I WILL NOT be going back to this restaurant. My dad is a 72 year old disabled veteran and could not stand long enough to go through the buffet line so my mom was in line fixing a plate for dad while his sister was fixing her plate. Then a waitress tells my dad he can't hold a table and told him he'd have to move that she needed to sit someone else at that table. Then she asked him to leave when he wouldn't move. Cafeteria style. Price per how much you get on your plate. Not typical diner food. I'm from NJ so I know what diners are and what they serve. This is NOT that. My parents, husband and I went right before my husband and I moved in the area. None of us enjoyed the food. Southern style food more than anything else. Grease. Loretta's can't be better. When I get to missing my granny's cooking I head to Loretta's. Fried Chicken home cooked vegatables. The green beans have enough pork meat in them can be their own meal. Their Chow Chow is fresh made and for sale in bulk. Closest to granny's I have ever found. read more

My daughter, grandson & I went for lunch last week. My daughter got a vegetable plate & small tea. My grandson got 3 tiny chicken tenders & 2 vegetables & a drink. I had 2 pcs fried chicken & 2 veggies & water. The bill was $26.00! The food was not good, just okay. It wasn't even hot. No comparison to Rabbittown Cafe, where we could have eaten for at least $8 less and had much better food. read more

Meatloaf on Tuesdays reminds me of moms! Fried chicken and chicken tenders are very good. Everything is a la carte, but entries are only 3.89! Several other entrees and ample veggies and desserts. If you're into down home southern cooking. This is great. Especially breakfast. Not the place to go if you're on a diet. Been several times. A couple of the waitresses are super nice and remember your names. Down side is I've seen two guys what I think must be the manager and owner be kinda rude and kinda talk down to them. Good food and great family atmosphere. The owner is there a lot of the time and talks to everyone like they are family. Theres always staff to assist you with taking your tray or checking on you at your table. The food is always fresh and hot, with a good variety. First I have to talk about the staff. I primarily go there for breakfast, when everyone and their brother is in a rush to get to work. Despite the hectic pace, these folks always have a cheerful smile and a helpful attitude. Today I stopped by the drive-thru and asked for my usual: untoasted bread on the side, scrambled egg, and crispy bacon (I take it to work and put it together as a sandwich--getting it separate keeps the bread from getting soggy). The cheerful voice on the intercom told me that they only had Texas Toast, would that be ok? I said yes, and she thanked me and sent me to the window. When I got to the window, I had changed my mind and asked for the bread to be toasted. With a smile, the friendly lady said "No problem", would I like butter on it, too? She completed my transaction and then asked if I would mind pulling up by the porch to wait. After only a couple of minutes, a sweet young lady brought my breakfast out to me, smiling and wishing me a good day. THAT'S SERVICE! The food is, in itself, a trip down memory lane. Having been raised in a small Southern town, I consider myself a connoiseur of country cuisine. I'm picky about my bacon and eggs. Loretta's is one of the only places I've found that knows how to get their bacon CRISP. The eggs are light, fluffy and consistently moist--no runny eggs here. The decor is simple, but neat. They recently did a bit of work and it just makes things look fresher and cleaner. They didn't update in ways that lose the feel of stepping back in time. Lastly, to anyone critical of the cafeteria style of service: in a day when we often get charged way too much for more food that we can eat, it's nice to pay for just what I get. If I want to just get a spoonful of that gravy, that's what I get, and that's what a pay for. I am in control of the portion size, and I don't end up wasting food. I like that! This will continue to be my walk down memory lane, a great way to start out the workday--where I get a hearty breakfast, and a hearfelt "Good morning". read more

The food here is pretty heavy and traditional Southern stuff, but usually tasty. I like the banana pudding, fried chicken, meatloaf and the sides. My husband had the chicken livers once and he said they were dry and over-cooked. It's a serve yourself kind of place. You load up a plate, with a main dish and your choice of number of sides. At the end of the line, you get a drink, pay and someone usually offers to carry your loaded tray to a table of your choice. Imagine a 5-day late Mother's Day dinner at Loretta's with a party of 6 and not being able to sit with your children. This happened to us tonight because 5 tables were reserved by 5 different individuals who jumped out of line to ensure their individual groups had a place to sit when they went through the line. I was extremely embarrassed and dismayed to have to stand there, trays in hand and not have a place to sit anywhere in the restaurant because 5 selfish parties couldn't wait their turn to get a table. We finally had to divide into tables of 3 in opposite corners of the restaurant. We couldn't even see each other to wave! Please, Loretta's, put an end to this bad habit by posting a very polite sign stating NOT to save tables. Everyone will understand. I'm sure this isn't the first time that's happened. By the way, the food was great and your staff was wonderful and sympathetic, but their hands were tied. read more

The food is usually always good but they have a group of playful teenagers working here. Everyone knows when it comes to preparing food for peoples consumption it is no joke. At the window I just see them hopping around and laughing. I think to myself "No big deal, just kids having a good time." Well when me and my friend get home she starts eating her burger then she pulls a really really long hair out of her mouth. After that she threw away her food and said never again. Went here just the other day for lunch, and it was so good. This is good old Southern cookin'. The green beans were so yummy, and I love their mac and cheese-it doesn't get all clumpy, but it is more of a cheesy sauce (think Stouffer's). The fresh strawberries were a great way to top it off. They are doing a lot of remodelling and it is nice to see the place get a face lift. If you wear overalls, this is a good place to hang out and meet similarly-minded people. Or get a tasty biscuit. This place has phenomenal breakfast! I am in love with their pancakes! No one makes them as good! They are light and fluffy with that perfect crispy buttery edge! I also really like their biscuits, my favorite is the steak, egg, and cheese! The staff is so friendly and welcoming, and inside is always clean. Ok, first off the food is good, the prices are good. What some of the reviewers don't understand is that there is a labor shortage, and like all the other eateries around, Loretta's is struggling. So, yes, tables go unbussed, dishes pile up, the place isn't as clean as it could be, and some staff are not as professional as you would like them to be. It's the new normal people! At least for the foreseeable future. I give them only 3 stars because of those conditions. My one complaint is the flies inside the building. There are a LOT of flies buzzing around and on all the window sills. This is due to the drivethru window which is always open as the cars are wrapped around the building. What they could do to limit this problem is to install a high powered fan over the drivetru window and entrance. This would keep the flies down. Loretta's is good folks so give them a break during these hard times. There are not that many mom and pop eateries around anymore due to this horrible pandemic. read more

We have been here several times. It's southern cooking,mostly fried but usually they have something not fried. The fried fish, shrimp and chicken tenders are very good. The vegetables are not over seasoned but very tasty. They post the menu for the week on line at their website, which is nice. Avoid the 6pm rush, go at 7pm. read more

The whole cafeteria style food joint eludes me. The ladies working the line are not helpful; even after I mentioned I had never been there before. The good is so unhealthy, everything is either fried or has butter. The salad's offered are all iceberg lettuce and ranch. How typical. The place stays busy so I guess most people have the opposite opinion. Have fun! read more
