Super comfortable and nice staff. The fountain soda is always slightly flat though. The menu isn't super autism-friendly because they don't have a frier or french fries of any sort, but the best they offer is plain grilled cheese and potato chips if you or your kid have limited diets. Along with drinks at Shanachie Pub and breakfast at Ardella's Kitchen, a sandwich at Loose Caboose is one of my requisites for a visit back to the old stomping grounds. The sandwiches are great, big and gooey and toasted to perfection. My favorite is the oriental express (there is a train theme for the sandwich names--can you imagine?) which is bbq chicken heaven. And it comes with pickles and pepperoncini on the side. My only complaint is I wish they had a deep fryer so I could get my sandwich with fries, but I'm not going to ding a star for that b/c I know the folks at Loose Caboose are just trying to help me with my french-fry addiction. And besides, any star they might have lost for that would be replaced by the fact that you can get a cherry coke that's made with maraschino cherries in it (granted, styrafoam cups = boo!). When I was in High School my friend swallowed the ball on her tongue stud--it came off while she was trying to tie a cherry stem from her cherry coke into a knot with her tongue. Recommended by a former long time resident who grew up in the area. The food here was amazing. Very family friendly and the food, amazing. I'm now a big fan of the "45" and the vegetarian chili. You can tell that the people preparing the food know how to combine flavors. I was glad my wife noticed the ATM and wondered if the place was cash only. Sure enough, we saw the sign by the register. Very cozy and cute place in the heart of Willits. Don't blink or you will miss the street it is on. We had the Reuben Sandwich, a Salami Sandwich, and two bowls of Clam Chowder. A chicken sandwich, with cheese and green chili. A lovely sandwich. The price made me inquire if fries are included but they were clear that "it comes with a pickle and pepperchinies, we don't do fries, you can have chips for a buck fifty." No probs, I was just checking. She explained the Santa Fe was the best sandwich. I would agree it's a good sandwich but not the best. I think the iceberg lettuce alone takes away from the experience. I mentioned my allergy to avocado so they held the ago. Very nice. Krista had the salad and explained that some things cause migraines... I absolutely love this place! I am not from the area but now that we have friends around here this place is a must whenever we visit. Awesome sandwiches and salads. My hubby was happy when the root beer float he ordered was Henry Weinhard's. You can also customize a toddler plate and everything is cut up into bite size pieces. Some great soups that we have enjoyed over the years. Some pretty good sandwiches and a very cute set up. Waitresses are efficient and pleasant. Food is served promptly. Overall we liked eating here. Now I feel like I have been missing the best part of Willits for the past 5 years! If I had known how good the food was here, I wouldn't have even bothered with the other sandwich shops.
