Great coffee and friendly service! My friend and I ordered ahead online and our drinks were ready when we arrived. The pistachio and rose latte had a nice, unique flavor and my coffee with steamed almond milk was so good! They make the almond milk in house and it was spot on. The baristas were both great too...we had a nice chat with them when picking up our drinks and they even added a shot to my friend's latte to make it hot again. However, both patrons and employees are generally well spirited and cordial...so it's really not an issue. I have been coming to Lorca for several years and I really enjoy their coffee and pastries! Especially since the cafe expanded it is a really great place to sit and enjoy good food and drinks. I just wanted to provide some feedback however on the food I ordered today. I came on a Saturday morning around 11:30 and it was pretty busy but not insanely packed. I got the Lorchata which was delicious as always and was made and given to us right away. We then waited about 15 minutes for our food which wasn't terribly long. My quiche Lorraine tasted great and came with a simple side salad. The dressing was described as a lemon vinaigrette but was pretty heavy on the oil and it didn't really taste lemony. My quiche was also supposed to be served warm but was still pretty cold in the middle, so I think most of the time we spent waiting was not waiting for the quiche to be warmed up but for the breakfast sandwich we ordered to be made. We ordered the Rancheros sandwich without chorizo to make it vegetarian. It could have had more salsa, especially without the sausage, but was otherwise good. My dining companion said the bread was his favorite part of the sandwich. I will definitely return, I am a fan of Lorca and I think they have become a great community staple, but for the price of my meal ($37 w/ tax & tip) I hope for a bit more consistency in the quality of their food. I'm very disappointed this morning. I have been frequently supporting this coffee shop and continued to come despite how slow the staff is compared to other local coffee shops in the area. My first complaint, is the lack of proper coffee lids. I asked the staff why the coffee seems to spill and leak. I was told that due to the pandemic they can not place orders for the proper lids so on occasion coffee my leak on you. I wasn't that pleased with knowing that we pay a good amount of money for them to willing know that coffee my spill on their customer's clothes mid meeting. They should highly consider teaming up with a dry cleaning business. All jokes aside, I continued to support them for months as they are local and I did enjoy the coffee. Today, I ordered a breakfast sandwich. I realized the order was incorrect and asked if they could replace. The lack of reaction from the staff was unbearable in the hospitality industry. I was stared at as if I had five heads. I was grateful that they provided me with a new sandwich, however, the experience was awkward and uncomfortable. I never received an apology and was given attitude for simply saying the order was incorrect. After all of that I went home to enjoy the breakfast sandwich and, well, I think the photo alone can speak for itself. My garage can had a delicious breakfast this morning. Cute space, get an NYC cafe vibe here which I missed due to the pandemic! Have yet to try their drinks...mainly because their matcha is sweetened which was really odd and to me especially because they have unsweetened almond milk which I love. Despite the matcha, I have to give them 5 stars for their pastries. The honey almond cup was simple and delicious, the guava cream cheese muffin was so unique and moist and the real winner was the chocolate chip cookie. One of the best I've had. I highly suggest eating it warm. They do have some standout items that peaked my interest like a tres leches iced coffee and their "lorchata." I've passed by Lorca on several occasions and had to stop in for a snack after hearing about the pastries. The small, inviting storefront with a shelf of goodies at the front let me know I was in the right place. I tried their banana bread, their earl grey scone, and some alfajores (!!! what a pleasant surprise to find) and was not disappointed. The winner for me was definitely the earl grey scone; it paired well with my coffee (iced caramel latte w/ oat milk--also good), and I've heard that these sell out pretty quickly as well, so get them when you can. There's free Wi-Fi if you'd like to settle in if you can find a seat. I'll definitely have to make a return trip to try out some of the other pastries, savory options, and the London fog tea latte that I was eyeing. read more

Y'all. Why are you rating perfectly mediocre coffee shops as 4/5 star establishments? We stopped here during a road trip and were lured by the high rating, number of reviews, and fancy looking photos suggesting something better than Dunkin. Turns out it's strictly marketing, because this was not good. I had the chai latte and a muffin, hubs had an iced coffee. The chai was watery, the muffin dry (with the guava and cream cheese unevenly distributed), and hubs was equally disappointed with the coffee - basically chilled, watery milk. Service was slow and disorganized. Management should really think about upping their staffing on weekend mornings. Seems like this is pretty obvious - your employees are very understaffed. read more

My favorite seasonal items are the pistachio rose cardamom latte (please make it a regular!) and the autumn latte (a refined version of the PSL). I also love the matcha latte. Spent $50 and really wonder why so many cafes and restaurants are going downhill. My favorite coffee place in the area. While we moved from Stamford to Greenwich (and now it's not as close), we still go to Lorca every few weeks! They have amazing beans, great baristas and really good pastries / sandwiches! They have a lot of COVID safety processes, and in the summer had outdoor seating available. Highly recommend. I am thankful for this style of cafe and it's convenient location on Bedford St, Stamford. They specialize in high quality coffees, teas and churros. I must admit, I don't get too excited about the baked goods, sandwiches and soups, but when they are delivered to other customers, they are welcomed with a big smile and audible gratitude. The coffee is right on. I am satisfied with the house brew because I am usually in a rush, but the pour over is a treat if you have the time and funds. My wife likes the hot chocolate which says a lot. She is very picky about her hot chocolate and she is more than satisfied with Lorca's product. Years ago they had coffee tastings which I enjoyed. I believe they offer community get togethers, but you would have to check with the location on that one. If you are looking for a place to sit and get work done, you better get there early because seating is limited and turnover is not often. This place is the bomb.com. My wife and I randomly walked in after a terrible experience at Winfield coffee just around the corner. Immediately my wife was greeted with such kindness and respect. The coffee is to die for. The sweet treats are worth writing home about. The staff is so sweet and make drinks pretty quick and hot. The owner Layla is so nice and chatted with us at 8am. Lorca is an adorable little coffee shop in downtown Stamford. It's the only game in town really, unless you want to drive. The coffee is pricey but great. They have a nice selection of baked goods, including vegan and gluten free options, and some solid breakfast sandwich and lunch offerings. People go crazy for the churrros, although those are a little sweet and carby for me so I haven't tried them. There's not much seating, but it's efficient. There's no WiFi, but there's the downtown Stamford WiFi available. I think their avocado toast could be a little better, and sometimes it takes a long time to get your order. I'm not much of a coffee guy (actually I'm not much of a hot drink guy...to be exact) but every now and then a caffeine boost doesn't hurt. I'm always in the downtown Stamford area and I was in definite need of an energy boost so I finally decided to give Lorca a shot. Venue Typical coffee shop. Small with wooden tables and benches that are often occupied by someone with a Mac or tablet that is taking full advantage of their "working from home" status. You might catch some friends who stopped in for a quick catch up. And then you have the individuals who want to scroll Instagram in peace. Coffee So I've only been here twice and both times I got a Flat White with extra or full vanilla or whatever the sweetener is. First time: I was actually pleasantly surprised. Decent amount of sweetness, perfect amount of froth, and it wasn't blazing hot to the point where I couldn't drink it immediately. Second time: not even close. Second time around it just tasted like burnt, bitter, frothy coffee aka shit! Service So I mentioned that I've been here twice and along with the taste of the coffee being completely different, the service was different as well. First time: some young woman took my order and was extremely patient with how amateur I was at ordering coffee. She just smiled and said "ok" every time my indecisiveness took over and I tried to change something. I did wait a little minute for my order (I'm going to blame that on what I ordered and not who made it) but not long enough to that point where there needed to be a complaint. I did notice however, that the person making that coffee was using their finger to level out the grounds instead of like a knife or some flat object that I've seen most people use. A little cringey to know that someone's finger is all over the coffee, but giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe they didn't have access to one at the moment. In any event, first visit was pleasant and I was happy with that I got. Second time (this time with my wife): the person taking the order could not have been more uninterested in being there. After taking the order of the person in front of us she basically went on to do some busy work while we just stood there. Eventually, she came back and spoke in this 2 decibel monotone voice and then just walked away to go do something else without even taking the order in its entirety. As we stand there like deers in headlights, another employee decided to finally put his phone down and help us out...another seemingly uninterested person who also spoke very low. (The irony of employees, working at a coffee shop, and appearing to be more tired than their patrons.) Thankfully, he took the order in full and now we just wait. Speaking of the wait, it was still a bit long AND they were still using their finger to level off the coffee...I guess that's just how they do things there. Also noticed that the towel/rag that was being used to wipe down the stations and machines looked a little on the not clean side. SMH. And I already told you how the coffee turned out. Not so pleasant second visit to say the least. Misc. After the second visit I spoke with a friend that pretty much put me on to Lorca. Explained the whole thing and they expressed to me that depending on who's behind the register/coffee machine determines if she even goes in or not. Wish I would have known that beforehand. I don't think I'd cut them off completely because that first Flat White was amazing...so I'll probably just wait a while and then give it another go. As for my wife...she's completely over it.
