The outside of Java Joe's inside the train station
Lorrice G.

True confession, I sometimes get on the wrong train so I can transfer in Stamford at Java Joe's! Yes the almond croissants call me. They are flaky fresh buttery goodnes that sometimes I can't resist. The coffee is rich and smooth not bitter just right. The staff are quick and friendly. I love a good cup of Joe and a warm smile in the morning. There are fresh muffins and fruit, breakfast sandwiches and an array of beverages to get you going in the morning. The next time your in the mood for a great cup of joe and a tasty treat pass the extremely long DD line and make a B line for Java Joes.

Fast service and good coffee. The quality was so so. Not poor quality just nothing special.

Barista they are not. This establishment doesn't know anything about Cappuccino and their croissant taste a week old

Inside, the café is clean, inviting, and has a warm atmosphere that's perfect for grabbing a coffee or catching up with a friend. I ordered a large cold brew with vanilla syrup, and it was easily the highlight of my visit. Smooth, refreshing, and nicely balanced without being overly sweet. I would absolutely order it again. For food, I tried the Breakfast Burrito, although it's really closer to a Crunchwrap than a traditional burrito. It comes with scrambled eggs, bacon, peppers and onions, cheddar cheese, avocado mash, tater tots, and lima crema. On paper, it sounded like a home run. Unfortunately, the execution did not live up to the description. It ended up being extremely greasy, mushy, and surprisingly lacking flavor despite having so many ingredients. I kept expecting each bite to get better, but it never really did. It was one of those dishes that had a lot of potential but just missed the mark. My cold brew and breakfast came to $23.84 with tax, which felt a little expensive for a breakfast wrap and coffee. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the coffee because it was excellent. As for the food, I'd probably try something different next time. If the kitchen can match the quality of the coffee, this place could be a real standout.

This is an excellent spot here in Stamford. The Vibe: The…read morevibe feels like as if Ikea had a cool, older (non-pretentious) cousin (let's name him..Ben.) that moved here from San Francisco and was frustrated he didn't have a no-fuss coffee shop to easily ride his bicycle to that made him feel calm, focused and glad that also offered great beverages, to work out of so he opened this place. IF that makes sense to anyone else. (If not: It's well decorated, fresh and modern and clean with more industrial vibes than Ikea vibes (Hence the cool older cousin reference). This is a great place for Ben to work alone out of, meet us with a client or partner, a friend, or even bring a date for coffee and/or wine. But if anyone isn't into coffee or wine, they have really great extra options. Kombucha on tap, and my favorite: the turmeric latte..yum! Location: While this is located in a very busy area in Stamford, I love that it isn't directly downtown. I also love that they're in a location with parking (even though it can get a little chaotic in that lot, it's still nice to not have to "find" parking) If ever I have to bring something to the UPS in that strip, I'm excited because it means I'll plan to stop here too. I also love that it's so close the my barre studio making it all a set up for a great day. And while I'm all for supporting local businesses, I love when local businesses give their customers incentive to choose them (as if they needed to) but they offer a punch card for a free beverage which I just think is nice.

The space itself is clean and comfortable. It does lean a bit darker inside, but that seems to be part of the aesthetic they are going for. It gives the place a relaxed coffee shop vibe that works well if you want to sit, unwind, or get some work done. The coffee is solid. It is good, just not the best I have had. Still enjoyable and worth grabbing if you are stopping in. Their snack selection is where they shine a bit more. When the pastries are fresh they are really good. I have tried a few items like the banana loaf and lemon loaf and they have both been tasty and satisfying with a cup of coffee. Overall this is a great place if you are looking for a clean, generally quiet, and relaxing spot to enjoy a coffee and a sweet treat. I would definitely recommend stopping by.

PROOF... of incompetence, racism or both…read more My wife is a regular customer and usually stops by for an espresso drink as we do not have machine at home. I typically get nothing as their drinks just don't hit the spot for me (average at best). Usually we park on the side of the street going straight into coffee shop and I wait in the car just in case it needs to be moved. She hops out, gets her drinks and the whole thing takes maybe 3-5 min. Today, I was chilling in the car waiting for her, but all over sudden realized that at least 5 people that placed the orders after her and were served before her (espresso drinks and all). Turns out that she ordered double espresso for her and half-caf/half-decaf for me. The staff couldn't execute the drinks or whatnot (they don't do decaf? don't know what double espresso is?) and just kept her waiting while servicing other customers. At some point I guess, they just stopped responding to her inquiries about the drinks. Finally a different person appeared on the shift, my wife got her money back, and we left. Why racist? Hm... Let me think, would the same thing happen to white American male? That is, waiting for 15 minutes for inept staff? The staff was probably new as my wife have not seen them before, but that is no excuse for the lack of basic decency.

No issue with food. And the seating area/couches are kept pretty well maintained so you feel comfortable actually staying awhile. I only went in the morning so the place was still a cafe and shared workspace then. I think in the evening it transforms into a brewery. Inside it's very large and spacious, definitely quiet enough people could work but large enough you don't feel crowded. Most tables were already filled with 1-2 people working on tablets and laptops by the time I got there, but thankfully I was able to find some comfortable seating. If you want to snag a spot I suggest you arrive early - seems to be a popular place. I wish it was just a tiny bit easier for me to get in, but that's not a big deal as well. I had a stroller with me - you can enter from the back ramp if you're unable to take stairs for any reason but you just need to call them because the door is locked otherwise. Not a real issue, but I think I just wish it was open in general so I don't feel like an inconvenience to employees. I understand the business decision however. Overall, highly recommend.
