    Cheese Empanada and Mushroom Empanada
    Mitchell A.

My husband and I have passed here so many times and always said we wanted to stop in, and we finally did! We were greeted by Javi who had a big smile on his face and offered up suggestions on what to get. We each got a cheese empanada and then I got mushroom and my husband got the pork. They were DELICIOUS! Authentic Chilean empanadas made to order, they offer different sauces to dip in too. We ordered a red pepper aioli and the cilantro lime crema, both incredible. The entire time we were there was beautiful Latino music playing. It was the perfect lunch - we will be back ASAP to visit Javi and Lorena!

I finally got a chance to try Lorena's Empanadas and I was not disappointed at all. The owner, Lorena, was there, cooking away. The staff is friendly. I ordered the cheese and meat empanadas with a side of chili sauce. The empanadas were made right then and there and were fresh and hot. When I got home to eat them, the dough was crisp and not overcooked. The meat was a little spicy but not crazy hot and delicious. The cheese empanada was equally delicious and the sauce was a nice touch - just the right amount of spice. I highly recommend going here - you will NOT be disappointed!

If you've ever had Mexican especially tacos this is one of the closest places I have tasted to Texas or California tacos. I got the barbacoa tacos and it was cooked to perfection, the tacos were stuffed and filling and I left full but wishing I had room for more. I'll be back to this place on my way through Kittery!

The service from Teresa was good -- she was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the food was extremely disappointing. The meats were some of the worst parts of the meal. The chorizo and steak on the nachos were tough and unpleasant, the carnitas tacos were so dry they were more like jerky, and the ground beef lacked even basic seasoning. The chips served with both the salsa and nachos seemed stale, almost as if they had been fried days earlier. They were incredibly hard -- hard enough that you genuinely worried about breaking a tooth. We came in excited to try something new, but sadly left very disappointed. Honestly one of the worst restaurants we've ever eaten at. I never write reviews, but felt compelled!

You walk in and the vibe is fun, colorful, and eclectic. It reminded me of a classic Mexican restaurant with a tasteful, funky modern touch. My watermelon margarita was incredible and we got the salsa trio that had a good mix of spicy mango salsa, a mild but flavorful green salsa, and fresh pico de gallo style. The chips did taste homemade but if not still enjoyed the thicker corn style chip you don't usually find in restaurants! We each got 3 street tacos and all were great, even the sweet potato taco! The chicken was chopped a bit thick for street taco style but it was still great flavor, and rice was a bit salty but not unbearable. The service was also incredible, I love a restaurant that boxes up your leftovers for you and our server was super super attentive and friendly. We will be back!!

We (parents and a toddler) arrived hungry after driving two hours and had a hard time getting his attention at times. We arrived before 6pm on a Friday but still there was a wait. Once we were seated, the server was pretty prompt and really friendly, though generally service was somewhat slow with a wait for food. We were waiting almost an hour for entrees and about to change our order to to-go because of stress with our exhausted toddler, but of course that's when the food arrived. We had to shovel it in and leave. The food was the most disappointing part. The chips are clearly not homemade. The salsa didn't have much flavor, and the guacamole was a huge letdown. It had a dull green color and very "slop" style texture (think sour cream texture, not chunky like real guac) that all pointed to store bought / not fresh. I had the chicken enchiladas, and the sides of rice (so salty) and beans (very soupy) brought down an already undesirable dish. The enchiladas were cooked nicely but far too cheesy. The green sauce was nearly tasteless, the red sauce is what made it all edible. Wouldn't ever really come back here. I wish I could say something more positive!

Ambiance/atmosphere: really nice and quite inside. The place wasn't too big, but not small enough you couldn't find a secluded spot if you wanted to. Nice music, vibrant color, and a really nice smoothie bar. Food: I ordered the steak and papas and it was delicious. Very well seasoned filet with crispy and fluffy soft potatoes with rice and really good pickles pink onions. I added quac and cheese onto it after mixing things together and when I ordered an extra side of steak they really hooked me up. So delicious. My dad ordered the patacon which has a very large and perfectly friend piece of savory plantain and topped with chicken and added steak with quac, lettuce, tomato, and a side of rice and black beans. For starters we ordered the yuca which was perfectly fried and crispy with a really good garlic aioli and cheese blanket over top. We also ordered the sweet madudo(sweet plantain) which came with cheese and was perfectly sweet and tender. So delicious. The side of tostones(savory plantain) was again perfectly friend and salted and with that garlic aioli dip and quac with pico de gallo it was fantastic. The empanadas came with all types of flavors. The beef was my favorite and had an amazing juicy, salty, and tangy flavor with the crispy casing. I'll say to skip the chicken, it was bland and had no flavor. My mom ordered the dessert empanada with cheese and a fruit inside and she said it was delicious and I'll say I can second that. The smoothies were delicious and had plenty of options to choose from. My mom ordered a Columbian milk coffee and said it was one of the greater ones she's tried, possible the best.

After driving 40 minutes we arrived 10 minutes early as they don't open until 430; no problem ,they saw us in the parking lot and waved us in. Unusual as most places guard the door to the second. They sat us immediately, and introduced us to our server Alyssa ,who turned out to be the most knowledgeable , professional person we have ever met. And we have been dining out and working in the industry for many years! The fun began; my wife ordered her Filet Mignon and I asked Alyssa what she recommended , shocking me she said The Skirt Steak with marbled potatoes with the empanadas as an appetizer. I was certain she would have said the Porterhouse or Tomahawk to upsell us but she was spot on as it was incredibly tender and flavorful . In summary it was the most delightful fine dining experience we have ever enjoyed! Thank you Alyssa and your incredible chefs and fellow servers for unforgettable 56 anniversary dinner!

We wanted to try a little bit of everything, so decided on the mixed grill for 2, with mashed potatoes and fires on the side. We started with the focaccia bread and oil dressing that were very good. We also got the enchiladas, one spicy cheese and the other beef. These were okay, nothing crazy but enjoyable. However, the mixed grill was simply not worth the money. The sausage was over cooked, strip steak flavorless and the long short ribs were tough. The chicken was okay, but nothing better than anywhere else I've had grilled chicken before. Our waitress Jennifer was amazing. And when she asked how our experience was, she could see by the lack of food we had eaten, and the expression on my face, we were not impressed. We ended our meal with the tres leches cake that was very good. Overall, this place is a gimmicky tourist trap that over charges for their "atmosphere" and prays you get drunk off their $250 wine before you order. I thought for sure it would be decent, and was wrong. I would hate to see the quality in peak tourist season. Leaving hungry was not something I imagined.
