    The sassy finish!
    Tina M.

I don't think I've ever had such a great time getting my hair done. In the past I have been nervous and not very relaxed talking about my vision. With Andy I no longer have to worry about that. ANDY is the most attentive, patient, honest and trustworthy stylist I've dealt with. He's super funny and just an all around great stylist that makes you feel so comfortable and confident about your styling ideas, and without deflating your dreams he talks to you about what would work best with your hair and how to get it there. ANDY is my new hair keeper and I can't thank him enough for bringing excitement back into my hair and keeping it on "FLEEK". Thank you to everyone for a warm welcome and a great family feel. See you in a couple of months! DAY 2 UPDATE: Dear Andy, The category is Day 2 Hair Fierce Extravaganza!... 10's across the board!

yay, i don't look like a lion anymore!
    Joy S.

So i finally came back, after 6 months of growing my hair out: not on purpose, but because BOTH stylists i formerly had at Lorinda's disappeared, and also because i never seemed to have the spare cash to get my hair done again. Well, i got really bloody tired of having to wear my hair curly (its frustrating natural state) pigtails every day. I have a wedding to go to this weekend, also, and would look ridiculous with frizzy pigtails in formal attire I knew that finding another salon would be a frightening, almost-definitely-fatal experience that would further solidify my fear of getting my hair cut. So i decided to give Lorinda's another shot, remembering how well they treated me in the past, and how patient they are with salonophobes who can never make up their minds. They booked me the same day I called (although in the amount of time it took for me to wait on hold, my hair had grown another inch), and set me up with a girl named Rachel. From the moment i walked in, from the desk girl to the other stylists, i was being greeted and smiled at. I was a little early, but Rachel took me in anyway. I instantly liked her. She was my 3rd stylist here, and all of them have been really good at finding that fine line between annoying unnecessary chitchat and stony, awkward silence. They have been good at establishing a comfortable, amicable relationship with their customers. Well, i was really struggling to explain what i wanted. I brought in celebrity photos for ideas, but of course, i am not Vanessa Hudgens and never will be...so Rachel had to find a way to manipulate my frizzy, curly hair into a style that was realistic. There was a lot of consultation and discussion, without a rushed feeling (under which i can NOT operate - i hate pressure!). I'll cut this short for your sake. It took a LONG time, because we just kind of kept doing a little more and a little more as we went along, so that nothing drastic or irreversible was done. I felt comfortable piping up and saying, "No, not like that...ok, a little more here....see, i want this to poof out...." Not once did Rachel get short with me, or take it personally. I NEVER have felt comfortable involving myself in my haircuts like i have at Lorinda's, and i'm glad all the stylists i've had have had the same interactive and patient quality. Rachel even let our appointment go over into a meeting she had with her boss! Maybe that was lucky for both of us. Oh, and during my styling, the receptionist (the cute red-head with the bob) sat down next to us to record what Rachel was doing, which is helpful for next time. And she brought me some coffee just the way i wanted it. At the end of my styling (and after allowing me to ask for "just one more thing" to fix), i got what i wanted. Well, actually, i still wasn't sure if i wanted to go shorter or not. I needed to go home and see how it worked outside of the salon. Rachel agreed and invited me to come in for free touch-ups and bang trims whenever, taking the pressure off me to either get it all done THAT moment or book an entirely separate appointment (and more $$). The trim/styling (she straightened it for me, used some product, and everything) only set me back $49. I was offered the products she used, but was not pressured further when i said i didn't have the funds at the moment. Oh, and after i got home, i realized how pleased i am with my hair. I posted before/after photos in the album here, so you can see for yourself. If you've got curly hair, Rachel (who is also a curly girl) is a safe bet. I can wear my hair curly or straight with this cut. She knows a lot of tips and tricks as well. *joy

5 hours after my nails were done. I stayed at home and did not really do anything.. $35 well spent

Parts of the massage were very soothing and genuinely relaxing. Yet the flow felt a little disjointed at times. Experience was descent, just not the normal massage routine. Not bad, just a few times I wasn't totally sure what was happening. Definitely left feeling more relaxed than when I arrived. I would call it a 3.5-ish star experience overall. Next time, less interruptions would be nice, but they seemed busy. Good massage overall, just a bit awkward ;) $10 discount for a Premium 1.5hr massage as a first time customer!

I walked down the hallway and called out for assistance at 10 min after my appt time. The technician who did my service didn't speak to me. The table was flat and lightly padded, no bolster for under the knees- which made laying flat for the whole time a little uncomfortable. The Head massage was claw like, with the same motion, very repetitive. It was also rough and a little jerky. Not relaxing. No real smooth movement- it was all a little like a i was taking up her time. Some of the neck and shoulder massage was ok. But that made up a very small portion of time. The technician left a few times, while the water was just running on my hair, or when the conditioner was in hair. I had no clue what was happening or what to do. I had high hopes for this to be similar to other head spas, but this one wasn't one I'd repeat

1 Star - Very uncomfortable tipping experience…read more I have been a regular customer at this massage place and usually visit about twice a month. As someone who also works in the service industry, I understand how important tips are and I always tip fairly depending on the quality of service. In the past I have tipped anywhere between $15-$25. However, my most recent visit was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing. I booked a 90-minute massage that cost $115 after tax. When it came time to pay, I intended to leave a $20 tip, which would bring my total to $135. The payment machine actually showed multiple tip options including $20. However, the staff refused to allow me to select the $20 option. They insisted that the tip must be 30% or more, and pointed to a small note on the table that said 30% gratuity is "appreciated." They then attempted to add $30 to my bill without my agreement. This is very concerning for several reasons: * The 30% tip was never disclosed before the service started * It was not listed on the official menu or pricing * The payment machine still shows optional tip amounts but customers are not allowed to choose them * Staff attempted to force a higher tip after the service was already completed A gratuity is supposed to be voluntary unless a business clearly lists a mandatory service charge before the service begins. Posting a small note on the table and then pressuring customers at the payment terminal is not transparent and creates a very uncomfortable situation. As a loyal customer who has supported this business many times, I felt extremely disappointed by how this was handled. If a business wants to require a 30% service charge, it should clearly state that on the menu and inform customers before the service -- not pressure them at the register after the service is finished. Customers should be aware of this policy before visiting.

Luckily I did bring my yoga pants and they said it was fine for me to wear my own clothes in the meditation rooms. Normally I go to Olympus, but the last few times there it was so crowded and pretty dirty. Q is definitely a lot less crowded and much cleaner. Also, I went with a friend on a groupon which you should definitely check for as I have seen them offer these quite a bit. So process is -- you check in and they give you the "uniform" -- they only have up to size 2x and it is a small 2x IMO -- more like a 1x. It is a tshirt and shorts. They also give you your locker key. Q Spa is coED but they have separate bathrooms for men and women. They only thing coED is the meditation rooms, the common areas and the cafe. So, after paying and getting your uniform you proceed to your designated bathroom/changing room area. Your locker key has a number to show you which locker you are assigned to -- the spaces for the lockers are a little narrow, but not as much as Olympus. You can either change to your uniform or you can head straight to the pools. I like to do the mediation rooms before I get wet so after changing I headed back out to the common area. There is at least one meditation room on the ground floor but the majority of them are up stairs. I am not sure if there is an elevator for someone that is handicap? But they had a salt room, a chill room, a charcoal room and a sand room -- I love the meditation rooms. I guess the only weird thing is that there were men sitting in the common areas outside of the rooms just working on their laptops -- seems like a weird thing to do in a spa! So my friend and I spent about an hour and a half in the meditation rooms and then we were ready for the sauna, the steam room and the hot tubs! They have three different hot tubs of varying temps and a sauna and a steam room. In this gender segregated area, you remove your uniform -- so like Olympus you need to be comfortable in your own skin. It wasn't crowded at all (unlike olympus where you can be boob to boob with someone). My friend and I enjoyed this section of the spa -- it was very relaxing. We were starting to get hungry and noticed the cafe opens around 11am. So we got changed back to our uniforms and headed to the cafe. I love Korean food -- I can't recall what the dish was called but it was one of those stone bowl dishes where the food is still cooking in the very hot bowl. It wasn't quite as good as Olympus but it was still pretty yummy. Service was friendly and pretty quick too. I will definitely try Q Spa again.

I used to love coming here to relax and would visit once or twice a week when it was newer, but…read moreit's really sad that I can't do that anymore. The male visitors have turned this Korean spa into a bathhouse. You cant sit in the steam room, sauna, or hot tubs, and rest because the visitors are touching themselves and each other in there. I've tried to give it a few chances recently but this has happened the whole time during my last few visits. I thought maybe if I could visit on different times or days I could find a time to relax, but unfortunately it seems this goes on all day. There are a lot of signs saying there shouldnt be any sexual contact, but they don't seem to do anything. The only safe place for the men who want to relax is the coed saunas because you have to wear clothes and women share the area with men. As a Korean, I am just so disappointed that I can't use this Korean Spa for it's intended purposes. There are bathhouses in Seattle for these things, why can't these guys go there?
