This is little "Mom N Pop" diner where the love goes into the food, not the ambiance. Food was piping hot and tasty, got the Philly cheese steak with fries! I was quickly seated, served an ice cold sweet tea (which was also made just right Southern style!), and given a couple recommendations. A lot of locals were here and seemed to be enjoying not only the food but also each others company--a local hangout. Well worth the stop for the great food even if not the prettiest place. read more

Great local diner. It is exactly that. An old school diner but very good and brings me back to my childhood Grayson Cafe .

Thought I'd give this local business a try. Sadly it was not what I expected. I ordered something simple. Eggs, bacon and some grits. The eggs were very runny, bacon was just ok and the grits were gritty. The coffee was just ok. Everything lacked flavor. I gave it a one because the young lady who sat us down was very nice. The woman who took our order seemed to be in a rush, funny thing was...there was no one else there. The place seemed cute from the outside, but inside was in need of a deep cleaning. I'm sure if they cleaned up a little and made some minor updates to the place (including the menu) the place would be packed. It's in a great location. This was a last-minute change as we were planning to go to the Mainstreet Deli that apparently does not serve breakfast anymore. Perhaps they should update their website, but I digress. We arrived, and only one regular couple was there as they were talking to the owner or maybe manager. We both ordered coffee, and they had to make a fresh pot but only brought one cup, so we asked for another cup, which our waitress promptly brought. I ordered the ham and cheese omelet with a biscuit and grits. She ordered 2 eggs soft with sausage and biscuit and grits. We saw the cook start our food, and I thought we were transported to a benihanna restaurant with the banging of cooking utensils against the grill. Ok, I got a chuckle out of it. The omelet had very little flavor, the grits were runny and grainy, and the biscuit was ok, as was the bacon. Her eggs were way beyond soft and rather runny, grits the same, and the biscuit and sausage were ok. Literally, the flavor was cooked out of the food, and salt and pepper did not help. The people there seem very nice but the food is not worth a return trip. I see 5 star reviews and simply do not get it. 2 stars was only because they were nice. read more

Came here as part of our exploring the neighborhood. The service was good and the food was pretty good. It seems to be a local favorite so it seems like it can get pretty busy at times. My son enjoyed his meal and my wife enjoyed her omelette. My breakfast was good as well. Like how this place is locally owned and operated and the owner seems nice so I will support when I can. These owners have'nt a clue about breakfast. Omelette with cheese and bacon- Egg was thinner than rice paper and void of flavor. Bacon was charred harder than coal and does'nt need to be broken into pet food sized pieces. Although I could taste the cheese, I could not choke down more than two bites. So I've dreamt of having breakfast here for the longest time. It is virtually impossible for me make it there with my work schedule, that, and the fact that I never have cash on me. So today I was off work and just happened to have cash. No brainer. I think that I have been there once before many moons ago. I don't remember if it was for breakfast or lunch. The food wasn't that memorable. What was memorable was the small town, good folks, country feel of it. In that respect, nothing changed. I was immediately welcomed in and sat at the counter. I noticed that everyone in there and everyone that came in seemed to know one another. I imagined them meeting there every morning for breakfast and coffee. This was what I was looking forward to. I grabbed a menu, a folded piece of paper with grease stains, and made my selection. I really didn't need to look though, I always get the same thing - scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and grits. I got a little crazy this morning though and got home fries. Living on the wild side. Unfortunately, when my food came out the home fries weren't as expected. They were more like home made potato chips, which I like, just not for breakfast. The food was average, at best. I was a little disappointed because I had such high expectations. When will I ever learn? No expectations, no disappointment. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing to write home about. For comparison, the breakfast at Krystal's is better. I'd put this a few notches below Dennys. The food is nothing special and the condiments offered are the cheapest available. My server was very nice but the owner is rigid allowing no substitutions to the menu. In fact, I'm not certain if the owner even speaks English as she walked past me at least 10 times and never said a word. The owner didn't speak to me when she took my money either. The server, Carla was EXCELLENT but the food was way expensive and gut busting! The Hugito Burrito was like something you get at QuickTrip, packaged junk.
