still our default Tex Mex restaurant in the area. It isn't fancy, they don't do specials, the menu is (probably) unchanged since the restaurant opened, and there still isn't any beer. We've polled all of the Tex Mex restaurants in the area, and this restaurant consistently makes the most satisfying traditional Tex Mex cuisine we've had in recent memory. Of recent, I have been choosing from the menu dishes that singe my eyebrows: Quesadilla Sincronizada with chorizo as the protein has been my preferred first choice, followed by an even hotter second choice, the spicy Burrito Toreado, also with chorizo. Nonla Taqueria is also a fave, but I view that restaurant as more innovative than traditional (for example, Nonla Taqueria had a special today: Albondigas smothered in a roasted chestnut mole topped with queso fresco. You would not hope to see that show up on the chalkboard at La Finca). If La Finca is 1 A, Nonla Taqueria is 1 B. Together, the two make me very happy. read more

Yelp brought us here and it didn't disappoint. The server brought chips and salsa to the table when he came to take our drink order. The salsa was soooo good. You could taste the cilantro, tomatoes, and onions. It was fresh, as well as the food. I ordered a lunch portion that came with tortillas, beans, lettuce, rice, and chicken with peppers. The chicken was so tender and flavorful. It had a red marinade/sauce on it that added flavor, not heat. It needed no additional sauce. Two of us had lunch and the bill was $14. My enchiladas suiza were tasty. 4 come to a plate - I ordered 2 chicken, 1 steak, and 1 ground beef, to ascertain which I liked best. The steak was, hands down, the best for me. The chips in the chips and salsa were thick, crunchy, and salty. SO TASTY! Two sauces can be brought to the table - the same sauce that was in his chile de arbol, and a green jalapeno sauce. Nice variety! Large servings. Lunch for both of us tomorrow! The service was stellar. He was on top of beverages, was very kind and polite, was speedy, and is the epitome of an excellent waiter (thank you!). The less than pros: The salsa that came with the chips was sort of watery and not very flavorful. Others have noted the office type atmosphere. I concur - but there are plenty of beautiful paintings and art, to ameliorate the ceiling and fluorescent lighting. The con: The tv was on, showing the news, on 3 different tv sets in the restaurant. I would prefer to have no sound if the tv is on, so that I don't get stressed out by all the junk that is going on in the world. Alternatively, some quieter music would be lovely. The one time I ordered was through Grubhub which has been very reliable. The restaurant changed times 3 times so it took 75 min to get one chimichanga. That was my whole order. It was 3pm. Didn't know what the hold up was. I wasn't fussy. I wanted 2 items off, extra on one item and save everything else. No plastic, etc. it came stone cold, everything wrong, 3 packets of plastics ???, and basically ignored my order after putting off a simple order for 75 minutes. Will never order from there again. We finally tried La Finca after driving by many times. It's not a restaurant that I hear anyone talking about but I want to change that. We tried 2 different entrees and thought everything was great. Let's start with the steak burrito naturale. OMG it was delicious. The steak had great flavor and I enjoyed all of the fillings. The hot sauce was icing on the cake! My daughter had flautas de pollo and She said that she's order them again. (She's 6 and eats nothing ). We also had chips and salsa and an abundant order of queso. I'd recommend both of these. The chips are crispy and salty - yum. The price was a little more than I expected but It's worth every penny. I'll be recommending La Finca to our friends and neighbors. After reading such great reviews we were eager to give their food a try. We ordered two chicken wet burritos for pickup. The food was ready as promised. The meal was awful. The burritos were bland and presented poorly! There was very little chicken; most of the filling was a tasteless rice. I only ate a few bites and threw out the rest. I can only say that if you want a colorless, tasteless, bland meal have the chicken wet burrito. Sadly since this was a take out meal I couldn't even send it back to the kitchen. Where has this place been all my life? Had an amazing lunch here and everything was so delicious! We shared the Lomo de Res en Chile de Arbol which is grilled steak with onions and a spicy tomatillo sauce and it comes with sides of lettuce, rice, and beans. The spices were a pleasant surprise! No additional sauces needed! And the steak was cooked to perfection with the grilled onions wonderfully complementing it. I also had the chicken sope which was also very tasty. It was a bit of a drive but definitely worth it. Staff was friendly, service was quick, menu items were all very well priced, and there were some nice touched that made the place feel authentic like the artwork on the walls and the Latin soap operas playing on TV. The ingredients are fresh and each component is treated with care to enhance flavor and texture. After seeing a review in the Gazette, we decided to make the drive to Portage to La Finca. We were greeted at the door by the sweetest girl who did not look a day over 12. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves at 3:00pm on Saturday afternoon. We sat by the window and ordered what we thought were baked potatoes with guacamole as a starter. They were fried and it was our own fault - we cannot read. Typically we don't go for fried foods, but we let this one slide. The potatoes were good. They were a bit oily, but the combination of the avocado was surprisingly yummy. The guacamole was fantastic. Obviously scratch made and so good. By this time the tables were starting to fill up and we had already ordered a wet burrito and a burrito natural. When our meals arrived about three minutes after our starter we were a little startled by their size. Seriously, the burritos are enormous. I ordered mine with ground beef and had asked about spice level. I was assured it was not spicy at all, so I was a little disappointed to find that the beef was in fact spicy. I appreciate everyone has a different meter, but this was an absolute kick in the mouth. Aside from the spice, both burritos were excellent. Just the right amount of filling. Hot on the inside and a crispy, lovely, homemade flour tortilla to wrap it all up in. Mr. MVP and I both took more than half our meals home, which we weighed when we got home. One full burrito weighs almost 2 pounds!
