That's my experience of Northspur. I've never stopped here with friends, but I've thought of my friends while I've visited. As in, this is a place my friends would really like. The Willits bypass as observed by others and maybe other places by me was an unnecessary boondoggle that not only separated normal CA taxpayers from their money so as to avoid maybe five minutes extra travel time as they whisked north to ... to where would anyone need to be whisked in the north. I-5 is for whisking. 101 is for a different kind of trip. Not only that, the bypass also then has folks that don't know what's in Willits pass right on by. Their loss, though also a stake in the heart of the vitality of local business. Thanks, legislature, Caltrans and people that make money building things we don't need. This then for the people that would otherwise whisk by without stopping and are maybe hungry and turn to Yelp as the leave Ukiah to see what's ahead. Northspur is ahead, my friends. And if it's late in the day, get a room in town so you can sample every drop Northspur has to offer. The vittles aren't complicated, the menu isn't exhausting - but everything on it is good. The brewed offerings are delicious. Staff is straight out of Lake Woebegone (all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average). Friends with friends are having a rollicking good time and the vibe vibes with this happiness. I will stop every time. Try it once and I guarantee you will as well.

Fantastic Experience at Loose Caboose Restaurant! My family and I yesterday visited the Loose Caboose Restaurant, and we had an absolutely delightful experience! We ordered two sandwiches , cheesecake blueberry and a hot dog, and each bite was bursting with flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant was charming, especially for my son who adores trains. The walls adorned with vibrant train paintings and photos of trains everywhere made the atmosphere truly special. It felt like dining in a cozy train-themed paradise! The food exceeded our expectations, and the service was exceptional. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience. Loose Caboose Restaurant is definitely the best place to eat, especially for families with kids who love trains. We can't wait to visit again soon! Highly recommended. read more

The food was amazing. The staff very nice. Had the Pesto Chicken Sandwich. BUT... Why cash or check only? Not a good thing to find out when you don't carry cash and are traveling. Conveniently they had a ATM Machine at the counter for you. The $2.95 fee to get your cash was unexpected. There's this thing called Square that might help this place take cards. Weird to see any business for cash only. And only 3 parking spots!! read more

The first thing we noticed was that there was no hot water in the bathroom, which isn't ideal--especially on a cold night and from a hygiene perspective. Ray ordered the ribeye steak and was pretty disappointed. While it was $28, it lacked flavor and didn't have a proper sear or crust--it was gray and just not enjoyable. I ordered the vintage burger on toasted sourdough, and that was actually very good. I enjoyed it and thought it was well done. I really like to give full stars when they're deserved, but this experience just didn't quite add up. Great service and a clean space, but the food inconsistency and no hot water made it hard to rate higher. Hopefully these are things that can be improved because the staff--especially May--was excellent.

The people who ran the place were very friendly, and when they brought out my food, dear Lord... It was in a large box. I couldn't believe how much food I got. I brought it back to my room, and it was amazing. The soup had chicken, beef, and shrimp. The broth had a great flavor, and between the meat and the veggies, which were not mushy at all, there were a lot of "goodies" inside. It also came with a very decent sized portion of crispy rice to put in the soup. The moo shu was also very good. The chicken was tender and moist, and the veggies played very well with it. The "pancakes" actually reminded me of tortillas, but they were very good, and there were *5*of them. The order came with what I believe was a hoisin sauce on the side, and I put some of that in the moo shu, and some of that in the soup, and it just completely added to the flavor. I had enough for dinner, a snack later on, and breakfast in the morning. It was an amazing meal. The only reason I'm taking off half of a star, was because they didn't give me any silverware or napkins. I didn't think about looking when I got the meal, because I figured they would be there. Fortunately, I keep a set of travel silverware with me, and so I didn't have to go back to the restaurant to get the silverware. I don't know if they normally don't give the silverware or if they just forgot, but it was a very small glitch. Next time, I will double check. And yes, there will be a next time. Thanks!

We've only been here for breakfast, so I can't just the non-breakfast item. The restaurant is attached to a bar, that also has tables to eat in. I think this place a popular hang out for a drinking breakfast. Decor is 70's - 80's ish and not fancy. It is reasonably clean. It has one of the last salad bars on earth. Coffee was not fancy and felt like it came out of my mom's old percolator. The breakfast menu seems expensive. A few things to note - good luck on any kind of a healthy breakfast. You can't get egg white omelettes. They "don't do that". They also did not have juice? (Even though they are attached to a full bar?) The only substitutions for hash browns are pancakes or a biscuit and gravy. They don't do poached eggs, not even on the benedicts. Over a couple of visits, the other things noticed - bacon requested crispy comes out not nearly cooked enough and flaccid. The sausage felt a little raw in the middle. The hash browns looked homecut and home made, but were burnt on the edges, without being nice and crispy, and the potatoes were undercooked. which was disappointing. Eggs, though, were cooked perfectly, which were really good. The pancakes were the absolute star of the show, though. They were huge and very fluffy and the best pancakes I've seen anywhere, except maybe Du Pars in Los Angeles. What killed it is they give you the square plastic Sysco containers of syrup which are not very good. They give you beautiful fluffy butter, but no real maple syrup? Good syrup or at least syrup you could pour yourself would have upped their pancake game up considerably. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy tasted of flour, but was seasoned well. The biscuit was very tender. I couldn't eat but a bite. Looking at other tables, the omelettes did look good, I just hate cooked egg yolks. Over all, it was mid, but everyone was nice and there was plenty of food.
