This place has great coffee but the most ridiculous laptop policy ever. I thought they finally abandoned it when I walked into and didn't see a sign. 45 mins later they come kick me out for having a laptop open and point to a small faded sign printed on the counter where you'd never notice it. They removed the older more visible sign. I wouldn't have purchased anything if I knew since the whole point of the coffee and food was to have a place to work out of the house for an hour or so. I'm told that I can buy one cup of coffee and sit for 4 hours and read a book, I can sit for 4 hours and watch YouTube on my phone or iPad, or I can basically do all manner of reclusive things sitting by myself - but I am not allowed to sit and spend an hour or two writing on my laptop. Only the laptop is anti social, apparently. On days that I work from home, I like to get out of the house for a bit in the morning, enjoy a wonderful Kyoto cold brew and a coffee cake or Cinnamuff, and maybe get a second bite a bit later. And yes, get a bit of work done :) There are plenty of places in the area to go sit for hours and hours of work, so that is never my intent here, but to flat out ban laptops at all hours no matter how empty the store sure seems silly to me. I don't need to spend $15 to take my coffee back home. (I did once try emailing the owner to have a productive discussion on this but was ignored.) read more

I'll start off by saying I love this cafe and have been a customer for years because the staff is nice, make beautiful lattes compared to most cafes, have unsweetened almond milk and have reliably good pastries/food. HOWEVER, the prices are kind of absurd. Almost $9 for a MEDIUM iced matcha. Not worth it. That's almost the price of a meal! Why even charge extra for alternative milks at this point being that they're so mainstream at this point. I also don't know what their loyalty points go towards because they expire and I've never once gotten any benefit from them. read more

If you've ever wanted to get scolded for thinking too hard in public, CFCF is the spot. I ordered a quiche that was somehow both heated and cold -- a true feat of modern science. The latte was fine, but my laptop apparently committed a crime. An employee informed me they have a strict no laptops policy -- which is interesting, considering the place was packed with women who look like they've been sipping iced lattes since the Bush administration and haven't eaten since the first one. Phones, however, are allowed -- because clearly, the energy of a glowing rectangle shifts dramatically depending on its hinge-to-screen ratio. Let me start with the positive.....This place is pretty cool as far as getting a cup of coffee but terrible if you need a coffee shop to go and get deep work in. They don't give wifi or allow laptops. The only way id characterize it would be as the anti-coffee shop... coffee-shop. I think this place would do alot better once they get rid of that policy but the manager said they want to make money and dont want people to come and work and stay so I guess we will see. read more

Had a work conference nearby and needed some coffee. This shop is so beautiful and loved their pastry and food options. I treated myself to a Nutella croissant which was perfectly flakey! The prosciutto sandwich was also filling and flavorful. My iced mocha was just ok - I didn't get a good chocolate flavor which was a bit of a letdown. They didn't have very good signage for their syrups or specialty flavors so kind of panicked and ordeted a mocha. They also didn't have Wi-Fi or any tables with plugs, not an ideal coffee shop for working. read more

Apparently I'm not the first person write a similar review but let's pile on. I settled in to do some work after ordering a sandwich and coffee. It was raining outside and I needed a place to get some work done in my laptop. A almost a good hour into focusing on my laptop, the lady at the counter tells me that laptops aren't allowed. When I asked why, she repeated herself like an automation and again I asked why. She said it's the owner and then gave a sorry not sorry attitude as she walked back to the counter. The customers sitting behind me were loud and obnoxious,, but it seems like my laptop use was the real disruption. First off, put a sign somewhere in that drab place that laptop use is not allowed so people aren't confused, and secondly don't have photos of people using laptops on your Yelp page if they aren't allowed, which was I went there in the first place read more

Come for the quality roasted coffee beans, stay for the gourmet pastries and ambience! Coffee: I had their Latte Macchiato, pictured along with this review. Pastries: I had their Cinnamon & Honey Scone and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not dry, but perfectly soft and moist! They also have other breakfast food items to eat. This policy feels completely unreasonable, especially for customers who need a spot to work briefly. CFCF recently opened a new location in riverside. I love the setting of CFCF and how you can go to relax and catch up with friends or after a workout. Easily one of my favorite coffee shops in Fairfield County. I love their mocha coffee, but if coffee is not your thing, then get the Matcha with oat milk and thank me later! I sometimes go there just to see if they have olive oil cake because it is that good. Beautiful locations that are just so modern, yet cozy. I'm also a little bummed about the computer policy. I frequent one of the 3 locations daily. I completely understand implementing no laptop policy on the ave or grigg, where the stores are smaller. Riverside location has ample seating, though. I'd hope it would be sufficient for people to use their best judgement with laptops here: don't use your laptop for any sort of extended session when it's super busy, keep ordering drinks, etc. I never stay with my laptop for more than like 90 minutes absolute max anyway, and I could easily order lunch and a few rounds of espresso during that time. anyway, there are so few places, if any, in the area for an inspiring change of scenery for doing laptop work. I'd urge management to reconsider. read more

CFCF is one of those places where I just don't understand what's special about it. They have decent coffee at a premium price. The food is good...but it's not amazing. It's an acceptable coffee shop, but looking at the lines at this place and the sparkling reviews, you'd think they'd have 3 Michelin stars. They're fine. Love their iced tea, scones, oat milk lattes, and ricotta pancakes. Every morning before work I go to CFCF. All their staff is extremely nice no matter what location you go to and work very fast. The shop is always very clean and has nice seating. I highly recommend this place. read more

Was working at a health fair on Saturday and was running late so I couldn't hit my normal coffee spot. Walked into this place after reading the reviews and was excited to try a new spot in Stamford. Was pretty impressed with all of the organic food on the menu and the trendy nature of the shop only to find that none of the coffee was organic... which didn't make much sense to me. May sound snobby, but coffee is one of the things that I refuse to drink non-organic due to the amount of pesticides that get sprayed on coffee beans. This is one of the most beautiful coffee shops I've been too. There's tons of seating and free parking to the side of the building. They have really good coffee and chai tea as well. Something to note is they don't allow computers inside, that's fine for me since there are plenty of other places but I know it might cause issues for some who are looking for a place to work or study. I usually bring a book with me to read for a little bit and just relax or meet friends here and it's perfect for that. read more

I just walked out of the E Putnam location, sitting in my car as I write this. I encountered unwelcoming customer staff with poor customer service. Particularly this young Latina woman, long curly/wavy hair who was speaking in Spanish and probably didn't realize I could understand her. Not a hello or thank you. Not a greeting at all. She took my order with a miserable look on her face. I was in the area for a doctor's appointment and decided to stop here for coffee. When my order came, I put on the wrong lid by mistake that was on the counter and she made fun of it to her other coworker. How rude and unprofessional is that? Very bad first impression. The staff here needs to be trained on proper etiquette and customer service. For a quality coffee shop, I expect good customer service. The place is absolutely beautiful but the employees don't even acknowledge you or talk in my experience. Coffee is good, patries are good but as someone who understands the service industry its so important to be kind and acknowledge others and I don't feel like thats something they do here. I want to continue to support local business but IMO the employees need to be trained to at least ask what I want. Cashier just staired at me, without a word. I said thank you politely and she didn't even respond to me.
