Restaurant Manager Alex Tuckwin and Chef Ty Armstrong created a personal, unforgettable evening. Each course was beautifully prepared, each wine pairing thoughtfully chosen. The flavors, the setting, the kindness-all exceptional. I didn't know my taste buds could be so astounded! We felt welcomed, relaxed, and truly cared for. It was a five star experience in the heart of a college town. A hidden gem we'll remember for a long time. The Oread is home to two true artists-Alex Tuckwin and Ty Armstrong- and we are so grateful to have experienced their work.

They were delicious!! There were lots of other things we could have added but ours were really full with what we got. We also had grape leaves, falafel and baklava. Not much seating. We carried out. We always get 2 different wraps that we split and typically we finish full and happy... I ask again, what happened that everything changed?? I'd say it was the prep person, but the ingredients were off too. We got a crunchy tofu Thai wrap and a kimchi fried rice burrito. I didn't even eat my half of the Thai wrap as it literally consisted of dry cabbage and 6 pieces of tofu that were the size of peas! I had to take a picture because no one would believe my description otherwise. The rice in the kimchi burrito was dry and greasy, but I managed to eat most of that. I'm really very sad as it was the kind of bad that I won't give it another shot because it was both different and bad. The size was easily half what we used to get, way more wrap than filling. I hope the owner uses this review to train or assess the changes made. It really was our favorite lunch spot in town

I had the medium rare bone-in ribeye for $49. It was slightly over cooked but not by much. I didn't like the taste of the rub/sauce on the steak as it tasted a little sour. I've never eaten a steak at a steakhouse with this taste. It was certainly unique. I loved the lump crab cakes though; very moist and creamy. The service was great. Our waiter was attentive and offered a free coffee cake for a birthday celebration. J. Wilson's has an average 4.3 stars on Yelp which is really good. However, the bone-in ribeye was underwhelming. I would rather pay $20-30 more for a more exceptional steak. P.S. my brother also could not finish his KC Strip.
