Lorenzos is easily the best cheesesteak in West Chester. They also deserve to be in the conversation for the best in Philly. The inside has a very old school sandwich shop feel to it. As soon as you walk in you can smell the delicious cheesesteaks and pizza being made. The workers are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and are very attentive to each customer that walks in. I went with the town talk cheesesteak, which came with fried onions and cooper sharp cheese. The sandwich and fries both came out scorching hot and fresh, so I had to wait a few minutes before giving everything a try. From the first bite of the cheesesteak you can tell you are eating one of the best sandwiches you could ever have. The flavor of the meat combined with the cooper sharp and perfectly cooked onions was amazing. Holding the sandwich together was a delicious fresh cooked seeded hoagie bun. Perfect amount of crisp on the outside, but soft and delicious inside. The fries were also very good and went well with their homemade ranch. The battle for supremacy in the "Best Cheesesteak" in Philly is and has been an ongoing battle. Well fam, we now have to throw in the city of West Chester to the mix. I'm telling you this tight knit community has a heavy hitter known as Lorenzo's that can hold their own if they were in Philly. Everyone has their favorite, their "ole reliable" for that "go to" spot. A fierce competition to be number 1, and I am more than willing to accept this kind of challenge. A 1400 plus calorie induced challenge types of deliciousness, and Lorenzo's you have made it to my recommendations list. (Not an easy list to get on by the way.) Holy goodness as I entered Lorenzo's , I was greeted with an inviting aroma of ribeye on the grill doing its thing, getting ready to get its freak on when someone bites into it. We all know that hum of meat being cooked, that sizzle that just makes you do a little shimmy. Best part about Lorenzo's they always start off with a clean slate. Meaning once one steak is made they clean it off and start with the next one. They don't keep a heaping mound of meat on the grill like other places do. From what I have seen at least , that my friends of Yelp makes for a great feast to be had. So what does Nando go with? The options they offer , the different combinations of mouthwatering cheesesteaks, only to put your taste buds into shock kind of pleasures. I decided to go with Lorenzo's famous, crowd pleasing "Town Talk" cheesesteak. Slap that puppy with that Cooper Sharp cheese and lets not forget to compliment it with fried onions for the win. Two words fam.. Euphoric Bliss. Kristos the owner of Lorenzo's, a great owner I might add. Kristos is willing to talk to the patrons, and wants to hear their opinion in how to make it better. That is something rare to find anywhere, which is why I'd definitely come back, plus that menu is pretty stout. Well, it's been a while; a LONG while. New ownership after the death of the original owner, has been very kind to this business' aesthetics. Gone are the racks of basic groceries, grungy looking furnishings, and the back alley feel. Unfortunately, also gone is the quality. I ordered a cheesesteak with fried onions and Cooper Sharp, and a chicken cheesesteak with Cooper sharp. While both were fairly cheesy (no pun intended), that's where the thumbs up end. The beef was gristly, way overseasoned, and amazingly devoid of flavor, considering the salt level. The chicken was tough and chewy. Both rolls were rubbery and very chewy. But ...the place is now very nice inside, and they have also added seating. In addition the menu has been expanded greatly. Unfortunately Lorenzo's is no longer that Lorenzo's... They appear to be starting to rebrand as The Big Meat in West Chester. Fitting... Sadly, my former 5 star rating is now a lowly 2 stars. You've got way better alternatives. I've lived in Chester County for 10 years now and if I ever craved an authentic Italian hoagie, I typically found myself driving back into my old stomping grounds in Delaware County. With the exception of Primos, I hadn't found a local shop in Chester County that I felt made a solid hoagie. That is until now. I don't know why I held out so long before trying Lorenzo's. Their old school Italian was superb. Meat sliced super thin, nicely chopped lettuce, delicious roll. The staff were all super friendly and I got my hoagie very quickly. One small complaint- the long hots on my hoagie were a little hard. I feel like they may have needed to roast in the oven for a little longer. Not worth removing a star for, however. Stopped here while working in the area. Second try, they were closed the first time. Glad I made it a point to try again. Great place! I ordered the special, only $10, a Town Talk Cheesesteak (shorty), fries and a drink. It was excellent. I don't work in that area often but if I do again, I'm gonna skip the special and go for a bigger cheesesteak. Fries were good but the cheesesteak was the bomb. And the service was spot on. Ordered takeout from here after getting a recommendation from an older Italian gentleman that this is the only place he goes to to get an Italian hoagie. So we ordered the "old world Italian" and we tried their Town Talk cheesesteak and the onion rings. The 12" old world Italian would be plenty for two people or one very hungry person. Good quality ingredients. The lettuce could have been a tad fresher but generally a good sandwich. The town Talk cheesesteak was not grisly at all and nicely cheesy. Onions are a bit on the large size but well-grilled. Onion ring were tasty and appears to be homemade. My only suggestion would be the bread for the hoagie. I prefer a heftier and seeded roll for a hoagie (same roll was used for both sandwiches) and a softer, airier roll like the one served for a steak sandwich. New ownership shows! Hoagies are consistently large and delicious. Rolls are always fresh! The cheesesteaks are lacking in meat volume IMHO but are tasty. My all time favorite hoagie is the Old School Italian! Very traditional and yummy! Everything is always excellent! Fries and chicken tenders are awesome! Seating is now available but parking can be challenging. My only wish is that they use sliced onions (red onions please?) on hoagies and not diced onions. Other then that and this place is at the top of my list for hoagies. Steaks need more steak. read more

I wish I got a picture of our food, but we GOBBLED it down. These are the best cheesesteaks in the area and honestly beat out the ones I've had in Philly. They're also HUGEEEE--each large ("Hangry" size) can easily feed 3-4 people! I recommend completely loading your cheesesteak with all the fixings, especially the hot peppers! And the Cajun fries with cheese whiz are a great addition. I would also recommend ordering ahead on the phone. We were given a wait of about 45 mins for a pick up order. I kept hearing about the "Old Italian" Hoagie at Lorenzo's. It shows up often in the Hoagie Guru's Facebook page and people always proclaim it's the best. Well now that I've had it, I 100% agree. It is hands down better than any Italian hoagie I've ever had. I'm not even sure my previous favorite from T&F in Roxborough is even close. The roll is great. Not too thick. The lettuce is chopped finely. The star of the show of course is the meat... it's sliced incredibly thin making every bite nice and easy. No tough bites. Different Cheesesteak #934 in the last 4 years. Guest Eaters Amigo Dan and Wingman Eric. New owner Chris is doing a great job at Lorenzo's Steaks on the east Side of West Chester. Plain roll, a very good Corropolese roll but plain. Rib eye, I think it is a touch thicker slice. You can really taste the meat. Chris uses New Yorker American cheese. It is a little creamier. He melts some on the meat and then puts a couple slices on top. Very good amount and melt of the cheese. My favorite thing. He gives the onions and mushrooms a chance to enhance the flavor of the meat. Very good sauteed onions and mushrooms. This is a very well made and balanced cheesesteak. read more

Been hearing about Lorenzo's on Facebook ( Hoagie Gurus group). I had an appointment in West Chester so decided to take the opportunity to try them out. Their cheesesteaks are tasty but had an awkward experience that left a sour note. My husband and I wanted to order the hangry 18 inches but the cashier told us it's too much and said 12 inches would be better. If we were still hungry, she'd comp us the 6 inches difference. We paid when we ordered. Well turns out we were still hungry after the 12 inches so we ordered the additional sandwich, as per the cashier. However it was a new cashier and she rang it has 12 inches instead of 6, which I didn't notice. When we were leaving, we dropped a cash tip in the jar thinking that's all we had to pay. But then they told us we didn't pay for the second sandwich yet, original cashier not in sight. The manager came over to investigate the miscommunication. They ended up changing us the price difference between 18 vs 12. Because we already left a cash tip too, we ended up spending enough for two 12 inch sandwiches when we originally planned to have one 18 inch.
