    I have a huge confession, I love Long John Silver's. When it comes to fast food and it is up to be to select, I will always pick LJS over anything else, hands down. I cannot tell you why, but it probably has something to do with the fact that it is not the same as other places when it comes to fast food. I once had a friend ask how LJS was still open and that there had to be a secret society of people that frequent. I took a picture of my food I had just ordered and sent it to him with the raised hand emoji, guilty, I'm in that secret society. In college I was a sucker for the hush puppies. Not only because they were cheap for a dozen and I was a poor college kid, but they spoke to me and filled me up. Now, I go for more than just the hush puppies, because let's be truthful, LJS is a bit on the expensive side when it comes to a fast meal from a fast food joint. Recently I have had that craving and totally forgot that this was located in Penn Hills. I was pleasantly surprised driving up Rodi Road and didn't have to think twice about pulling in to the drive thru. I can't remember if dining in was an option when I stopped or not, but I wasn't going to do that anyhow. When I pulled up to the drive thru there were only two vehicles in front of me, which made me think that I was going to have a fast experience. Nope. It was like they were taking an order, preparing that order, receiving payment for that order, and serving that order through the window before moving on to the next order. I literally pulled up to the menu finally and was told to hold on a minute. By that time, the line for the drive thru had grown by many vehicles. Finally get to place my order and was told to pull around. Did not get to pull around too far as the two cars that were in front of me had not moved from the window yet. In a time crunch, a slow drive thru does not make for a fast experience. Really couldn't do anything about it, I ordered, I wanted the food, I had to wait. As I am waiting, I take in the building, like I said in the picture, it looks as if it could be on an old boardwalk or a designated area in an amusement park. I watched while waiting for my food. It looked as if the person in the drive thru window was having a long conversation with the people in the vehicles in front of me. That could have backed up your times on food preparation as well. I finally did get my food, but not the way I ordered it. The sides I asked for for my platter were not the correct sides. I did not argue this point because I had already wasted so much time waiting, I just went. Even though I love me some LJS, that could not save this review from receiving the stars it did. The experience itself was less than stellar, and the people working were not all that nice either. I'm sure if I would have dined in, the inside would have looked as worn as the outside. Should note that this is a Long John Silver's/A&W. So you can get a burger, hot dog, and something odd to pair with your fish and chicken platter.

    I'm giving this place one star because Yelp doesn't let me rate places with negative numbers. It would have a minus 2 if I could. We went through the drive-thru. From getting in line (three cars ahead of us) to leaving took 35 minutes. 25 of that was after we'd ordered. As I was ordering, I had to keep repeating things because he just couldn't get the order right. I don't know if they have a bad intercom system or the guy just didn't know what he was doing, but I had to repeat myself quite a bit. And he seemed upset with me because he had to change the order from the LJS #8 platter to the A&W A8 platter. I said it enough times, stressing the A before the 8, so that was hardly my fault! When we finally got to the window & paid, he handed me our bag of food. We sat there waiting because we didn't get the drink that came with it. We waited quite awhile for it while he took orders and someone else filled drinks. I knew the drinks weren't for us because they all had ice. We had a Mountain Dew, no ice. Since we had to sit there so long, we decided to check our order. Good thing we did because it wasn't right. Kiddo ordered the chicken platter with a double order of fries. She got the chicken platter with one side of fries and a side of rice. I had to call to the guy to get his attention. He didn't even notice the same car was sitting outside his window. There was a line behind us, so he should have been on to the next car's payment, but no. When I got his attention, I told him we didn't get our drink. His reply, "I know. We're getting it," was said really rudely. And, uh no, they WEREN'T getting it. There were drinks lined up at the station for the cars behind us. There wasn't one for us. Then he got really unpleasant after I told him our order wasn't correct. I said I'd ordered fries and fries, not fries and rice. He called out for someone to get him a side of rice, and before he even finished, he said (in a nasty tone), "Never mind. I'll get it myself." Excuse me, but it wasn't MY fault the order was wrong! By the time we got home, my onion rings were as cold and hard. I figured they would be with waiting so long for our food. So the food was subpar and the service was as rude as I've been treated in a very long time. We will NOT be back!!!

    I'll just start off by saying that i don't eat here and have chosen not too for quite sometime. Only reason i was here was because my mom was in the mood for a chili cheese dog and this is the only place that has one locally. The drive thru is a sorry excuse for outdoor customer service. it's so rickety and the signs are all old and outdated. The Glass that housed them menu was clousy and filthy looking. They used to be a Long John/ A & W but i guess that alliance wore thin. I ordered my mom her dog and got my nephew a chicken finger kids meal. The service was prompt but the inside of the kitchen station through the window was filthy. there was food and flour on the fllor and everything...i mean EVERYTHING was covered in grease. When the cashier handed my the food i checked the bag. my nephews meal wasn't even wrapped it was just a few fries, one piece of chicken and one hushpuppy sitting open inside the bag. tsk tsk! The smell was pretty good and i was almost tempted to eating a french fry but after remembering how that place looked i just chugged some water and waited to get home. At least there i made myself a decent salad.

    Floor is greasy customers are very rude exhaust fans probably don't work very hard to eat inside because of the grease smell

Beer battered with lots of spice and taste. Overall way better than I anticipated, based on the reviews.

My granddaughter said, "Well at least it'll be hot." WRONG! We waited about 8 minutes past the time it should have been ready, and it wasn't hot. I got the chicken snacker. It consisted of a chicken tender on a mini-sub roll. The tender was much thinner than the bun, so it basically had a 2-to-1 ratio of bun to chicken. The mayonnaise wasn't spread on the bun. It was just slopped on the chicken. It was awful. For a place that only does chicken, the chicken should be much better. I don't recommend this place at all. Next time I'll drive a little farther and go to Chick-fil-A. Even Wendy's next door would have been a better choice for chicken.

All in all, I'm pretty satisfied and would most likely continue to order from there.
