First time at LongHorn Steakhouse and it was great. Was a little surprised considering some of the reviews I had read. Michele, our server, was helpful, personable, and a real pro. Spicy chicken bites appetizer was really good as well as the salmon and sirloin steak. We were there about 5:15 on a Thursday and no wait. Rustic steakhouse decor and ambiance. Went on July 3rd at 3:15 pm. They had the front door open, so the air conditioning would not shut off. I was told there would be a 25 minute wait. There were several tables not in use. People came in, then left. The problem was that the restaurant did not have enough servers there at this time. When my party of two was finally seated, the frigid air was too much. Thank God, I had a hoodie on. I have complained in the past, but the workers obviously like it cold. The food was fine and the service was adequate, but gulping down my food so I can go outside to warm up is ridiculous. I will spend my money at an establishment that caters to the patrons. read more

Everything went very well. I was there at lunchtime and people started to roll in more after I arrived but several tables already full, I ordered the cheeseburger lunch special. It was very good, altho I asked if I ordered medium how much pink would be left. He did say that very little would be left maybe a band of pink with the chef there today, which I thought was honest but forgot to order on the tater side of medium. It came out very well done, but because it took a while and I did not want to wait for a redo, I went with it as is, and because the flavor was ok, if a little on the dry side. I was offered a new one though.so server was very good. The potato was good. Took it and the bread home for later. The other thing I'm not giving a 5 for was one of the waitresses was coughing, at least 3-4 times while I was there, and not really covering her mouth. Even if you are not standing over or near anyone, cover your mouth or better yet, if you are sick stay home. Kinda grossed me out, which is why I sat at the high tops and not at the tables she was serving.. but anyway, I would still recommend, (minus sick wait staff) and would go back, remembering to order 2 levels rarer than you really want something, so it can always be cooked more, not less. read more

The restaurant does not have a dedicated GF menu. I had to look at the allergen printout. I was able to pretty much eat the same food that I normally did minus dessert. The kitchen did catch the corn spices may have gluten and opted not to put them on the corn. The service was also pretty good. read more

Why anyone waits to eat here is beyond me. People wait patiently to get in - we saw a huge line when we left. My partner and I shared a few appetizers. The food was so over salted - from the Parmesan fries to the chicken wings to the French Onion soup. Granted, French Onion soup is typically sodium laden but this soup was other worldly - pretty much inedible. The ambiance is fine - nothing special but the restaurant is clean. Waitress was pleasant and did her job well. Went to Longhorn on a Saturday evening, wait wasn't to long maybe 20 minutes. We were seated and you could tell the staff was hustling with the crowd. Ordered our food and I ordered the 12oz. Ribeye, side of mushrooms and a salad. Food came and to my amazement you can tell the quality has gone way down!! Steak had about 3oz. of grizzly fat on it and I counted 9 mushrooms!!!! I've ate here many times before and this really surprised me. The waiter told me , that's a side of veggies and the steak , well it's a ribeye!!! The food and service once you get seated is great. The portions are large and the food is delicious. Other than some of our Texas tonion appetizer having uncooked breading - which we just avoided, the rest of the food and drinks were good. If you plan to come on a Friday evening be ready for a long wait. Although we were next in line for some time my husband I noticed that 4 tables got seated before us even though my husband asked the front staff a few times. And even though the front said we had the next table and then another group of 2 was next - it was frustrating that they seated the group of 2 before us. So we ended up waiting about 50 minutes for our table when we got in line at 7am. Be prepared to advocate for yourself even though you're placed in a virtual line. Kinda like sweet Thai chili but more of a kick. If you're not into spicy then I would recommend the wild west. It's breaded shrimp and squeeze a lemon on top, perfection. Not like your typical fast food popcorn shrimp! Hard fried breading and tiny skinny shrimp. The outlaw ribeye is great, I would order that again. Cooked to my liking. My mom had the salmon. I can't exactly remember the name of it but that was also amazing. I would order the salmon next time because I enjoyed the rice that went with it. This is a great place to take the family out. We had our own little section where our big family and kids wouldn't disturb the smaller groups. Almost felt like a private room without the closed doors. Everyone was able to find something. Server was great, unfortunately when getting our food the food runner spilled all of our food onto the table knocking over all of our drinks onto my lap. A Heineken 0.0 a Diet Coke and a strawberry lemonade. All over me soaked into my pockets and down to my underwear. She just stood there in shock. Never apologizes for the mistake. Manager Mike comes over and asks if everything is ok. I said obviously not Mike I am completely soaked and now it's running into my socks. He bring us the check for FULL PRICE and we haven't even got our food yet. And he tried charging us for the drinks that just spilled all over me. I ask him so I have to pay for that because I'm wearing it? He doesn't even say sorry he just says OK what do you want me to do about it??? I Don't Know Mike what do you think you should do about it aren't you the manager????? We should pay for that? We ask for the food to be boxed up to-go so that I can go home and change and dry myself off. Mike still expecting us to pay full price for this. He finally agrees to take the spilled drinks off after talking to him about it for 10 minutes. Drinks that spilled all over me by his staff... offers 25% off the bill lol. Again I am completely soaked and embarrassed by there staff. At this point we are starving so we were just ready to leave. Could not argue with this Manager Mike any more, he had absolutely no remorse for any of this. I would say this location is normally great but would avoid it at all costs if this manager Mike is working. He should be fired immediately. Even his staff told us to complain about him since there is nothing they can do. Our server felt terrible and tried to help us as much as he could but his manager Mike wouldn't let him. This is what I wrote to the company: Just wanted to mention my Yelp review of the steakhouse in Algonquin Illinois. My husband ordered a ribeye. I ordered a sirloin with shrimp. Mine was fantastic. The steak was perfect, the flavoring was great, The shrimp was phenomenal, baked potato, asparagus & salad too. But my husband received a steak and asked the young lady delivering it is this a ribeye? She said yes, the waitress came over and he said is this a ribeye and she said yes. We were tired, hungry and needed to get home. We figured if we called for the manager we knew they were the people that train these young ladies to say yes it is a superior stake worth the money instead of being sincere and saying, sorry you're right that it's not a ribeye that's an inferior cut. My husband and I have lived in the Midwest our whole life, we have cooked steak since we were in our teens and we are now in our middle 60s, we know exactly what a ribeye looks like and taste like. I feel the insincerity and the need for Longhorn to deceive people and serve them inferior cuts of steak is just outrageous. I would love to return, but now my husband refuses. This was a Christmas gift card received from our only son for him and it's a shame. read more

Went for late lunch. Server Angie was very friendly & worked to make sure we had everything we needed. When our food came out, my fries were cold. Husband's steak was cool & overcooked. Butter wasn't melting in his potato as it wasn't hot either. Asked Angie for fresh fries & told her about husband's food. She brought fries again & again... they were ok but not hot. Husband got a new steak & potato. Steak was way better, but again... potato wasn't melting the butter or brown sugar. We didn't complain again. So, to say the least... a pretty disappointing meal. Clean restaurant! Nice ambiance and plenty of seating. We enjoyed our meal. The meal began with bread. It was a hot and fresh wheat loaf with butter. It was plenty for two, veggie than an Outback loaf, but it was not as soft, definitely more crunchy exterior. I ordered the spicy chicken off the appetizer menu. It was plenty of food for a meal. I also added a Caesar salad to my son's lunch entree for $1.49. The Caesar was average, I would try the side salad next time. My son ordered the strip steak, medium rare. He loved it! He said it was the best steak he'd had in quite awhile. It was cooked perfectly medium rare, very tender. He choose fries as the side. Many were soaked in the steak juice/butter, those were tasty. The fries overall were very good. We definitely enjoyed the food! There was one problem...there was a foul smell in the bar and in the bathroom. There is definitely a plumbing issue here. It was a sour metallic smell, so much so that I'm not sure we could have eaten in the bar. It would have been nice to watch TVs at lunch, but the smell was too overwhelming. I have been going to LONGHORN for a long time. Lately the LONGHORN in Algonquin,IL has been getting worse. Three of us went for lunch. We were greeted by Nathan and brought to our table. Our waitess SARA came to our table and took our drink order. When she came back to take our food order she seemed to be in a rush. It was 2:00pm and 90% of the restaurant was empty! She brought us our food an vanished. She never came back to ask if we needed more bread or how are food was. Finally she came over with the bill. Still appeared to be rushed. Food was very good but waitress was very poor. Also NATHAN was walking about the restaurant and never smiled at ANYONE. They made you feel unwelcome! Checked in at arrival to be told that was incorrect and that it'd be a 30-45min wait. Waited no less than an hour to be sat. Was more than patient being aware of the traffic for the day. Immediately ordered when sat just to wait over an hour and a half to receive cold food which included an overcooked pricy steak. To go orders were prioritized it seemed. Not the only table with said issues. Made a complaint to the waitress, who was at no fault surely. A manager then came over and seemed irritated by our complaints to then rudely ask us what we wanted her to do about it. Offered zero resolution. First; the wait was long. For a place with meh food we waited an hour and 25 minutes after confirming 45 minutes was our longest time. We had the spinach and artichoke dip which was good. Reviewing chain restaurants feels kind weird but sometimes its important. We were happy to see Longhorn open up in our neck of the woods. Upon entering, you get that "everythings bigger in Texas" feeling. Big ol doors, steer horns, buck heads, cowboy hats and chaps and what not throughout in a slightly dim dining atmosphere...I like it! Simple but rustic Texas steakhouse fare and a simple menu which is a good thing. The warm bread loaves are hard to resist. The salads are a meal in themselves, they're awesome. The french onion soup was perfect. The star, of course is the beef. Likely not prime, probably angus. Whatever, they're tender, juicy, fatty hunks of satisfaction, taming the most primal carnivorous cravings. You're rolling dice when ordering lobster outside of any place that doesn't showcase fresh seafood. We rolled and the lobster was very rubbery. I couldnt tell if they were over or undercooked but it didn't taste right. The cheesecake was marvelous btw. Our server Waylon was very courteous and has a talent for making guests feel at ease. Longhorn in no way felt "cookie cutter". Its a great place for high quality, generous servings of steak for far less than the higher end places. I'll be back to try lunch items soon. read more

So the good, they have the best chicken wings I've ever eaten. The lobster tail was great. Our waitress was quick to refill drinks. The food runner was a little rude but whatever. The bad, my steak. I got the bone in rib eye med rare. It came out super rare and it was so tough. I could deal with rare but I had a very hard time cutting it and then chewing it and it was very underseasoned. It just didn't taste good and the quality was subpar. My crispy Brussels weren't cooked well either. They were very charred but then raw at the same time. And they weren't cut well. Very poor service. Was told it was a 25 minute wait when I arrived. After 45 , I followed up and was told 15-20 minutes. Staff was rude and standing around. Tables were available but not cleared. Ended up taking an hour. With little ones we wouldn't have stayed had we known the true waiting time. We got a table right by the hostess, so unhappy, waiting people were waiting three feet from us. We expressed our dissatisfaction to our server when she finally came and took our orders. She just said, "I'll put your food orders right in. That's the best I can do." No apology or offer to discuss the menu. She did, to her credit, expedite the soup/salad. The entrees arrived slow, she blamed the kitchen "being slammed". While waiting for our food we saw one server bring a tray to another server, point and say, "This goes to the old lady and old guy." They weren't referring to us, but still it was a rude thing for customers to overhear. The food was actually not bad. My steak was okay, about standard for a chain. The Brussels sprouts were fantastic. The rest of my party called their food 'fine'. The service probably colored their opinion. Won't return. read more

The a week later later I took my wife and told here to make sure she saves lite on the seasonings since she is not into high seasoning when I cook on the grill ..
