Food ok but drive through people are terrible. Forgot to put item on the order, skipped plastic wear, talking and texting friends while supposed to be working. Called the manager today and she didn't seem to care. Didn't even ask the order number or what time the problem occurred. I won't go back. Recommend not going there. John. read more

I love it when restaurants are merged together like this because I probably wouldn't have stopped at either one if it was a standalone restaurant. Together, you have a wider variety of things to choose from. Plus, they are both cheap. For about $4, you can get a tasty piece of fish, a surprisingly good piece of chicken (plank), and okay fries. They also have amazing root beer freezes which is halfway between a float and a shake. Service is subpar, and check your receipts because the prices did not match the menu. Still, a nice place to stop by for a quick bite if you are in the East Peoria area. read more

I went there today with a friend and they had an employee wandering around the dining room asking people if they wanted refills or to take their tray. I'm not sure what the point of this was. This employee interrupted us twice in about 15 minutes. I'm sure she's forced to this obviously unhelpful task by management but I'm not sure why. Maybe they want people to be in and out, or maybe they want to seem like they have excellent customer service. Some managers are really dumb and have no concept of appropriate levels of customer service. I also know there are some customers there who used to be rich before last year but now they're broke and go here and have no idea what it's like to work a service job and treat this employee like garbage for being in the way. "Michael" took our order and then went to talk to another employee for 15 minutes while our food sat in the kitchen window. We couldn't get anyone's attention to get it. When the conversation was over he tossed our food in a bag upside down including my seafood salad. I gave it 2 stars because the food was good, although it wasn't hot. read more

I generally love Long John Silvers and I will continue to eat there but not at the East Peoria location. The food is ok but they have an elderly lady that goes around cleaning tables, wiping booths and cleaning in general, reaching into the trash bins and pushing garbage down with her bare hands. Then it got a little busy and she goes directly behind the counter and starts bringing out orders to the tables. PLEASE!! If you are going to allow that, don't let me see it. Because it will probably be years before I go back to that particular establishment. Very unsanitary. read more

When I was reviewing the menu I saw that they have seasoning flavors: lemon pepper, spicy lemon pepper, garlic lemon pepper and ranch lemon pepper. I sense a theme here. I thought regular was perfect. My cousin has had the dark chicken which she said was very good. Like the fish the chicken coating doesn't overwhelm the meat and is similar to an original style instead of extra crispy. The gyro plate is plentiful and flavorful. The pita was large enough to hold the fillings. They have sandwich and meal options including fries. Since the portions are so large I think I think the monster burger and monster gyro plate (5 pitas, the works & family fries) must be HUGE! Desserts are cake, cheesecake, parfait and taffy grapes. I googled taffy grapes and it looks like fresh produce dipped in a candy topping with nuts mixed in. My next meal at Sharkey's will be onion rings and taffy grapes.

I only knew this because I got a flyer in the mail offering a free sandwich for the grand opening of Jersey Mike's. Matt got the same flyer in the mail, so I asked him if he wanted to check the place out. He agreed and we found an afternoon we were both free to redeem our free sandwiches. We got lucky as there wasn't a long wait for us to order our food. The coupon we had was for a free sandwich but we also grabbed some chips and soda to round out the meal. From what I remember, ordering a sub here is like any other sub shop. You pick out what sandwich you want from the menu and then you can customize it to your liking. Matt and I placed our ordered, waited for our food and took a seat outside. I grew up eating Subway in my late teens and early 20s so I am all too familiar with eating and ordering sub sandwiches. It wasn't until I started to travel that I realized that sub sandwiches have more to them than the mass-produced stuff they have at Subway. I've tried Head West, Firehouse Subs, Snarfs, and a few others. Once I tried these places, I haven't had Subway since. It's just my personal opinion but I feel these smaller chains do it better. Does Jersey Mike's do it better than Subway? Yes. Yes it does and then some. Jersey Mike's is easily in my Top 5 for places to get subs. Despite not remembering the specific sandwich I ordered, I do remember being amazed at the softness of the bread and the quality of everything smashed in that small crevice where the bread was split open. Each bite was full of flavor and everything tasted as if it were cooked fresh. It was with luck that I got another flyer in the mail. It was an offer that any money donated to the local firefighters earned you a free sandwich. I took the offer down there, threw some money in their firefighter tip jar and quickly scooped up my free sandwich. I remember being amazed at how good it was and that my first trip wasn't a fluke. If you like subs, you owe it to yourself to try Jersey Mike's (or one of the ones listed above). If you don't have one near you, I would encourage you to see what smaller sub shops are in your area and to try them out. Sometimes its a nice surprise when you try the stuff that isn't known nationwide.
