Loved this feed store and cafe! Great people and food. I will definitely go back next time I'm in town.

If you love good coffee or don't have an extra hour to spend waiting around, I suggest you skip the coffee at this place. They were incredibly slow and made the orders out of order, so we had to wait even longer because they skipped part of our order and made someone else's right in the middle of ours. My husband observed that they messed up every order before and after ours. They were also very confused by the request to make it decaf and the best part is no public bathroom. Better variety local breads, and quality of sandwiches. I find this location is not equipped to deal with people with handicaps as the doors are very hard to open unless you have a person helping you. read more

Came in to try the mushroom ice cream, had to settle for mint chocolate chip. Was able to browse the isles and bought some pet items while enjoying my scoop. JD Redhouse was a neat stop while in Willits. read more

I'm sorry to have to write this review. This review is only for the sandwich. I ordered 2 sandwiches, a BLT and a turkey on dutch crunch bread. I specifically asked the employee if the bread was fresh( this was on a Sunday). She said " Yes, its from Shatt's). 1. That doesn't mean it was fresh. I asked again. Are you sure its fresh? She said Yes. Let me tell you, NO it was NOT fresh, it was anything but fresh. It was hard and stale. Why did the employee not tell me when she was making the sandwich, I would have gladly chosen another bread. The bread was SO bad, that I couldn't eat it. Waste of 7.50. read more

I realize that I am in the minority here, but I really hate going into this place and do so only when they have something specific I absolutely need. For that, they deserve to stars. For the snooty condescending and un friendly staff, three start deficit. Maybe hey younger hipster would be received differently when walking through the door, I have no idea. All I know is I just spent another hundred bucks in there at the cashier treated me like some kind of lowlife that just blew in from estonia. I had mentioned that another pair of boots on the rack was missed priced she gave me a look like I had just asked for unnatural act and was out to scam somebody. The Willowy Dude behind the counter throws the A lot of businesses in Willits are on the Rocks and with this place Inevitably crashesI will have no sympathy. Addendum! Just bought a pair of boots 40% off! From $180 to 127, with tax...Amazon has the same thing for 106! Mark things up to a ridiculous margin, big % off and people in Willits think they're getting a good deal! I know I'm the same catagory of sucker but I need them tomorrow and can't take the chance of a problem with the mail, with the virus messing up the world. read more

As it is pretty much the ONLY pet supply store in town, it limits your convenience. Especially if you have a service animal with special needs. And they are on the expensive side. It's a nice store inside and the people are friendly and helpful. I do like that it has a sandwich station. I've yet to try it but I will. Centrally located in town and a decent parking lot however I'd you weren't really looking for it, you'd miss it on Main Street. It looks like an old brick bank in the early 1900 from Chicago. It's great if your into bougie merch such as craft soaps (cut to order) and lotions, western water, ridiculously huge stuffed animals and educational toys and a high priced sammie. read more

I can not say enough good things about this place. We have become regulars here and with good reason. The staff are all the nicest people and really go out of their way to make your visit special. The prices are very reasonable in a town where prices can be high on not so great food and this food is absolutely great. Try the chicken salad, a revelation. Fabulous coffee drinks. Amazing ice cream and the thickest shakes. This is by far my favorite place in town for breakfast or lunch. And there is always something cute to buy too. read more

Worst service and worst, overpriced sandwiches I have ever had. The service at the deli counter made us feel like we were being burdensome and there was literally no one in the store except for the 3 of us. We were there on Sunday, June 7th and we will never be a patron of this store ever again. It appears that there is no management there or no one cares about customer service. So sad and disappointed. I have been driving through Willits for years and wanted to support the local economy especially since the Willits bypass but I can't see that this place will be able to stay in business with such bad customer service. And the fudge that they are supposedly known for was just ok. I really wanted to like this place but I cannot. I hope that the owners take this review to heart and turn it around. read more

Quality staff. Quality goods. If they don't have what you want, they are happy to order it for you. The dog food specialist is very experienced and can talk shop on all the foods and the Ins n outs to them all. Very informative. My dog has special needs. Just like home walking in. Everything my dog owns came from Redhouse. They have a huge selection of top-of-the-line dog foods at good prices (my mother has me buy her dog's food there as she can't find comparable prices in Lake Co.), treats and eco-conscious toys. They have a good range of riding clothes, and horsey-type stuff (hay, tack, etc) if you're into that, a huge variety of bird feeders and wild bird food, baby chicks in the Spring, locally made chocolates and ice cream, coffee, pies... the list goes on. The owners and employees are friendly and helpful, too. They've special-ordered in a few things in for me, and it's never been a problem. Redhouse is a dry goods store in the classic, old fashioned sense... I always leave feeling 'down home' and countrified. read more

Came in to get one thing and found my self in a wonder land of fun! We had a yummy deli sandwich & a delicious organic smoothy. The prices are so reasonable, I was excepting a hike in prices for the small towns, but none of that here. =) Enjoy their awesome selection of candy and home made fudge! After being loyal customers at this establishment for many years, I was very surprised and upset to arrive at J D Redhouse nearly 15 minutes before closing time on Sunday to be turned away and told that they would not load heavy for us because it was too close to closing time. I arrived at 3:48 PM and it is posted on the door that they are open until 4 PM. The young lady at the register radioed back to the people in the Haybarn to ask if they would still load, hay. At which point, they took several minutes to respond as they were closing the back door. My animals will go hungry tonight and my husband and I will never shop there again. read more

I really dig this store a lot. We visit frequently to buy dog and guinea pig food and supplies. The building and exterior is kinda fancy, never would have guessed it'd be the place. The reason we really discovered it was because we were referred here by our local friends when we moved here and asked about where to buy pet food and supplies. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality selection of both dog and guinea pig food and supplies at decent prices. We also enjoy looking around while we're in there. We got some technu there that helped, another time a super bright flashlight that plugs into the cigarette lighter in a car, and also a tick key, which helps to remove ticks from dogs (or yourself). Good stuff to have. They have lots of clothes, boots, Carhartt stuff, and also a cafe where you can get food and coffee and something about homemade fudge but I haven't tried it yet... During the recent Mendocino fires we received a mandatory evacuation notice. With over 200 animals, which we couldn't leave behind, it was a monumental task to get them all to safety. I walked into JD's in tears over the situation. Everyone there got involved helping me pull together all the supplies I needed in record breaking time. They piled everything into my pickup and tied it all down for me. Even let me charge, although web and phone were down. Love these people. We've shopped there for decades, love the store. It's got the best of everything. The owners and employees rock and always have. Ten stars is not enough to describe the excellence in merchandise, customer service and value. Thank you JD Redhouse. What they may lack in a couple espresso drinks (my frap tasted too powdery) they make up for in awesome customer service and animal supplies. I have always been greeted kindly and always have a great time here. I will have to try some more of their espresso drinks some time to have a better review on their those, but great place for pet supplies read more

Honest reliable community minded folks who serve Willits well. I buy from them when they have sales. They also carry organic feed & hay etc... as well as make organic smoothies! Only reason for 4 stars is price, so like I said watch for the sales! read more

The one stop shop for almost anything. Willits is so fortunate to have a beautiful place like this right in the center of town. When my dog needs anything they have it. Shop here several times per week. The only real complaint...no delivery yet. High end pet products, livestock supplies, etc. Fashioned after an old time country store clothing and even a soda fountain to boot!!! They've got it all! From pet supplies, to toys, to clothing, to food, and even ice cream! Not to mention free wifi! I come in for my computer days in Willits and sit in the cafe area. Pretty affordable, as well as super tasty! They always are switching up Ice cream flavors, the mushroom flavored ice cream is awesome...but my favorite for a milkshake is the chai flavor! Not a bad place. My only real problem would be the inflated prices. It seems like I can just pick an item randomly and take the highest price ive ever seen asked for it, add 15% or 20%, and that's what your gonna pay at JD Redhouse. The have a great pet supply section, id say about 25% of the store, and its a big store. The have a big clothing section as well, but i being very frugal, wouldn't buy my clothes there due to the price's being so high. Maybe if i needed a pair of socks right away for some weird reason. Or some Other kind of emergency and there was no other option available. I only give 5 stars for places that go above and beyond, so its not a negative review when i give 3 stars, but i gotta dock em' simply because ive never seen anywhere more expensive. On a more positive note, the fudge is fantastic. They always have a great selection as well and its always different. Its expensive as well but they will allow for you to mix up the pound, so you could get half this and half that or even 25% something else, or whatever. They offer free samples but honestly, you cant go wrong any flavor. They usually will throw a few flavors out for the season or for what ever the holiday is that month, as well as a few that are new or off the wall, as well as the old stand-bys and classics. All are fantastic. What i do is get what ever sounds good, but get a sample anyway of something i normaly wouldn't get or that ive never heard of, and those are always great as well. The place is always very clean and the people always are friendly and helpful. They have a wide veriety of arts and crafts supplies, but they are pricey as well. Probly not gonna have that 1 weird item that broke on you and you need to replace, but its a great place you can get ideas to put together projects for the kids that your unexpectadly watching over the weekend, and again, your gonna pay for it. A great place to get that gift you forgot to get and need right now. Such a variety that id say, something for everybody, and for me its the fudge. Your gonna pay for that too, but its so delicious that you wont care. read more
