Stopped in today as it was their Grand Opening after a complete remodel. They gutted the whole restaurant and revamped everything. The place is clean and smelled fresh. Huge improvement as I wouldn't have stepped inside the old one. We ordered the chicken meal and the Cod fish & chips. Food was a solid OK for fast food, no complaints and as long as it stays clean I'll return. Service was excellent, Paris took our order and he was very friendly and ensured we had a great experience. The food was good but the customer service was absolutely HORRIBLE. Walked up to the counter, said hello to the girl working. No response. Stated my order and she said what drink and sides. I looked back up at the menu and I said it doesn't come with a drink. Again, stated my order. The mat by the drink station was so sticky I was second guessing my food. Got my order, it was correct which is good. I asked for 2 vinegar packets and she pointed to a single bottle near the floor and said can I just have 2 packets. She gave them to me. As I was eating a saw a potential customer standing waiting to place his order. The guy, I'm assuming working the drive thru, rang up orders right in front of the potential customer and he never acknowledged him. Finally the girl working the counter came up and was bagging an order, no acknowledgement of said customer. He turned around and walked out, don't blame him. Disclaimer: I don't believe one can compare a fast food chain with any other restaurants but fast food chains that provide similar fare. For that reason, this review is based solely on what I think of this LJS restaurant compared to other LJS and Captain D's, since they really are the only ones of this type within the north Dallas/Plano area that offer "fish and chips." And, on that note... I have been eating at this LJS for a few years now and the food has always been good and hot. The staff has also been friendly and delivered my orders promptly and courteously. The dining room though has apparently fallen victim to what I believe is a desire of LJS's parent company struggling to keep its profits higher while trimming fat. And, a dining room looking aged and out of date appears to be the result of trimming the fat. It is somewhat sad that it's gone the way it has for niche restaurants like LJS, because I am certain there are quite a few die hard fish and chips lovers like myself who would love to see such a resurgence in LJS business that there would be trickle down benefits enjoyed by loyal customers like myself; larger portion sizes, more modern dining rooms, nicer restrooms, and more staff. It sadly just seems like a "floundering fish." One other inherent problem of fat trimming is a struggle to hire and keep quality employees. While the staff at this LJS has always been attentive, friendly, and courteous, on a recent visit, I overheard a couple of the employees making small talk and their conversation was quite profanity-ridden. Definitely not something I thought was work appropriate or language that should be used in earshot of customers. All things considered, I am still a major fan of LJS and will still frequent this LJS location! If you're a fan of fish and chips and want prompt service and hot food, you won't be disappointed visiting this location! Eat well. Be well. Cheers! read more

I think there's new management here compared to previous couple years. All I have to say is I LOVED it and it feels like the LJS of golden days again. Went on a Wednesday evening 7pm. Got the battered fish and shrimp platter for $12.99 dine in and they brought the tray to every customer who chose to dine in. They followed up to ask how the food was, and overall showed a lot of great friendly customer service. It was a little under 10 minute wait time, but I'm not someone who cares when it's fried to order. All the tables were so clean, no greasy oil hanging in the air like some fast food places. Food was perfectly crispy and golden and they were generous with crumblies without me asking too. Battered shrimp was so tender and juicy inside. Cole slaw is the right balance of sweet and tangy. Green beans are classic. Hushpuppies are always tender and to die for. There are literally seafood restaurants who charge for more and can't get the food to taste as good or have as much value. I'm kinda sad. I went to LJS many times 50 years ago or so. The fish was thick, maybe 1/4", fresh-tasting and flaky and the batter was crispy. Tonight my fish was thin, dry, tough. The first time when I asked for extra tartar sauce the girl at the drive thru asked me how many, I told her 10 and had no problem. Today I stopped by again and told them I needed 12 tartar sauce and 6 shrimp sauces. When they brought the food out to the car, I again asked if the 12 tartar sauce and 6 shrimp sauces were in the bag and he assured me they were. When I got home, only half of the sauces I asked for were in the bag. If my wife runs out of sauce when she's eating fish she'll stop eating. Needless to say, she didn't finish her meal. The interior is just your basic Long John Silvers, but immaculate and clean enough to impress Martha Stewart. You place your order at the counter and either pick it up when your order is called, 430 bring it to you. Most meals are around $5 to $7 dollars with ulimited drink refills. If I didn't have to give one star, I wouldn't. My mother in law was visiting from Houston and wanted fish from Long John Silvers. Admittedly a place I do not frequent. When we arrived Victoria, who was busy wiping down a counter away from the counter register asked my spouse, "Is this for here or to go?". My spouse promptly responded, "Its for here, but we may need a minute to decide." She promptly and rudely responded, "You need a minute to decide if it's for here or not?" We decided on our order and I took my mother in law to a table while my spouse ordered, at which point Victoria constantly interrupted asking questions that he had already answered, sometimes twice about, "Well, what sides do you want?", or rudely interrupting and asking, "Well which one do you want, the two or three price?" I walked up to the counter and said we need to leave. My spouse told the employee that she was one of the rudest people he's encountered. When she responded, "I didn't do anything", he asked for the manager. I'm saddened that I'm even typing this much in a review. This individual was rude, what appeared to be racist and I am shocked how the Manager mid-handled the situation. Albeit choice words were said and regretted on behalf of my husband, but when a representative is smirking and blatantly rude, it's unacceptable. I didn't want to go to Long John Silvers, I'm disappointed I wasted my time going, and I'm disappointed I am wasting my time with this review over someone who means nothing to me.
