I stumbled upon Los Amigos as I frequent the Grant plaza. I came in on a weekday around 3PM for a late lunch (lol) and decided to order 3 tacos -- 2 carne asada, 1 carnitas! There was no one in the restaurant probably because it was 3PM, but the place was spacious and super clean which I can appreciate. Each taco was pretty expensive, close to $4 each. It is definitely pricier compared to your local taco trucks but keep in mind they lease out an actual space so their expenses are definitely different. Still affordable though. They have a salsa bar with a bunch of different salsas, condiments, things you would typically find. I got some lime, pico de gallo, and two different types of salsa. My order was ready within a few minutes of ordering which was great! My first impressions -- wow these tacos are HUGE! Like definitely bigger than any tacos I've ever had. They don't skimp on their portions. This makes the price point so much more reasonable for me. The tacos did lack an abundance of cilantro, which is important for me, but in their defense, it was offered at the salsa bar. I guess I just assumed it would come with more? Oh and it also came with a little complimentary bag of chips that I paired with the pico de gallo I got at the salsa bar. Both the carnitas and carne asada meat itself tasted amazing. I would say their salsas and pico de gallo needed more flavor. I got Salsa de Arbol and Salsa Guacamole and neither of them were really doing it for me. Something felt missing, but I was still satisfied in the end. The tacos were huge, the meat was juicy, and service was quick and friendly! I will definitely give this place a try again in the near future. read more

I wasn't that hungry so I ordered the taqueria asada and carnitas tacos for an indoor lunch. My order was ready shortly and came with a bag of chips. There was no salsa bar yet so I got a tub of the spicy salsa. The beef was diced and a little chewy with a good grill flavor. The pork was seasoned lightly and tender. Saw this place was new and had to try it. We got 1 shrimp burrito, 1 lengua super burrito, 1 BBQ pork burrito, 1 flauta appetizer, 2 fish tacos, and 1 Carne Asada taqueria taco. All the burritos were pretty hefty weighing about 24 oz and very filling. The BBQ pork burrito is very colorful and had that sweetness of the sauce accompanied with the savory pork. The shrimp and super burrito were both excellent. The tacos were also pretty good. The flauta appetizer was amazing with both dipping sauces. One was a cheesy sauce and the other was a fruity sauce, kind of like sweet n sour, and it complemented the savory chicken and cheese in the crisp shell. We would get it again. Pretty decent spot, and we'll be back to try a few other things in the menu. This review is actually fortwo separate orders from this restaurant. The first was to satisfy a late night nacho craving that we got delivered, and the second one was for a pick up after a long hike. The first order would honestly be a 5/5. We got the vegetarian nachos, and they were amazing. I did not think that I would actually enjoy zucchini and carrots on my nachos, but they were seasoned so well, and the staff was incredibly thoughtful with our customization. I asked for no onions and because their guacamole and pico de gallo have some in there they went ahead and put them in a separate container. I know that might seem small, but was definitely appreciated. Our carry out order was for two wet burritos, and some flan. The burritos were good. No complaints, but definitely not the best wet burritos that we've had. I got chicken for my protein, my husband got the carne Asada. I hate to say it, but the flan was pretty bad. It basically tasted like custard flavored Jell-O. We will definitely be trying the churros next time we come here. I recently tried a Chicken Super Burrito and some tacos. Overall, very unimpressive and wouldn't order again. The burrito itself is very wet inside, which is likely due to too much pico de gallo. The tacos are very dry and did not include salsa in them or on the side. The food is not completely inedible, but I wouldn't recommend it. We ordered catering for our teachers from Los Amigos through EZ Cater. We got chicken tacos, veggies tacos, quesadillas, salad. They enjoyed it! They especially found the salad delicious - the pineapple really elevated it! And the citrus dressing is quite delicious! They liked the salsas too - though even the mild had a kick, so I can only imagine what the spicy would be like. They gave HUGE tubs of salsa, so there was a lot left. read more

This place is fresh and americanized. The food itself is great but it's defintiely not what certain people would say, authentic. They do everything quite interesting here. I'll tell you what, I was really pulling for this place! It's a clean spot with friendly staff, a salsa bar and they actually bring your food to your table. What's there not to like, I mean a full service salsa bar is everyone's jam! Now to the reason for my 3 stars borderline 4 is because of the amount of rice in my burrito. So I ordered a Carne Asada burrito (my go to). And usually the first bite or 2 is mostly rice as most places but as I kept eating I started to think "did I order a Spanish rice burrito" lol! I took it personally sort of because of the rave reviews compared to what I was served, definitely a polar opposite. I'm not going to say my expectations were high as the meat ratio in my burrito was 1:8. No lies! Don't know if I'll go back and just stick to my usual neighborhood spot. Came here on a Sunday morning and found it to be a quick, casual place, to get Mexican food! Good: Large large portion sizes and also they come with a free salsa station! I got the veggie bowl and really liked the variety of ingredients that it came with - the cojita cheese, to the zucchini, it was a very healthy tasting dish and I didn't feel greasy at all after eating. Bad: The nachos were really standard, a little stale maybe, just not super fresh. Overall liked how quick the food came out, how much they give, and the price is reasonable too! read more

Today the hubs and I stopped by to give Los Amigos a try. They had some pretty good reviews so we thought we give them a try. You do need a mask to go in, they have coke products, bottle water can be purchased, they have a nice salsa bar. All food items come with chips and you help yourself to the salsa bar which includes pico (yummy). We got the super nachos sans meat. It was delicious and we enjoyed it very much. The hubs said the mild salsa was a bit hot for him I liked it. The people behind the counter know what they are doing and are fantastic. Come in over give them a try. Really great spot for Mexican food with generous portions! I was craving some Mexican food and searching on Yelp and found Los Amigos. Super glad that I came by and gave it a try because everything was really tasty! I came by on a Friday night and there was only one other person in the store ordering, but they had a ton of phone orders. I ordered a super burrito with al pastor and a super nachos with asada. It came out to around $23 for both things total. It's really cool that they have the cooking and prep station right in front where you can see them preparing your food. They are extremely generous with their portions of meat and the food is a steal for that price based on the serving size. The burrito was made really well and just layered in a great way, where you could get a single bite of every thing in the burrito, whereas some places the beans are just on one side and meat on another. I loved the nachos as they put some red sauce on top of the chips, which really added a tasty layer of flavor and is something I've never seen before. The al pastor and asada were well seasoned and both things were more than enough to feed 2 people. Parking is easy in the large shared lot. Definitely will come back in the future to try more things or to just get those amazing nachos again! read more

We got an assortment of menu items to try, including a regular steak burrito, a carne asada burrito, a quesadilla, and three regular tacos. Nothing really stood out to us, and my conclusion was that the meat just wasn't very flavorful or marinated, which kind of makes every iteration of it also not very flavorful. My husband said it was similar to Gordo's in Berkeley, where the burritos are stuffed with cheese and rice, but he preferred Gordo's to this. The highlight item was the steak quesadilla, which came with guacamole and sour cream and was surprisingly yummy. Our kids gobbled this up. For Mexican food in the area, I'd stick with Taqueria La Bamba and Taqueria La Cazuela in East Palo Alto. read more

We ordered takeout from here and it was a solidly ok experience. We got a cheese quesadilla, the super nachos with no meat, and the chipotle burrito bowl with steak. The chipotle bowl was definitely the favorite while the nachos were the least favorite. I ordered it without meat but somehow it came with a bunch of cooked zucchini and carrots on top of it which is not what I would have expected at all or wanted. I don't know if it was the cooked vegetables or something else but it just had a really odd taste to it. The cheese quesadilla was simple/just what we wanted. The other bonus is that plenty of chips came on the side, the downside was absolutely no salsa :( Might go back for something else but probably not top of my list of places to re visit read more

I'm leaving this review because I got sick off the food and I feel like everyone should know just to be careful. I don't mean any hate to this restaurant I've had their food before and it's been really good. However, yesterday I ordered tacos and a Agua Fresca Horchata from DoorDash and I put a lot lemon on my tacos. That's important for what I'm about to say I was drinking Horchata and eating my tacos and I thought it had a very sour taste. I chucked it up to, it just being all the citrus on my tacos. However, once I finish my tacos and I took a sip out of the Horchata, I realized that the drink was sour. At that point I made a conclusion that the horchata was probably made with expired milk or expired ingredients of some sort. I ended up getting very sick.
