And poor Captain D's. When I went to Popeye's, on a weekday at 4pm, the Cap'n was empty. I wasn't sure it was even open, but there were lights on inside. I bet this place has made a dent in their business. Popeye's was moderately busy, a steady stream at the drive-through. Though part of that is standard Popeye's slowness. Every location seems to take a bit. Once we ordered, though, the food was ready after only a short wait at the window. Smallish lot, shiny new building. Friendly staff. I got the 12 for $12 wing special, because why not? With sweet hot sauce, which coated all but was not heavy and didn't soften the crispiness of the wings. Mid-size wings, cooked well, not super moist inside but decent, very crispy outside. I liked 'em. Also got a batch of "dippers," little tenders. Almost worth the $5, also crispy and well cooked (and a bit dry inside,) with a couple of dipping sauces. All that was too much for me, really made two meals. Kid K saw the strawberry cream cheese "pies" and scarfed one down, said it was good. We were headed home so didn't get drinks or sides, but they have a good selection. I'd come back. Construction is bad right now on Cleveland, and there's the "Popeye's wait." But it was worth it.

I ordered cheese fries deconstructed because my daughter was unsure if she'd like the chili and cheese sauce and wanted to try them separate before adding to her fries. We found a blonde hair on a fry that had been dipped in the cheese sauce but couldn't identify if it was from the fry or cheese. I brought it to the attention of Cat who took the contaminated fry from my hand and in a very snarky tone said "I guess I can throw it away" I said "I didn't bring it to your attention for you to throw it away both the fry and sauce needs replaced please" she proceeded to walk off and huff. Fries were brought back with the cheese covering them ... which is not how she took away both the fries and the cheese. I ordered the pastrami bacon burger double which was missing the onion. The pastrami bacon was the highlight to my sandwich for sure! My daughter ordered the single classic burger which she says was fine. I haven't tried the banana jam banana pudding yet but I also ordered that as well. The kitchen staff were loud, someone in the kitchen questioned me with an attitude insinuating I was attempting to get a refund when in all actuality I was asking for my receipt. I would never recommend this establishment based on the behavior and attitude of its employees!

I'm not sure what's happened over the last year though. The customer service has been poor, and I reached a 'can't return' moment recently. There was a large sign outside that said "Happy hour deal, 10 dollars for a burger and a beer". The bill came to 15 dollars. I talked to a bartender and to explain the mistake and they said that's actually official policy, to not give the happy hour price unless you ask for it while ordering. I've never heard of that before. I said that's an unethical policy and they could not have cared less. No apologies, nothing. Now, if it's truly the businesses policy, the employees are just doing their job. They don't have to care, but it would have been nice if they pretended to sympathize. Ultimately, it's either a bizarre, rude policy, or the employees are skimming the difference. Neither option is ok with me.

I said OK if you're my receipt will reflect that just let me know. I'm gonna run it to Corporate real quick once I get my hands on it and that's fine. And then he said do you want the Mayo? I said no I just want you guys to enforce standard practices and not charged different prices or different customers as they walk in. He checked me out and did not give me a receipt. After the other manager came to give me a receipt finally I noticed I was charged $.50 for extra Mayo. So I've been a long time Mr. hero fan and never had to pay for Mayo before and it may not seem like a huge deal but times are hard all over and you would just think that something like this people should know before they go in order because if it's not specifically listed on the pricing it could represent misrepresentation of pricing

I hope you like heat, because Johnny makes just about everything spicy, very spicy, but very delicious. The fish po boy was just like I remembered it with his sauteed tilapia and signature wine butter sauce, but he also does a creole shrimp po boy, a roast beef po boy, and what might be my new favorite a Johnny Cheesesteak, a Johnny, not a Philly, as he says. What he means by that is it too is cajun spiced, but, man, that's a great cheesesteak. I had never had his barbecue, but I tried that earlier today as well.
