Stopped here for a late night dinner. It was around 8pm and there was no wait. They do have a dedicated GF menu. There are quite a lot of options for entrees and sides to choose from. I even love how it indicates their soft drinks, spirits and distilled drinks were GF. The server noticed I had the GF menu and asked if the table still wanted the bread and butter. I am a vegetarian so I ordered a house salad with tangy tomato dressing to start and a baked potato (no bacon) and asparagus as my entree. All my food came out separately from the rest of the table. They even announced GF when they delivered the food. I appreciated all the protocols that were in place. They even had a GF brownie for dessert. The last time we went to an Outback, we were super disappointed with our meal; we had not been to an Outback in several years but we had a gift certificate so we decided to give it another shot. We went for an early dinner on a Saturday night. We hardly had to wait for our table, maybe 4 minutes before we were seated. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive without being too attentive. Both teenagers ordered a steak, the hubby ordered a steak sandwich that was on the "special" menu and I ordered a bowl of chili. Unfortunately, after several bites of each others meals, we came to the conclusion that the best thing on the table was my chili (which is saying a lot because one of the kids doesn't like chili). Service from BECCA was amazing. Plain and simple there, Blooming Onion was delicious as always. The steaks. Oh boy the steaks. 1 (medium rare) and 1 (medium), both being the shrimp and steak combo, 6 and 8 oz. The Medium was the perfect medium rare. The Medium rare, literal gum, blue rare minimum. Zero seasoning. Shrimp was pretty good with the sauce. Pretty sure the ranch is made with mayo, it's very heavy. They did try to make it right by making a new one( had asked for the check but just wanted to show BECCA a side by side of the steaks) she agreed it looked more "rare" but it was raw, nonetheless would've rather had the steak discounted cause only 4 shrimp for main dinner at 30 something wasn't right. read more

This Crystal Lake Lovation should just close ! Twice I have went here with friends on a Monday Night,to have wings and potato soup. Both times we visited they were out of wings! WTF But the server didn't know this, returned to the table the first time,and told us they had no wings. That's Bullshit ! We ordered the potato soup,and it was garbage as well ! My bowl had 3-4 potato chunks on it and the soup itself was watery. Decided at that point, we wouldn't be returning as the overall experience was just bad! 3 weeks later ,the urge for wings and soup hit again, and an out of town friend was visiting, and had the same taste for that combo. Guess what,when we asked if they had wings,the server said " I will have to check", came back to the table, and said " No,Looks like we are out of the wings". I said ,that's twice in 30 days. The server quickly asked if we wanted to speak to a manager,I responded YES. We then waited 5 mins and no manager came to the table. We then got up and left the restaurant. We decided to go across the street to Texas Roadhouse, and enjoyed a delicious dinner. Although we didn't get what we originally wanted,when the manager checked in at the table we explained how we wound up at his establishment. He quickly made the Texas Roadhouse visit even better by comping the table 2-Appetizer's I thought this guy knows what he is doing. While Outback,just continues to fall on there face, with lousy food,and items being marketed but they are out of. Something wrong with the management team at the Crystal lake location. I don't see it changing anytime soon. Skip the Outback in Crystal Lake, and visit the Texas Roadhouse across the street, you can thank me later ! We had a group of 16 celebrating my son and his wife's 40th birthday. We had a 6:45 reservation but we got seated at 7:15. The waiter took our drinks order and that was ok, but the food took 30 minutes to come out and my daughter in law's salad that came out last was wrong, and everyone was already eating. The refills were taking forever to be filled. My wife's steak was a hockey puck even thou she said medium well. My mother in-law's soup and salad came out 30 minutes after the order and she was ready to walk out. By the time we left, it was 9:15pm!!!!! This was a total disaster, so NO MORE OUTBACK FOR US. This is the best Outback location close to me. They pay attention to detail. I got plenty of refills of my ice tea. We ordered a side Aussie Cheese Fries to start rather than wasting a huge appetizer plate of them. My French Onion Soup was good. Both sirloins were well cooked. I found the seasoning of the Alice Springs Chicken was not to my taste. No big deal though. Best of all we can count on them getting the steaks cooked properly. I have been going to 'Outback Steakhouse' as a loyal customer for decades. Of course I've been going here, because I love chewing into a good juicy ribeye steak, I love (& love again) to eat at restaurants inspired by travel experiences (the original owners visit Australia and were so impressed by the food that they brought it to America, including the iconic 'Blooming Onion') , and I love, love, love good deals & discounts like the ones I can get at every great Happy Hour. And all of the Outback Steakhouse restaurants that I have ever been to anywhere in the United States has a REALLY GREAT Happy Hour, usually from 3 to 6. We visited this specific Outback for the first time here in Crystal Lake just two weeks ago. At first we thought the place was closed, because the lot had only a few cars parked there, which had to belong to staff prepping for that evening's dinner. And when we entered the restaurant it was confirmed: no one but the bloated staff was here. And all that I could think, as a former owner of businesses myself, was, why would any manager call in a dozen staff members during a time when NOT A SINGLE CUSTOMER was anywhere to be seen. Especially during a failed Happy Hour, when the money should be pouring in. Then I found out why. The 'Outback Steakhouse' in Crystal Lake doesn't have a Happy Hour. They are open for dinner and that's it. Don't they realize that the Happy Hour brings a ton of people in that wouldn't otherwise eat there. These people buy lots of cheap drinks, and maybe an appetizer or two, and then when Happy Hour is over they stay for dinner. Is the 'Outback Steakhouse' in Crystal Lake management INSANE. Yikes this place got bad. Only thing that was decent was our waitress that did pretty good. Food on the other hand was not good. Quality is lacking big time. My son's chicken fingers had a huge hair in it. My chicken was over cooked and the baked potato was not good. It tasted like a hard boiled egg. Steak was just ok and my wife (who never asks for A-1) had to get A-1. The icing on top of the cake was nobody bussed our table the entire time leaving no room to eat. Good day Mate, it might be a good day for you but it was not for the Schaumburg Outback restaurant recently opened in Schaumburg. Understanding that it was newly opened I chose to dine there in mid afternoon to avoid any lunch time crush. I needn't have bothered--many open seats. BUT only one overworked and under motivated server(OWUMS) trying to provide service to about 6 tables. I ordered sweet tea and the 3 way special--burger, soup and salad. The tea arrived shortly after ordering but the remaining portions were delayed. After about 10-12 minutes the soup and salad arrived. Apparently the soup was the cause of delay in that the kitchen wanted to give it adequate time to cool down. The soup was at best tepid and the salad was predominantly ice berg. About 3 minutes later, the burger arrived. Shortly thereafter the server stopped "how is your meal?" "Well, the soup is cold". She said, "do you want a take home container for the soup?" (Apparently she correctly forecasted that my home microwave was better than her kitchen)and since the burger was hot, I chose the burger. The meat in the burger was mediocre at best. Apparently the game plan here is to cover the tasteless burger with enough "add ons" to conceal its' shortcomings, there was so much "sauce" that the bottom bun quickly disintegrated into a paste like substance necessitating a knife and fork attack.(almost a spoon) I was seated two tables away from the kitchen which meant the server had to travel past my table multiple times. Do not confuse that with good service. My tea glass sat empty for at least 8 passes by the OWUMS with not one question about refills. (Fortunately, I had a partially consumed Pepsi can in my car to quench my thirst after departure. I think the game plan here is rather than hire more and competent servers, just reduce the dining experience and customer count to the level of server staffing. GENIUS! read more

Signed up for "GET ON THE LIST" through the app. Don't bother. We get there and had to wait. NEVER called to be seated after 15 minutes! So a table comes open in bar area. We proceed to that table, rude high school hostess comes over and says-"weren't you on the LIST?" Yes-then she just walks away...whatever. Then we sat for 2, 5, 10 minutes as servers, bartenders, and hostesses just whiz past us. Ticked off at this point we get up, and LEAVE. My daughter wanted a Steak and it was late. Steak arived via DoorDash and her side was missing. Additionally some tore a section of the pumpernickle bread off and ate it or tossed it aside. I called the store spoke to a manager and she said that she was sorry and that it was probably the Door Dasher. I explained that the bag was still sealed - stapled shut and she had no response. The food was absolutely delicious, except for the fact that our server was genuinely gave the worst service I've ever received. Now i understand when people are busy especially on a holiday like today(valentines day) but this lady checked on us one time, and it was to give us drinks and bread, for a whole hour after she did not check on us once, we didn't get our food after more then an hour and witnessed people who came in 40 minutes after us get there meals and FINISH EATING before we got our food. We then had to flag her down multiple times to even get refills and such. Her name was Nicky or Vicky (unsure as we spoke with her 3 times in 2 hours) but yea never coming again if i see her as a server. I came to this location for a yelp event and the service was fantastic. The waitresses were extremely attentive which I appreciate. Most of them have been working for Outback for up to fourteen years! Outback has some great new menu items, I highly recommend the Three Cheese Steak Dip for your appetizer! It's so good you might want one just for yourself. If you are in to martini's try the Gingerbread Cookie Martini, it was so cute and festive for the holiday with a floating gingerbread man, you could even order this for your dessert. I have considered Outback Steak House to be one of my favorite restaurants but no more. This review is solely based on my experience with the crystal Lake location. I visited this location twice in the last 20 days and both times I had be extremely disappointed. I placed a "to go" order on a early Saturday evening, a 11oz sirloin, medium well and stressed to the order taker to cook it closer to well and not bloody. I picked up my meal and returned home. The bread, salad and baked potato were perfect but the steak was medium rare and bloody to the touch. I know this is how a steak should be served but not what I ordered or wanted. Driving back up to the restaurant was not a option so the steak was part of my two Yorkers meals for the next few days. Needless to say they loved it! I called the restaurant to let them know about my experience and the manager said she would send out a gift card and apologized. Things happen and it was no be deal just a little bit of a let down and life goes on. About 10 days later I received my $20 gift card and decided to go as a dine in customer bringing my mother as my guest. We placed our order with the waiter with me ordering a 8oz sirloin thinking that not being a thicker cut would cook better. I emphasized with my server to cook the steak medium well plus, closer to well done. The steak arrived medium rare and had to be sent back. Both my waiter and another restaurant server agreed that steak was not cooked as ordered. My mothers meal was fine and she enjoyed and finished her meal as I watched. Five minutes turned to ten as no steak returned. I had to approach the hostess and ask for the manager. I was told they were busy because of the specials they had on the menu today. My steak was no where to be found! The manager asked if there was anything she could do and I expressed the fact that my mother and I came together to have dinner not dining in shifts were one can watch the other eat. ****EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED **** I told the manager I've been waiting for my steak to return for 15 minutes now and no longer cared. She comped my mothers meal and I left hungry. I will no longer patronize the Crystal Lake Outback. Having more bad meals than good and being given excuses by the staff are unacceptable.
