Ordered chicken tenders, fried chicken breast/leg, fried fish, green beans, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw and cornbread. Everything was delicious! Chicken cooked to perfection and the green beans were sweet in all the right ways. Cornbread and macaroni made me feel like I was back in TN at my moms for dinner. Usually hesitant on ordering takeout, especially from new places. However, Loretta's did not disappoint. Their LG side is actually large! I'm talking they put it in a 32 ounce to go cup LG! We drove up there and it was closed. Parking lot taken apart. Well, good it needs that. However just a little miffed . No notice of there closing here or on the phone. So grateful we have an office close to this gem. I rarely get to indulge in souther comfort food because hubs is not a fan so any time I get the chance, I seek places like this out forgive me for not taking a pic like usual but I was so excited I forgot. This place serves cafeteria style. You walk through the line and pick your selections and pay at the end before you seat yourself. Fried chicken breast was the first meat I saw and I had been craving fried chicken so I instantly grabbed a piece. I go a little further and see mashed potatoes with choice of white or brown gravy. I grabbed some taters and reached for the brown gravy. Low and behold...resting in that brown gravy was country fried steak! STOP IT! I didn't care I already had fried chicken, I wasn't passing up on the country fried steak. With a huge smile I helped myself to a piece of it then covered my potatoes with the gravy. I also had Lima beans and green beans. There was so much to choose from but my plate was already to its capacity I paid for my coworkers plate as well. TWENTY ONE DOLLARS FOR TWO PEOPLE. Are you kidding me?!? I would've paid that for my plate alone! As I seated myself I noticed others had cornbread. I must have missed that or I totally would've grabbed a piece. The fried chicken was literally perfection. Breasts can get dry but not this bird! It was moist as could be. Honestly I do not understand these reviews. This place had so much good review so o went and literally from the moment I walked in I thought I was at a scoop cafeteria. If what you are looking for is basic bland food then this is your place. It is as white and country as you can get. The only thing that didn't look overcooked and mushy was the country fried steak. It tasted like breadcrumbs only. No seasoning and none in the gravy either. I took two bites and was done. Next I tried collard greens which I love. However this was a mushed up version that tasted like watery canned greens. I also tried the fried okra. I couldn't tell what it was because it was so overcooked that all I tasted was the breading. The corn bread was not bad. And the Fanta drink was good. The people were very nice but I guess this is just not my kind of place. It was like they were allergic to any seasoning. Love, love, love this place. My family and I go here every opportunity we get when we are in the area. The food is amazing, down home style southern cooking. The vegetables and homemade cornbread remind me of my grandmothers cooking growing up. The staff is very friendly and attentive and most of them have been there for a very long time. They know how to take care of their patrons. The hours of operation a bit of a challenge sometimes (they close early and aren't open certain days) so make sure you call first and make sure they are open and which meal they are serving before you go. read more

I have been to Loretta's Restaurant a few times now. I would say it is a decent place to grab some breakfast and even some soul food items like Mac and cheese or fried chicken. The food isn't more than your average Waffle House kind of food but it is very cheap and fulfilling when you need a quick breakfast. I like going here in the mornings right when I get off work. The drive thru line is always long so it's been better to just go right inside. The waiters there are super nice and welcoming. Definitely place I have made a regular go to breakfast spot. read more

We used to eat here couple of times a week. Last two visits have been below par. Today the place was out n out dirty. Bathroom was a mess. Many tables went un bused with dishes pike high limiting seating. Cheap plastic utensils were unsatisfactory, and I broke a fork on the broccoli. Mashed potatoes were watery, unseasoned and were barely warm. They were inedible. Chicken tenders were tough and had been sitting. Gravy was Luke warm. Lunch today was a real disappointment. This place has been around for years and always a fan fav for country food- breakfast or lunch only. Stopped in for the first time in a while for lunch this week craving some friend chicken, wings and okra and they had it so was quite pleased. Family type run buffet, getting a bit old but got some sweet tea, limited what I put on the plate and enjoyed it. Fried chicken wasn't greasy but tender and crispy- a good sized breast. Turnip greens were fresh and great with some pepper sauce and really what I was craving. Got come lima beans and sweet tea and didn't get rolls or a biscuit as I wasn't ready for a nap yet. Really hit the spot for a mid week lunch. I live over by Papa Jacks in FB and prefer Papas but when in Oakwood coming home from Church, if not to crowded always has been good ole food to me. Can't really say I noticed a big price increase over the years and felt the value suits at the quality of the food. You should definitely get a giant biscuit, gravy, bacon or sausage (I prefer sausage), chicken tenders, green beans, and sweet tea. The eggs are fine but not special. I feel the same way about the mac and cheese. This is good southern-style food and definitely not healthy so I'd go there when you're in the mood for a cheat meal or some comfort food. I pulled out a knife from a different place, and it was covered in gunk. Ugh! I handed the three dirty items to someone behind the counter and said "These are the first three utensils I pulled out. I think I'll try someplace else." She didn't seem to be surprised at all, and said nothing to me as I left. No apology, no appeal to get me anything clean, nothing. This place is ok but not worth the hype. Husband and I went for breakfast...now, we are not used to cafeteria style places because you can never see all the food that's up in front of you but anyway. We got mainly biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage. The biscuits were probably the best thing. The eggs were runny (yuck!) and bacon too cooked.
