UNLESS, YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF - DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! Heard after change in ownership this place hasn't been the same. Extremely long story. Basically, first mechanic (which Ive gone to a few times that are very honest and fair), did a diagnostic on my BMW that wouldn't turn over/ engine start. He said it could be the starter, however the diagnostics shows car is in 6th gear and cannot get it into park. So then he recommended me to Precision Transmission. They also couldn't figure it out, and believed it was not a transmission issue as 6th gear is a default gear for BMW's (as stated). So they referred me to Lonnie's. Three tows later I bring it to Lonnie's on a Thursday morning, spoke to Chris, very friendly man; had a brief conversation explaining that Sarah from Precision spoke to his boss/ owner Casey regarding my Car. They claim to have all the same software and machines that BMW has... Friday around 4pm still no call. I then called the shop before 5pm friday and a gentleman named Fred answered. He gets my info and also asks what happened, as i explained a second time- he says he would get me a quote by Monday and the diagnostic fee is $160 and proceeded to tell me he has "coupons" to maybe help with that fee. Mind you the other two places i took diagnostic fees are no where above $120, and they did not charge me because they couldn't pin point the exact problem, meaning if they suggested to change the starter there is a chance it wouldn't fix the issue. Monday - I get a quote for almost $1,200 stating the starter needed to be replaced, and after they can do a full inspection following because due to the car not starting, they were unable to put in the garage for full inspection. However, they are still charging me $160 when admitting a full inspection has yet to be performed. I did not feel comfortable moving forward with Lonnies as the first shop (which i trust and did not charge me a diagnostic fee) had the same findings- Lonnie's wasn't telling me anything different i already heard, and they didn't in fact pinpoint what the issue is. Decided to take it back to the first mechanic as they know my car and are fair with pricing. BTW- what Lonnie's quoted is double of what the other shop quoted. Keep in mind the first shop specializes in BMW's the mechanic was a BMW dealership mechanic for years. They didnt want to release my car unless i pay the diagnostic fee. I called the police to meet me there to maybe help resolve the issue and miraculously when they see the officer arrive they decided to release my car free of charge. If it was a justifiable amount, why wouldn't they explain the charges to the officer and hold me accountable to pay? Total Crooks! More so- now the starter has been changed, my car is mysteriously running very very ROUGH! My car has NEVER ran rough... hmm??? Payback for not paying the BS diagnostic fee ? I have every reason to think they tampered with my car after the visit from the police. The Better Business Bureau will be hearing about this. Finding honest and reliable mechanics is extremely hard to find. read more

They came highly recommended I set an appointment but then changed it A woman at the desk wrote it down When I showed up they were surprised They were charging $180 to look at the car The manager went out and started the car I thought it was in limp mode He came in ranting and raving about how crappy the car was running and all the work it was going to need I made the mistake and gave him some information about it smoking They said they are going to hook it up and see what the codes said About an hour Five hours later I showed up They weren't ready They finally sent a report It said there were no codes I know there are at least two codes that have been there sense I got the car They took pictures of everything from suspension to brakes They said it was a head gasket but did nothing to test for it No compression test Said there was fluid in the oil There wasn't any I checked right before I left Then the bill came almost$6000 for the head gasket and brakes They didn't even address the suspension problems or the oil leak The picture of the brakes was of the disk which tells you nothing They said the brakes were almost done I have records that the complete brake job was done 6000 miles ago He commented that it must have really been run hard I payed $160 because he felt bad Wow what a racket! read more

This guy Lonnie will tell you anything if you're a woman and don't know prices or anything about a car, this guy put my car on the reader and the only thing he can tell me is that I need a tune up this is the place in Jackson MS right off Northside Dr. That's why they are still in that little as shop. Oh yeah don't trust the old guy at the AutoZone place on Northside drive because he told me to go to this guy shop and his words was ( I would not send you to anyone I don't trust) then he said he is a godly man. My mother took her 2003BMW to Lonnie's for years with great service and great results. After change of ownership, the service has gone drastically down hill and she's had to seek out a different shop. Multiple occasions she had attempted to give them chances but with literally no results. Initially, she had an issue with the sunroof leaking or AC backflow that was creating precipitation on the floor of the back right passengers seat. So much so she had to place towels there at times when it would occur. They said it may require some diagnostics because they weren't quite sure where the water was coming from which is 100 percent understand. What i didn't understand was that after multiple attempts to "fix it" they did not once say that they weren't able to fix and to take it to a specialist. They each time stated, three times in total (excluding the very first visit) , that they fixed it and everything was fine. The last time she picked up the car for this issue, they left 3 tools on the floorboard of her car and it still was not fixed. Then she has a small oil leak and they stated it was going to be about a 2,000 dollar repair. She got that "fixed" after about 3 days in service and took it back home only to notice an oil leak the next morning. When she took it back, they stated it was a new problem and gave her a new quote of over $1,000. Eventually they were ok with "taking care of it" because she was just there. That was after reiterating that the car was just there for days for the same issue (because I'm sure this oil leak was there when they were "fixing" the other one. Or it was the same one that they just didn't fix). A few days later after reciting her car back from Lonnie's, she had her oil changed and they noticed a leak. She's now going to a different mechanic. I am beyond disappointed at their treatment of a loyal customer and just a customer in general. She doesn't use yelp or else I would have had her write the review herself but I think this is important to know when looking for a mechanic for you or your loved ones so I hope this helps someone not be deceived. Lonnie's was wonderful before. Transparent, fair pricing, and obviously skilled. Currently, it is anything but that. read more

But want to give full credit for the repair they did to my "Fiberglas bumper" when I dragged it across the top of the concrete form in place to prevent further advance in a parking lot.. Lonnie's Auto Repair 9-17-24 Our vehicle needed service. The vehicle was difficult to start and was rough idling. We called Lonnie's, spoke to Kimberly and made an appointment. AAA towed our 2008 BMW X5 to the shop On 9-16-24. We asked that they just get the error code and give us a quote to get it running again. As expected, they went on a revenue hunt, very thorough. We received a quote for thousands of dollars to bring the car up to date. Several of the items were already addressed at our former repair shop. The quote included. $170 to check the error code and look over the car. We approved. We were told it was a vacuum leak. We then approved a cost of $707 to replace two crank case hoses. We approved. We declined the following. $2,056 Replace the oil pan gasket. $1,132 Replace the drive belt, drive belt idler, drive belt pulley. $981 Replace the four tires. $170 Wheel alignment. $491 Replace the rear stabilizer bar link. $193 Brake fluid exchange. $149 Clean AC evaporator. $233 Cooling system service. $120 Replace cabin filter. There was an additional quote to take the steering column apart and see why it difficult to turn. I cannot find the quote. It was for labor with additional cost for parts. Total: $6,402 We came back on 9-17-24. Paid for the inspection and new crank case hoses. My wife got in the car and followed me the 6 miles to our home. She said the car was rough idling and tried to die numerous times. We had difficulty keeping it running to park it in the yard. We called Lonnie's. A man who worked at the front desk with Kimberly answered. We informed him of the situation. We said we paid to have the problem fixed and we had the same problem. He replied with a well rehearsed line, "your car has a lot of problems" he was not concerned. He just went on the defensive. This is the second reason they do an extensive write up. It's to cover their butts. The customer is the problem. They, the shop did everything right. I asked to speak with Kimberly. Kimberly got on the phone I explained what happened and she replied with the same well rehearsed song. Oh my gosh! What happened to the nicey, nicey, customer service smile and greeting when they want your business. I told her that if they did a test drive, they would have seen that the car had the same problem. She replied with another well rehearsed line, "your car has a lot of problems, (sounds familiar) it's unsafe to drive". I'm not letting one of our technicians put themselves in danger driving your car. That's it. No reply like, oh my, bring it back and we'll take another look at it. Note: I asked twice during the two days for the error code. Also, I was never shown the old hoses that were removed from the car. The repairs were not the real issue. If the hoses were replaced and did not resolve the problem, we would have approved another diagnostic and approve what was needed to get the car running. Instead, they took the route of turning on us and getting very defensive. We were dumped by Lonnie's Auto Repair! Paid $885 without getting to the real problem. They put up their smoke screen and missed getting more revenue. Lewis read more

I had a similar situation as someone else that reviewed. My computer module for my airbags had gone bad (from a spill on a my center console.) I was told they would need to remove my whole center console which would take around 3 hours of labor. I was also charged $100 for them to plug a computer in & tell me this. This was false. I ended up doing it myself & was able to get the computer removed & replaced in under 30 minutes... The only thing I had to remove was the driver side seat & a panel on the center console & boom there was the computer, unplug & replug the new one in. I understand they are in this to try to make money, but this in the end is just going to hurt them. Maybe if I was quoted more accurately then I would have been satisfied, but this was just way off. This causes you to miss out on referrals & will not work out in the long run. read more

STAY AWAY from Lonnie's in Ormond Beach! This place used to be reasonable under Lonnie himself, it has become a cesspool of incompetence, lies, and disrespect for the customer since Lonnie sold the business. The story is long, but I will focus on the last few events. The car is a 2005 Audi S4. I took the car to Lonnie's in November following an act of vandalism which required replacing the fuel pump, some of the valves, spark plugs, and other equipment. The car was returned to me after having been "fixed", but, at the first refueling, it developed a strong smell of gasoline. Took it back to Lonnie's, and was informed that the gas tank had developed a leak and needed to be replaced. I authorized the repairs, but they were unable to find a replacement tank in the States and had to order one from Germany, for which I had to pay in advance, and which took a long time (I now think that that is a lie.) Finally they got the tank, installed it, and notified me that repairs were complete and I could pick it up (Jan. 16). I went to get the car, but, as I tried to drive it away, it was misfiring so badly that I could not even get out of their lot (Jan. 19). Furthermore, the smell of gasoline was still there!. This was after the liars in the front office practically swore on a stack of bibles the the car had been extensively test-driven and it drove flawlessly. I left the car for them to fix, and requested that they call me as soon as they had figured out the problem. But they never called (this was a general pattern) and, until February 6, they lied and delayed repeatedly, generally blaming the mechanic who was working on the car (for three days he was sick, then for a week he had to travel out of town to attend to a sick relative, etc. etc.) And, for some reason, no other mechanic could work on that car. Finally, on Feb 7, they called to say the car was fixed and ready to be picked up. I did, and this time I was able to drive it home. but the smell of gasoline was still there. And when I went to drive it the next day, the car would not start, and it was now leaking oil, which it had never done before. And they assume no responsibility for the leak, claiming that I must have taken the car elsewhere and that the other shop must be responsible. But I have receipts to show unequivocally that the car was serviced by them. So the car was towed again to Lonnie's. I picked it up again, and this time the car ran decently, but the gasoline smell was still there, albeit less strong (the cretins had tried to cover it up with a scent spray, which, combined with the gasoline smell, made it even worse.) And now, this morning (Feb. 19), I find that the radio no longer works, and that the alarm system behaves erratically, going off unexpectedly. I will at this point take them to court. In addition to the bare-faced lies, be ready, if you are foolish enough to go there, to put up with disrespect and neglect for the car itself. They gave it back to me filthy from having sat under a tree for weeks, with the contents of the glove box dumped on the floor, with work rags strewn around the engine compartment (a fire hazard!), and with an I-don't-care attitude that makes you want to slap their faces. They seem to be deliberately driving the business to the ground. Ignore this review at your own peril, you have been warned. read more

I was lied to by their new service advisor. He described the procedure for repairing my car that involved, according to him, disassembling part of the dashboard. This was not true. The ECM module which they replaced, which had been very recently changed is under the hood in a very accessible box. I was charged 2 hours labor to do what takes 2 minutes. I was also charged 2 hours for diagnosis of the problem, which would have been found by reading the error code. I was way overcharged for a very simple repair to a very common well known problem with this vehicle. The fact is they lied to justify making 4 hours labor for 30 minutes work. read more
