While I did qualify for their lovely first-visit-free promo this time around, even if I hadn't the price for both of those would have STILL been cheaper than what I usually pay for just his bath. Overall, prices are extremely reasonable and competitive with other animal care facilities in the greater Austin area, but honestly I've tried quite a few places and it just feels like you get *more* at Hounds Town. The staff clearly love animals, and their jobs. Everyone is so friendly. I really can't understate the amazing impression I've gotten of this establishment, just from the first day! My boy came back to me relaxed and happy, with no signs of stress or anxiety. They've definitely earned a regular customer in us.

TL;DR If their dog training services are as decent as some of the reviews imply, the snake wranglers clearly know nothing about dog training, and why they would allow their brand to be impacted by these subs, I'm not sure what the rationale is. I scheduled two of my dogs for snake training the same day. Neither session was productive. They tried to introduce the dogs to 4 different snake settings in the corral. The first one they approached the snake and shocked the dog. After putting the dog into an excited and unteachable state, they proceeded to drag the dog around the property instead of letting it re-enter a submissive, teachable state. They dragged her around so much so that they yanked the collar off of her neck. Then she proceeded to run around the property. I contained her and brought her back. Then coming back, the snake wranglers were just interested in moving onto the next station they had set up and not concerned about the dog, the dog inputs, or assessing the feedback from the dog. Zero dog skills were demonstrated. My other dog didn't want to follow their leash commands because the snake wranglers weren't skilled with a leash. So they drug my second dog out to the first snake with paws firmly planted on the ground. No training occurred. Just people perfunctorily going through the motions Shock. Repeat dragging the dog. Then when they tired of dragging her, they brought the snake to the dog. She was not even aware. She learned to associate the shock with the wrangler's poor leash skills and perhaps his scent, if anything at all because she was so focused on him and not even aware of the snakes. And she's the hunter we find every night shredding and pulling apart frogs or small field mice (rabbits still too quick for her). She loves to rip apart small prey. We thought she would be the one to bolt and attack once seeing the snakes. Only thing more oblivious to the task at hand were the snake wranglers who didn't know how to focus a dog's attention. If looking for snake aversion training, go elsewhere. The training was perfunctory and pure performance. There was no training. About as effective as them selling you snake oil for your dog's ailments. A better name for this offering would be snake aversion Theater.

We have tried another board and train and it hardly moved the needle... the key is that Unleashed trains the pup AND me! I needed to learn how to communicate better with Li. Li'Li used to be extremely skittish and afraid of people - particularly men, but thanks to the calm, confident, and compassionate training from Paul, Avery, Abby, and the entire team, she's become more confident, joyful, and open to people. The transformation is remarkable and deeply heartwarming for me as her mom. What sets Unleashed apart is not just their exceptional skill, but their genuine care and positive, no-drama approach. No yelling, no intimidation - just consistent, respectful, effective guidance. It's changed Li'Li's life and mine, too. She loves going back every few days and excited to see the staff and her furry-friends. Their fees are super reasonable, but the results? Truly priceless. The trainer was knowledgeable, but she made me feel dumb through passive-agressive comments and treated me like I was a terrible owner. It made me really miss K9HQ. I took Ruck there earlier in the year for agility and he was always so excited to see Dave, Karen, and Kevin -- and they allowed him to have his "moment" of joy. I just really appreciate how much they genuinely love my dog and how great they are with me. Dave's never made me feel like I was an idiot or a shitty owner and when I started doing agility with Kevin, he was super patient with Ruck and I. I know that I'm kind of crazy about my dog, which K9HQ understood. They get that I could just let Ruck act like a toolbag, but that I want him to be better than that, so I sought out training and they've always been very supportive of my decisions. So, since he hasn't imploded yet (fingers crossed, especially since now I have a male roommate -- who Ruck is in love with), here's your 5th star, Canine Headquarters.

She has an outstanding reputation with not only other trainers, but with local veternarians. So we went to Canine Headquarters to visit with her and see the facilities. Our visit to Canine Headquarters was WEIRD! The trainer, KARA, was knowledgeable, friendly and more than willing to answer ALL of our questions. The owner, KAREN, was actually rude to us and wouldn't allow us to see the kennels where the dogs stay when not being trained. The dogs, from what I could see, stay in kennels in a backyard with not a lot of weather protection. We were only allowed to stand at the fence and try to look in though. KAREN also talked down to her employee, KARA, in front of us which made both my wife and I very uncomfortable. The facility itself is acceptable, at best and we give it 2 stars. The treatment from the owner was flat out, unacceptable and we give it 1 star. The trainer, KARA, was awesome and we give her 5 stars. Problem is, at the end of the day, Kara goes home and what you are left with is an unacceptable facitlity. For that reason alone, we sadly chose NOT to use Canine Headquarters.

I made my appt 3 weeks I n advance for 2 of my dogs. One needed a trim, and one just needed basic grooming without a haircut. When I drop them off that morning the lady (owner) said "2 shaves, right?" I said no, and explained that I gave her personally all the info when I made the appt 3 weeks prior. She used the excuse that it had been weeks, so she didn't remember. (Why wouldn't she have written that very important information down? ) She then told me she couldn't tend to my dogs that day anymore unless they just got shaved. She gave one of my dogs a quick look with a lot of disgust. Judging me for not bringing him in sooner, and telling me his fur couldn't be salvaged, and would have to all be shaved off. She also said that a vet needed to be the one to groom him because his fur was so "severe". I told her I was in between vets at the moment and didn't feel the need to go that route anyway. She asked me who my vet that I no longer trusted was and when I told her the name, she began to say how respectable that dr is. I again told her I didn't like that dr anymore and my bf explained that the vet recommended I end my dog's life for a condition he no longer even has. She then decided it was her place to say (while touching my dog) that if that's what the vet recommended, that I should do it. NO ONE asked For her opinion or recommendation on the matter. Both my bf and I stood there in utter shock at what she was saying. This is the owner! Her daughter had always been very kind and patient with my baby. She however, I did not trust with my child especially since she felt he should be DEAD. I brought both my kids home, refusing to leave them with her. I came home and cleaned up my dog myself. His fur was fine, and his ears brushed right out even though she said she would have to shave them because "they were so bad". She simply seemed to not want my business and tried to scold me numerous times.
