My family has been going there for many years as a quick last resort even though the food is very basic. Definitely not our Chinese restaurant of choice, but it does the job in a pinch. In recent years the costumer service has totally diminished and they can care less about how and what they serve their costumer (most of which are neighborhood residents). Well after last night, I will never give them another dime! I'm a senior citizen who doesn't drive, before taking me home, my daughter took me to pick up my dinner (egg foo young)when I sat down to eat, NO GRAVY!! I called back immediately to tell they gave me dry egg foo young aka an omelette. She tells me yes she didn't pack it but I can come get it. I explained my situation and asked if I could either come tomorrow and get a fresh order or a refund. Without even letting me finish, she said " I'm not making another dish or giving you a refund tomorrow. You can come get the gravy (now cold) now! I hung up because action speaks louder than words. Eh its alright I've been to better chinese spots and this one is below expectations which doesn't happen too often since most Chinese spots are pretty homogenous. My Lo mein was good and the sauce from the veggie meal has a nice flavor but the points stop there. The chicken wings were standard but I felt gimped on a couple of them as they were smaller than the others. The shrimp in my Lo mein was micro not like I've seen elsewhere. This is basically a take out only Chinese restaurant as the chairs in there are suitable for just waiting in. There is limited delivery here and cash only here both of which mystify me in this day in age. Its been around for some time, so perhaps they feel they don't have to change their model? Both would would be an improvement to me. The other thing is all the random stuff they have jammed inside. Really. Its like a makeshift discount store with handsoap, rags, chapstick, potato chips toothbrushes, old cell phone belt cases, aerosol air freshners and more! Why!? I can understand trying to make a few bucks selling some candy or cookies but seriously it just looks cluttered and disorganized. Maybe its too much to take some of their money and open an actual store for that stuff? Either way it seems out of place. Its got some yelp attention with its "people love us on yelp" sticker and even a recognition award from 2016 posted which is cool but I really don't see the big deal. It is totally worth a trip to get take out from Long Hing. It's not a sit down restaurant, it's take out only. But if you've read my other reviews of Chinese places, you know I've been lamenting the loss of Sesame. I found my take out place in Long Hing. They have the BEST pork dumplings I've tasted -- in fact, better than Sesame; never thought they did a good job on those. Long Hing's dumpling wrappers are the perfect texture (some places can get doughy), and the spices they use with the meat are perfect. The dipping sauce that comes with it has a little kick to it, which I like a lot. I am a sucker for a good garlic sauce, and what they make with theirs is always great. I sometimes get just broccoli in garlic sauce, which in some places comes out a bit wilty, but they do a great job here. Please don't be fooled by what you see -- when you drive by, it looks very low-key. Pull over and park, and go in and order something. The prices are great, the food delicious. Fool me once....At best this is a very average Chinese takeout. There is almost no parking nearby. There are two metered spaces and that is it. No place to park outside the place. The food was gummy and heavily breaded. We had General Tso's chicken which usually has hot peppers in it this was bland, sesame beef again bland and fried dumplings which were as heavy as a rock. None of them were very good. I don't know why 11 people raved about this place. It's just not very good. Why are there no good Chinese restaurants anywhere near me in Essex county? This is by far the best chinese food in all of the clair. And its not even really in the clair. This is a great place to stumble to one night with youre friends. Then somehow end up there every weekend after that. Eventually bring your girlfriend here when you get serious. And maybe even letting it meet the family. This place is like a really good friend I'm worried about my parents meeting. Just in case you want to go to both a convenience store and a chinese place in one night, they got you covered. They sell all of your cleaning and clothing needs right inside. When i went here with my dad he actually bartered to get a pair of gloves instead of the soda that came with the meal. Lets just review a quick list of pros and cons for this place tho: Pros: Food is bangin Pork dumplings three hunnit Pupu platter sounds funny Ribs are incredigasmic Chicken is poppin Strengthens my faith in god Made myself and people around me happier Made me accepting of myself and other people Cons: Everyone would assume that I would put "bad neighborhood" here. Staff is so nice! I've only ever ordered delivery, but every phone call is pleasant and easy. I ask a lot of questions when I'm ordering and they're always patient with me as well. The one time an item was forgotten (a small side) they sent someone right back over (even though I said it was ok!) with a complimentary drink. Aside from customer service, food is also good, a step or two up from your usual take out. I have been going here for years. The food is pretty good. but I stopped about a year or so ago. The reason being, the person who cooks sweats all over the food. Like he literally wipes his forehead with his hand while he's cooking. Disgusting I obviously politely asked him to wash his hands and he did. But another time I returned to buy some food and the lady got my cash (which is full of germs), put it in the register, then touched the chicken she was going to cook for me without gloves. This is my very first time ordering here. I usually order from New Jin Lin in Montclair but it's closed every Monday. I was awfully disappointed the rice as very chewy and smelled like play-doh. The chicken and broccoli was very salty. It also had a weird smell. They gave me pineapple which I found confusing why because some places they would give you free can soda. Don't let the looks of this place fool you. The food is amazing! I have been going here for over 10 years. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are very large. I usually stick with chicken and broccoli, but have had many dishes. Some of my favorites include the sweet and sour chicken, the BBQ spare ribs, and chicken lo mein. Authentic Flavor! & Great Value! I have purchased Chinese food from all except for one Chinese restaurant in Montclair. And in my opinion Long Hing has The BEST Chinese food in Montclair. After living in NYC for 18 years, I acquired tastes for my favorite Chinese dishes that I have not been able to find in New Jersey. I have tried Chinese food in West Orange, Newark, Hillside, Jersey City, Hoboken, Paterson, Passaic, Clifton, East Orange, Iselin, Parsippany, Summit, Union, Elizabeth, Watchung, Warren, Bloomfield, West Caldwell, Fairfield, in my quest for what I consider authentic Chinese flavors but although one was close (Asian Delight, West Caldwell) with a "mixed-bag" of dishes that were close; none were spot on with. One added note about what I consider spot on. Many Asian restaurants have been incorporating peas and carrots into some dishes. Peas and carrots in fried rice and Egg Foo Young is not authentic, so in order to get the taste that I refer to as authentic, when ordering say "no peas and carrots". Another note: if a Chinese restaurant does not use bean sprouts in their dishes; that is similar to not having mustard or ketchup at a cook-out; how weird is that? Here is my list of favorites: Egg Foo Young Perfect: Ask them to put the gravy on the patties instead of in a separate container. The gravy should smother the patties and incorporate into the patties before you are ready to eat it. Your trip home will be enough time for that flavor to permeate throughout. Lo Mein Wow: I don't know what seasoning or ingredient delivers the very unique flavor note that brings me back to some of the best tasting Chinese food in New York but whatever it is, this restaurant has that ingredient and none of the others that I have eaten at in NJ uses it in their Lo Mein. Shrimp Chow Mein Perfect Beef with Ginger and Scallion Wow Wee Only one other place in New Jersey delivered the flavor the I am accustomed to and that is MeeMah (Malaysian Restaurant in Edison) I was hesitant about trying it at Long Hing, and they shocked me. It was perfect! Tofu with Black Bean Sauce Great! Best of all, I purchased all of the following for $56.00 and they gave me a free liter of Soda 1 pint and 1 quart of Vegetable Lo Mein 2 orders of Vegetable Egg Foo Young 1 quart of shrimp Chow Mein 1 order of Beef w/Scallion and Ginger 1 order of Tofu with Black Bean Sauce 1 quart of Vegetable Fried Rice My family ate dinner and had enough leftovers for lunch. read more

ive been going here for years the food is good and it's just basic "Chinese Food". Idk what the previous reviewer is talking about when she say it's on the "wrong side of town". During the summer time theyre are some sketchy kids hanging out in front or in the area, yes, but i believe that's due to the traffic around the strip mall -esque place of South End. They sell a lot of affordable over the counter paraphernalia so they get a lot of Teens and adults coming there to purchase because i believe it's the only place in the area selling stuff like that.
