The worst experience with a restaurant I have had in quite some time. In the email I got, it was clear about the procedure: Special Instructions Diner requested a contact-free delivery. Please call/text the diner when you arrive and leave the order on their doorstep or in the lobby unless other instructions are given here: I got no phone call or text, and since I had checked for my order several times and nothing was there, I waited patiently. When I finally found my food sitting outside, it was ice cold. I called GrubHub about this as suggested in my email. I was told that they would do nothing. All in all, a terrible experience as a delivery option. On Saturday, we dined in at the Long John Silver's restaurant located at 300 Rodi Road, Penn Hills, PA 15235 Restrooms: There are no paper towels in the Men's restroom. However, there are two hand dryers in the Men's restroom. The one I used dispensed lukewarm forced air. My wife said she used paper towels in the Women's restroom. Forced air hand dryers spray bacteria, mold and mildew. Note: Ensure a representative from the Pennsylvania health department inspect both bathrooms, before July 31, 2024. Slippery Floors: When I came from the restroom, I commented to my wife about the slippery floors in the public areas. She noticed the slippery foots too. She said that she overheard a customer complain about the slippery floors. My wife also said that the same customer commented to the front counter employee about the slippery floors, and the employee said she knows about it, and there is a yellow A-frame sign to caution people about the slippery floors. We highly recommend that someone from headquarters ensure management/owners have the right materials and personnel to remove the grease and/or soap from the slippery floors. Salmon Overcooked: I ordered a combination of four shrimp, salmon, rice string beans and I never had salmon so tough in my life. I chose not to comment about this issue to anyone working in Long John Silver's Restaurant in Penn Hills, Pa. This is the second overcooked salmon I had at this restaurant. Haven't been to a Long John Silvers in years - had a craving for it today and went to the Penn Hills location at 1p on a Thursday. The person taking my order was so friendly and helpful. I got the 2 chicken 1 fish meal with corn and crispies. The food was so good! Everything was steaming hot and fresh. I was almost lead astray by previous reviews but I'm so happy I went. The only downside was that I planned to eat inside but their dining room was closed so I had to get drive thru, but that didn't take too much away from the experience. read more

I have a huge confession, I love Long John Silver's. When it comes to fast food and it is up to be to select, I will always pick LJS over anything else, hands down. I cannot tell you why, but it probably has something to do with the fact that it is not the same as other places when it comes to fast food. I once had a friend ask how LJS was still open and that there had to be a secret society of people that frequent. I took a picture of my food I had just ordered and sent it to him with the raised hand emoji, guilty, I'm in that secret society. In college I was a sucker for the hush puppies. Not only because they were cheap for a dozen and I was a poor college kid, but they spoke to me and filled me up. Now, I go for more than just the hush puppies, because let's be truthful, LJS is a bit on the expensive side when it comes to a fast meal from a fast food joint. Recently I have had that craving and totally forgot that this was located in Penn Hills. I was pleasantly surprised driving up Rodi Road and didn't have to think twice about pulling in to the drive thru. I can't remember if dining in was an option when I stopped or not, but I wasn't going to do that anyhow. When I pulled up to the drive thru there were only two vehicles in front of me, which made me think that I was going to have a fast experience. Nope. It was like they were taking an order, preparing that order, receiving payment for that order, and serving that order through the window before moving on to the next order. I literally pulled up to the menu finally and was told to hold on a minute. By that time, the line for the drive thru had grown by many vehicles. Finally get to place my order and was told to pull around. Did not get to pull around too far as the two cars that were in front of me had not moved from the window yet. In a time crunch, a slow drive thru does not make for a fast experience. Really couldn't do anything about it, I ordered, I wanted the food, I had to wait. As I am waiting, I take in the building, like I said in the picture, it looks as if it could be on an old boardwalk or a designated area in an amusement park. I watched while waiting for my food. It looked as if the person in the drive thru window was having a long conversation with the people in the vehicles in front of me. That could have backed up your times on food preparation as well. I finally did get my food, but not the way I ordered it. The sides I asked for for my platter were not the correct sides. I did not argue this point because I had already wasted so much time waiting, I just went. Even though I love me some LJS, that could not save this review from receiving the stars it did. The experience itself was less than stellar, and the people working were not all that nice either. I'm sure if I would have dined in, the inside would have looked as worn as the outside. Should note that this is a Long John Silver's/A&W. So you can get a burger, hot dog, and something odd to pair with your fish and chicken platter. read more

The food at LJS is incredible. Or at least the fish is. That stuff WILL REQUIRE a bathroom soon after eating, however. Do not misunderstand me. The food is delicious there. The grease is a bit over the top, understandably, and as it should be, for, as I call it, the treat that makes BOTH SIDES happy! read more

I'm giving this place one star because Yelp doesn't let me rate places with negative numbers. It would have a minus 2 if I could. We went through the drive-thru. From getting in line (three cars ahead of us) to leaving took 35 minutes. 25 of that was after we'd ordered. As I was ordering, I had to keep repeating things because he just couldn't get the order right. I don't know if they have a bad intercom system or the guy just didn't know what he was doing, but I had to repeat myself quite a bit. And he seemed upset with me because he had to change the order from the LJS #8 platter to the A&W A8 platter. I said it enough times, stressing the A before the 8, so that was hardly my fault! When we finally got to the window & paid, he handed me our bag of food. We sat there waiting because we didn't get the drink that came with it. We waited quite awhile for it while he took orders and someone else filled drinks. I knew the drinks weren't for us because they all had ice. We had a Mountain Dew, no ice. Since we had to sit there so long, we decided to check our order. Good thing we did because it wasn't right. Kiddo ordered the chicken platter with a double order of fries. She got the chicken platter with one side of fries and a side of rice. I had to call to the guy to get his attention. He didn't even notice the same car was sitting outside his window. There was a line behind us, so he should have been on to the next car's payment, but no. When I got his attention, I told him we didn't get our drink. His reply, "I know. We're getting it," was said really rudely. And, uh no, they WEREN'T getting it. There were drinks lined up at the station for the cars behind us. There wasn't one for us. Then he got really unpleasant after I told him our order wasn't correct. I said I'd ordered fries and fries, not fries and rice. He called out for someone to get him a side of rice, and before he even finished, he said (in a nasty tone), "Never mind. I'll get it myself." Excuse me, but it wasn't MY fault the order was wrong! By the time we got home, my onion rings were as cold and hard. I figured they would be with waiting so long for our food. So the food was subpar and the service was as rude as I've been treated in a very long time. We will NOT be back!!! read more

Came here last night and a few times last year. Have to say that service was always super friendly and quick. The food was always hot and delicious. And the A&W burgers are fantastic. I like the A&W burgers here more than any other fast food -- even better than 5 guys. It was very busy last night, so glad to see that other people seem to like it too. With most of the Long John Silver's closing in the area, few are left. I do like the one closest to Kennywood, but the one one Rodi inPenn Hills was on our travels today. I saw the old pictures and read the reviews. For today this visit I can't agree with them. I found the restaurant clean and friendly! I enjoyed the 2 Fish and More. And the girl who is often working inside register is always rude. So much nostalgia floods my body when me and my boyfriend eat here. From a little girl with her mom till now the food hasn't ever changed. it's just as good as I remember it being this was the second time we ordered from this location and both times we had top notch service and hot delicious food. I just love the fish and shrimp here. Not PC, but tasty. The Shrimp is really good; big, juicy. Crumbliest are so good, you have to ask for them, tho'. My favorite way of eating fish, yum! Cheese curds are also good. Sometimes the fries taste fishy, but are never greasy or limp. I've never cared for Hush puppies, but my puppy likes them. read more

I'll just start off by saying that i don't eat here and have chosen not too for quite sometime. Only reason i was here was because my mom was in the mood for a chili cheese dog and this is the only place that has one locally. The drive thru is a sorry excuse for outdoor customer service. it's so rickety and the signs are all old and outdated. The Glass that housed them menu was clousy and filthy looking. They used to be a Long John/ A & W but i guess that alliance wore thin. I ordered my mom her dog and got my nephew a chicken finger kids meal. The service was prompt but the inside of the kitchen station through the window was filthy. there was food and flour on the fllor and everything...i mean EVERYTHING was covered in grease. When the cashier handed my the food i checked the bag. my nephews meal wasn't even wrapped it was just a few fries, one piece of chicken and one hushpuppy sitting open inside the bag. tsk tsk! The smell was pretty good and i was almost tempted to eating a french fry but after remembering how that place looked i just chugged some water and waited to get home. For the first time in my life, I contacted the health department. I've never been in a place this dirty. I want this business to survive because it is one of the last open long john silvers but this place just needs to close. The floor is greasy, there were flies everywhere, the tables were filthy, mold on the fountain drink dispenser, and the most disappointing despite all that was the A&W root beer was off. As long as they still exist, we will partake. This particular location has an A&W All American as well. The often long wait is worth it for the fresh cooked to order meals and friendly and courteous staff. While the establishment is in need of some updates and the drive thru order is broken, that doesn't stop the staff from providing decent fast food fish platters with a smile. We ordered the 2 fish, chicken and 3 shrimp platter with a side of fries and cole slaw. The batter is almost always crunchy and a bit salty. There are 2 tender crunchy hush puppies added to the meal, along with crunchy crumbs added to the bottom of the tray. The portions are hefty for a healthy appetite. They provide ketchup, tartar sauce and malt vinegar packets. This place is a bit of the past that we sometimes crave because not much has changed in nearly 20+ years. Maybe adopting the 'LJS' moniker and a few variations in the menu items, but this is nostalgia at one of its best. read more

Long John SIlvers, as a food chain, is not top-drawer. It's cheap fried fish for the most part, not the healthiest of food, but delicious. And unfortunately, for whatever reason, these restaurants often have customer service issues, understaffed and less than courteous. That said, this particular location has never failed to be polite, prompt, and correct in my order. Every time I go there, I get exactly what I ask for with little delay and everyone's cheerfully polite. The only real caveat I have with this location is that they have a pothole right in front of the drive-through window that's a bit alarming to hit the first time, and which requires a goose of the accelerator to exit. read more

Tonight I ordered for a group and got (from A&W side) PapaBurgers and Hotdogs, fries, onion rings,and got hushpuppies and stuff from LJS side, everything was perfect and great. I had the misfortune of dining at two different LJS with very disappointing results. LJS on Rodi Road - I was in the neighborhood after a quick meeting and decided to make a quick stop. My first observation, the condiments are in packages without the LJS label or logo...off brand products, tartar sauce, ketchup, etc. My order was incorrect, they fixed it, while waiting I noticed the overly greasy floor. I ordered the rice pilaf which came in a small styrofoam container, the rice was sour,spoiled. I wasnt able to take it back as this LJS was out of my neighborhood. Now I have been toother LJS and have had the same experience, (west mifflin) this location was dirty, I went to wash my hands before having my lunch, the bathroom was rank,smelled like standing water,the toilet was filthy nasty, I couldn't use the bathroom, it was so nasty. I just left. This location could defiantly use a visit from the health department, to assisting in meeting the restaurant standard. I was sorry to have to step away from this guilty pleasure, it was surely for the best. surprised more people haven't become ill. read more

The food was old and not fresh. I was given knock off sauce that was not from LJS. The restaurant is in a state is disrepair and is just about falling down. There are two HUGE potholes in the drive thru that I know from previous visits have been there for a long time (years) that they refuse to fix. This restaurant is not up to the standards to represent the franchise or any restaurant for that matter. I can just imagine how disgusting the inside of the restaurant is. The staff seem to be doing the best they can with no management involvement to maintain the restaurant or hold them to quality control standards. read more
