The Business Owner said that both shoes needed the soles glued and also pointed out the shoe are actually worn out but they would glue both soles for $30.00 total cost and I seen a new pair at Macy's for $79.00 so I decided to buy a new pair. The reason for the 5 Stars is the Honesty by the Store Owner and the business has a Large variety of different things from belts to Knifes. Zippo Lighters and other items. I would venture to say even hard core vegans…read morelove the smell of leather.  Back in the day my partner was always taking her shoes here for new heels.  Girls and their heels!!! When working in the city I would sometimes drop them of at places there just for convenience but nothing as good as The Cobblers. Not only a shoe repair place but a store for boots, work boots, hats, coats etc. I even stock up on Shoe Goo here for my Merrill running shoes with the sole that can't be replaced but was told it would be more expensive if they did it so just get the Shoe Goo. This place has been around since the late 50's and run by the same family.  Shoe repair is an art that won't get taken over by AI. The only thing that will put a place like this out of business is disposable shoes and clothes.  We are not there yet for the nice stuff. So once again my partner needed heels on her boots and since nothing local it's of to Hayward. $20 up front and a few days later boots look as good as new. New heels and all polished up. So for the ladies not sure if ya'll in the clackety heel camp or the more cushie no clack camp, but they have both. My partner is in the clackety camp. You can get hear her coming on a tile floor a mile away. So not just heels but resoles and all types of repairs. There is free parking on the street and in the back. Go there, it'll be great.

They have excellent selection of shoes, western wear, leather, etc. Most importantly - they do repairs and even full rebuilds of shoes, boots, high heels, etc. I have a pair of duty boots for the fire department (Chippewa brand) that I purchased from them 20+yrs ago for the community college fire academy. After 15 or so years of daily wear and abuse, the Cobblers rebuilt them - and it was as if the boot were brand new!! I had a pull tab / loop tear off on my expensive ostrich skin western boots; they repaired it & it looked brand new. They are also INCREDIBLY skilled at re-soling shoes & boots. I have another pair of western boots, that I wear for outdoor activities; hunting, fishing, camping. Not only did they rebuild them to like-new, they installed an "aggressive" sole, so now I have a pair of western slip-on cowboy boots, which have a pair of hiking style off-road soles!! They work absolute magic at this place! Particularly for your leather shoes / boots, don't throw them away... Take them to the cobblers, they'll make them as if they're brand new!!

I waited for less than 10 minutes then he gave me the shoes it was ruined, he cuts off the fabric without tucking it inside before putting on a new heel tips. He was so rude to customers and told me not to ever come back to the shop. This man has no work professionalism. Please think twice before you come to this place for services.

10/22/2024: Fast forward from 2006 after purchasing a custom-made, leather backpack I commissioned…read moreSven's Owner's Daughter, Liza creating which I directed the design I wanted and tailored for globetrotting around the Planet, the backpack's main compartment zipper finally split! Welp~I called Sven inquiring replacing the backpack's zipper; however, to my utter dismay and severely disappointed, Sven will NOT replace the zipper. Instead, the Sven Customer Service's suggestion was taking the backpack to a Shoe Repair in Berkeley CA replacing the zipper which left me utterly taken aback and ruefully surprised, i.e., thus--a star was removed from my updated, 2024 YELP! Review! Still, the goat skin leather backpack has held its value according to Slavik, the Owner of Roseville Shoe Repair who replaced the backpack's main compartment zipper with a high-quality, metal zipper which I supplied Slavik the metal zipper and metal pull tabs. In addition, Slavik repaired the backpack's main compartment's interior, polyester lining which ripped sewing goat skin leather, lining replacement reinforcements, installed new leather pull tabs for the front compartment zipper, and the backpack's main compartment zipper pull tabs as well. Slavik also stated the leather used creating my backpack is goat skin which today, is quite costly if, I were to commission Sven creating another leather backpack, i.e., costing about $600.00 by today's present time. In fact, when I perused Sven's URL, Sven doesn't have the backpack design I created for my globetrotting needs! Indeed, I designed a unique, leather backpack NOBODY owns, i.e., which I'm so happy I commissioned Sven creating: Double pull tabs for the backpack's main compartment, double pull tabs for the front compartment, the backpack's strap can be utilized as a sling or utilized as a traditional backpack, a newly installed 2024 metal zipper for the main compartment, two exterior side pockets, goat skin leather interior lining, an interior zipper pocket, and an RFID storage compartment comprising the integrity, longevity, and retaining its high value! Overall and despite, Sven not replacing the backpack's main compartment zipper, I'm truly happy I had commissioned Sven's Daughter, Liza creating a goat skin leather backpack NOBODY owns! Hmmm~Maybe I should patent and copyright my design, eh, Sven? Lol!

With the zipper, you never lose them. Brilliant design. SVEN are the only purses I buy and most of my family has received a wallet or travel purse at this point. The owners are very friendly and there was a little bit of a language barrier, but I think we worked around it just fine. I had 3 pairs of shoes repaired and 3 pairs of boots resoled and they did a wonderful job; great craftsmanship! The only downside is you cannot pay with any kind of cards, credit or debit are not accepted, so be prepared.
