In all the years that we've lived here, no other plumber or local contractor that my family has worked with has ever asked us to do this. We protect our privacy and our finances and we are not in the habit of giving companies open access to our credit cards. When we politely and honestly explained that to them, they refused to compromise and give us the chance to be a new customer. They explained that they don't know us and that they do this to protect their business... ... but this is frustrating to us because we have excellent credit, pay our bills promptly, and have a solid sense of responsibility. We even offered to them that we would literally go out to the bank to get the cash at the end of the job (right when the plumber finished) in order to protect them, but they unbelievably refused again. I should add that during that same call they started listing to us all that could go wrong and suggested that a $105 service call could become a $2,000+ water heater installation! On the surface, this may seem considerate and responsible to some Yelp readers but taken with their stubborn insistence, it all made me feel uncomfortable and slightly disrespected. I'm not trying to ruin their reputation, but I kindly just want everyone to know what W.M. Rieck Plumbing is capable of.

Coincidentally, the same day the furnace was scheduled for service, we had a flood (sewer stoppage), so we thought we'd just go with the same company. Big mistake. The plumber who came was "after hours" so they weren't going to go through warranty, we had to pay $350 just for him to come. He couldn't diagnose source of the problem... he told us he didn't have the equipment, so they would need to continue the next day. The next day, a different plumber from Jerry's came, who had no knowledge of the previous attempt, but after we filled him in, he said he said could do the work, just needed to get us a price, and then he just LEFT without a word... we called Jerry's and they said first that he had other jobs to go to (obviously we weren't a priority), then said we were trying to pay them for the job through our warranty company (we weren't), and they wanted to be paid privately (which we said over and over, we were going to). After an agonizingly patronizing conversation, it was apparent this company had no intention to actually help us (just collect money for showing up) and was ill equipped to neither discuss nor complete the plumbing work needed, so after 2 days of being unable to use our plumbing, we decided to go elsewhere for our plumbing issue (but Jerry's did decide to cash in on the "service call" though, to get paid by our home warranty!!!) A week later, we tried to check on the status of our furnace repair only to find out from our warranty company that Jerry's submitted a "job complete" invoice to them (again, making sure they got paid for not doing any work), and we were going to be transferred to another service provider bc Jerry's was not going to come out to complete the service bc they received a bad review about walking out on our plumbing issue. It is January, the overnight low is going to be 40 degrees, and Jerry's plumbing and heating doubled down on walking away from their customer, literally leaving us in the cold, without explanation. Do not trust these guys.

Let it be known that the business is now owned by Ricci Hancock, and he is fantastic! Recommended to me by the plumber who installed our water heater, who is now retired. Monday afternoon our water heater started leaking from the top - I called to leave a message, and Ricci called me back within 10 minutes. I described the problem, he knew right away what may be causing it, and scheduled us for first thing Tuesday morning. Ricci was on time, and I found him to be incredibly professional and courteous. He answered all of my questions and talked me through the problem and the warranty. He broke down the price of everything - what the warranty covered, what it didn't, before we agreed to any action. He was able to replace the water heater that same day! When my husband was concerned about the age of the new water heater, Ricci went the extra mile to find the production date from the manufacturer itself, to alleviate any concerns that this had been sitting in a warehouse for years.
