reviewers say the owners have Porto's resume. I came and tried the Cuban sandwich. The pastrami is a bestseller . I enjoyed my sandwich, although I was expecting it to be pressed in a griddle. It was served in a baguette and without the toasting it was easier to eat but maybe less flavorful. It's definitely a good sandwich for $11. In this part of town, there are not many sandwich places like this. Give it a try, but remember it closes at 1:00 p.m. I passed by on the way through Burbank. Ordered some pies for thanksgiving and they were the star of the show!!! Ordered them so the crust was freshly crisp and sweet. I can't even choose the best of the three (pumpkin, peach and apple) but I know they are known for their peach pie. The peach pie was so delicious it was to die for with the sweetness!!! The top of the pie crust is covered in sugar crystals so good. The only issue that didn't give them 5 stars is that the bottom of the pumpkin pie was a tad bit raw but still edible and delicious; also on the sweeter side. Secondly, the bottom of the crusts are a bit too thick but you truly don't need more filling. Definitely coming back to try more I highly recommend this Glendale bakery!!! read more

Plus their Tamales have the best prices in the Glendale area. I am a new regular for this place. Will be ordering a dozen tamales next week for work. Staff were superb to deal with. Speaking English or Spanish. Hot fresh baked goods, fresh tamales, potato balls, and even got me a Asada Torta. All of these items I tried were superb. It was my first time trying the breakfast burrito, it had egg, beans, and asked to have the rest on the side (onions, tomatoes, etc..). I was so disappointed. It had whole beans and probably you can count them with one hand. I don't recommend this place and not planning to return. If I gave the two stars it was for the lady who was kind and helpful otherwise It would have a negative number. read more

I get my Volvo serviced a few blocks from this place and since I love my mechanic, I tend to drive past this tiny bakery often. For more than a year as I've driven past, I've read the writing they have on the window and I kept reading the words CUBAN SANDWICH over and over and over while telling myself that I needed to stop in and try one. Yet, I just kept driving past. Until today. The wife and I had dropped my old Volvo off at the mechanic bright and early and when I hopped in her car, the usual "What do you wanna eat?" conversation came up. Usually we over-cater to one another and even if one of us doesn't feel like having eggs or a bagel and lox, will simply go along with whatever the other person wants just to keep the peace and actually get to consume food. Sometimes we start having the conversation at breakfast time and don't get to figure it out until noon. Not today my pretties! We parked in the back of the bakery and went in. We were immediately greeted by a young woman who was sweet and very busy putting pastries in the display. She answered some preliminary questions such as "What's a Mexican breakfast sandwich?" and "Do you sell water?" We then ordered said Mexican breakfast sandwich (with no cilantro) and a Cuban sandwich (with no pickles) See? We truly hate pickles and cilantro. We wanna kill pickles and cilantro!!! Anyway, we ate in the tiny dining area and couldn't be happier. There was no ambient music. It was a little hot, but for some reason we loved it. The food was well done. The service was pretty good and the prices were nice. As we ate we talked about how our daughter would love this place and how she would gobble up some of the tasty looking pastries. This spot is good and worthy of further exploration. Next time I go in I will try the potato ball sandwich. The counter girl described it and sold me on it. Go here folks. Support local businesses and help keep a good Cuban sandwich available in Glendale!! We will return and eat more of your stuff. PS. They do sell water. Lol. read more

I walked in on thanksgiving and was helped by Regina who was very kind and helpful. They had a wide selection of baked goods (which were some of the best tasting I've ever had in my LIFE. The bakery had this nice welcoming ambiance with really pleasant music playing. I got their peach pie (which is TO DIE FOR) and lots of other yummy baked goodies! I must say, this is one of the best bakeries I've been to and I don't know how foodies aren't SWARMING this place! 11/10 get yourselves some food from here NOW! read more

I made my first visit to this bakery this morning. There is parking in the back but at 6 am there is plenty of street parking. I can say that the cuernos and elites are among the best I have had in my life. They were warm and soft and decently sized. I didn't buy any other pan dulce. That will have to wait for the next visit. The croissant was delicious. I liked it more than Porto's croissant. I was told that the cheese pastry was very good. I've been going to a well known Mexican bakery in East L.A. for more than 40 years for good Mexican bread. That won't be necessary now because Los Almendros is now my first choice. I'm looking forward to trying everything, including the tamales. Plus the service is friendly and helpful. You have to try it. read more

Glendale, CA. I was in the area. This is place is off 5 Freeway, off Western exit/ down the road. This is not just a Bakery. They open up at 5 in the morning. Their is so many breakfast items to close from at an affordable price. Everything is fresh, and served with pride. I t does seem like a to go place ? Not sure entirely about that ? I drive past this place all the time, so glad I stopped by today. Picked up some warm savory empanadas and a few pieces from the pastry case. Everything was delicious. Great prices.
