Nice location to take the family out. If eating inside the hanger with your family isn't ideal considering how loud and heavy foot traffic can get, they have a massive space outside where you can eat with your family while letting kids play in the grassy area. Prices inside differentiate depending on what you're looking to eat/drink (e.g., tacos, sushi, burgers, ramen, etc.). These prices are not cheap, FYI. So coming here with a family to feed could be a hefty penny out of your pocket. My family and I visited the Long Beach Exchange/Hangar and had an early Mother's Day lunch on Saturday. There are so many food choices in the Hangar and around the Exchange it's hard to choose where to eat. We decided to have food inside the Hangar from Ike's Sandwiches, Jaybirds, Tenori and Tastea on the outside. The food was good as usual. The exchange has indoor and outdoor seating. There is a grass area and other places to sit around the exchange. It's a perfect place for people and dog watching. The ambiance in and outdoors is great. There are lots of food choices & plenty stores for shopping all around the exchange. There's even a Whole Foods available. Parking is plentiful all around the exchange. Saturday was a festival day so there were plenty vendor's available for unique shopping. The LBX Exchange is down the street from the Long Beach Regional Airport and has two nice hotels and other eateries including a Starbucks in about 5-7 minutes walking distance. The Exchange is a friendly and safe place to hangout. The Exchange is also kids and dog friendly. It's also a cool place for date nights. It's a fun place for all ages. LBX has something for literally everyone. A lot of thought, time and energy has gone into bringing the community together with outdoor events. I have had so much fun bringing my pups to pet events because not only do you meet fellow pet lovers, the pets socialize too. The 714market does it right in that I want to go booth by booth and hear the entrepreneur's story, and support them. Little Aviators kids program is a perfect for mid-week fun and education. Food-wise, I have been a huge fan of 908 since it opened and I'm obsessed with the fries from Jay Birds. read more

I like how this place has everything for everyone to enjoy. A small center stage for family entertainment, comfy chairs. International cusines from milk tea and boba, Korean, Japanese, American, Latino, Vietnamese, acai, ice cream, seafood and coffee. Exercise yoga and biking. It's a medley of shopping and dining located near the Long Beach Airport. The old hangar is where most of the eateries can be found, but you can find many more outside the surrounding area. It's been a while since I last came out here, so they might even have new places that have opened up. I went to Spavia once, where the masaages are heavenly. I like how there's lots of parking here, and the spots are easily accessible. I hate going to parking lots with tight spaces and corners. This is a good place to shop, eat, and drink with friends, family, or even solo. If you love ice cream, stop by Handel's. They serve up nice sized portions, and their many flavors rotate regularly. Truly seems to be an inviting spot for people of all ages, singles and families alike. Parking is tough but if you prepare yourself mentally for that in advance then you'll be fine. Long Beach Exchange has quickly become one of our favorite dinner destinations! My husband and I love visiting with our baby girl, and there's always something for everyone. The variety of dining options is fantastic. We especially enjoy The Kroft for their mouthwatering comfort food and the Oni Giri spot for musubi--perfect for a quick snack! Of course, we can't leave without grabbing a cold beer from Bottlecraft. Malcolm is the best bartender around, always friendly and ready to recommend the perfect beer. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it a great spot for families and friends alike. We can't recommend Long Beach Exchange enough. read more

My car was broken into near the Nordstrom rack. I asked security to help me out by possibly getting ahold of the security camera footage and they said no. What is the point of having security if they aren't going to keep the parking lots safe. read more

I've wanted to check out LBX since it first opened but never got the chance to until recently. It's a really nice addition to Long Beach and really reminds me of many of the other vibey food halls scattered throughout SoCal. Most of the same type of vendors are inside the food hall and it's a great spot for a family outing or just a small hangout with friends. Parking can be tight, so we recommend trying the PetSmart/Whole Foods lot instead. Overall experience here was good. It's certainly small, but a good enough size to walk our dog around and check out the different food venues and enjoy some live entertainment. read more

The good: I've been here a handful of times (mostly to come to Blue Bowl) and enjoy it every time! I like taking my toddler here because there's an outdoor space with turf where lots of kids like to run around. You can have an outdoor picnic here on the turf or sit in the outdoor seating area. It is super family friendly! There are also outdoor dining spots nearby here so the whole area is great for shopping and dining and spending an entire day. There are also seating options inside. There are seating areas in both the front and back of the complex. This is a trendy dining hall with a lot of yummy food options that are sure to please everyone. I've never had to wait in line for the restroom. The bad: The parking lot gets crowded. I often have to circle a few times to get a spot or I'll park across the street. The interesting: The space is designed to look like a hangar and reminds me a lot of similar trendy hangar-converted dining halls in the Denver area. read more

Fun fun fun! Love coming here! So much to do, good food, good drinks, good options all around. Lots of parking no matter where you are going. In particular all the business inside the exchange seem to be amazing options. Have yet to be disappointed with anything I've purchased. And if you have kids they have few locations with open turf area to sit around and let them run free. I've come here plenty and will continue to come! You will no be disappointed! I stumbled onto LBX on one of my restaurant searches in Long Beach. I had NO idea what it was, but the quick screen through made it interesting enough for me to bookmark. And then a Yelp perk brought me here which got me all worked up: I was so in the mood to explore this area. This place is HUGE with lots of places and eateries to checkout. There's Whole Foods, there are a bunch of restaurants, there's the Hangar (with many unique eats!) and then some. I got the chance to walk around a bit to see which places to hit for the next visit. I normally walk with my head held high, but plaques on the floor caught my eye. Lots of aeronautical history to read up in here. It really is interesting, boy Long Beach has come a long way and it's getting better and better. Parking isn't an issue if you come through for lunch. Can't speak about how it is later in the afternoon or weekends. There is plenty, though, from my last run. A couple of minutes away from the local Long Beach airport. Should you have an airport run up in here, this area might be a great stop for lunch, happy hour and/or dinner. I had a great solo run exploring the area. It's a nice, kind of small outdoor area of mostly different eateries with nice places to sit around, but if you're looking for good retail shopping, you'll be very disappointed. The retail stores are just stores we all have in our areas: Nordstrom Rack, Petsmart, Whole Foods, Old Navy, Ulta, etc. and various service places (credit union, cell phone place, UPS store, nail salon, etc.) No different retail stores/shops/boutiques at all. I guess more people will always eat over shop these days. I would have liked to browse/shop at some unique stores. The Hangar building itself has 13 eateries that are mostly different from the usual food courts. I tried food from three new places since it was my first time here and I don't see myself being over here really anymore. Also, tried a smoothie. I'm sure it's nice to sit around out there in the cool evening. read more

OVERALL The Long Beach Exchange is a massive plot of land near the LB airport for retail shopping and several dining options. It's a nice area with a few gems - a nice alternative compared to the same ol', same ol'. ENVIRONMENT Located at the northernmost part of Long Beach, LBX, as it is affectionately known as, is simple... Modern. Spacious. The buildings are spread out for the most part. Some places could be a trek in uncomfortable shoes. The Hangar is situated behind Whole Foods and serves as a mecca for about 20 additional foodie spots and like one retail shop. Lol. MY FAVORITE PART... The variety of restaurants. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... Exiting the LBX from the parking lot back out onto Lakewood Blvd can take a while with slow lights and timid drivers. PARKING There is ample free parking in most areas. SIDENOTE I have a question about this new idea that Yelp is allowing consumers to search for businesses who have a fully-vaccinated workforce and/or businesses that require proof of vaccination to enter said business... What about people who are strongly recommended by their health care professionals to NOT get the vaccines? Why is this all such a phenomenon now? It's amazing how these "preventive care" proofs were cared about only after COVID-19 came along. But did you wash your hands?? And do it well? Meanwhile, children who enter public education settings have been and are still required (with few exceptions) or strongly recommended to have updated immunization records for the following: hepatitis B, rotavirus, diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis, haemophilus influenzae type B, pneumococcal, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitus A, influenza, human papillomavirus, and meningococcal. That's one of very few entities that cared about proof of vaccinations prior to this coronavirus pandemic. Again, why now when all of these - especially the flu - have been problems for such a long time? Found this spot on IG and so glad we did! First night, we had a porchetta sandwich and the wagyu smash burger with some fries, garlic aioli and pineapple habanero ketchup from the Kroft. Delicious! Vegas doesn't have a good porchetta sandwich anymore since Lardo took it off their menu at the Cosmo. Had to come back a second time for the porchetta and decided to try another spot, the Plaid Sheep. Soooo good! I loved it so much and wanted to go back for a 3rd time but we weren't able to. Such a wonderful addition to the city of Long Beach! Yes there is a shopping center just a mile north on Lakewood Blvd called Lakewood Center. However, if you've visited Lakewood Center numerous times, it can get old even when stores inside the mall come and go. Long Beach Exchange (LBX), on the other hand, is another great hangout spot for those who frequent Lakewood Center, but are looking for a change in scenery. LBX is more modern-looking, and they even have (or had, at least during the pre-COVID-19 era) family-friendly activities from time to time! Located on the southwest corner of Lakewood & Carson, Long Beach Exchange (abbreviated LBX) opened its doors in April 2018 on what used to be a huge plot of dirt. Not all businesses that you see today, however, were present at the time. These businesses slowly trickled into LBX over the past 3 years, and there are still a few vacant spots for interested business owners to start a business there! The shopping center has a feel for an airport as you'll see signs of various airport codes while driving along. Somewhere at LBX, you will see a walkway that resembles an airport runway. That walkway (or runway) leads to The Hangar, a food court that has the look and feel of an aviation hangar. At the Hangar, you can find a myriad of eateries from Temakira to the Kroft to Blue Bowl to the just-recently-opened Morning Nights! Surely, there will be a restaurant there that will make your taste buds happy, but if not, there are still a handful of other restaurants at LBX outside of the Hangar like: Dunkin' Georgia's Restaurant Handel's Homemade Ice Cream In-N-Out MOD Pizza Panini Kabob Grill Plancha Latin Kitchen ReMix Kitchen Bar Silverlake Ramen Susiecakes Tastea The 908 Restaurant Wahoo's Fish Taco Not hungry? No problem! LBX has a handful of other stores all around the shopping center. You'll find department stores like TJ Maxx, ULTA Beauty, Old Navy, and Nordstrom Rack, the last of which relocated from Lakewood Center. In need of groceries or even a quick meal? Stop by Whole Foods and see what they've got! In need of pet supplies? Next door PetSmart will satisfy your pet's needs! Looking for a new mattress? Head to the other side of the parking lot and check out Sleep Number! Fitness buffs will surely want to check out LBX's offerings that may be of interest: Barre Attitude, GritCycle, Orangetheory, and Ra Yoga. Runners can check out Runners High for various running shoes & other apparel. I could go on, but then I'd be pretty much copying LBX's website at www.thelongbeachexchange.com, and I'd rather not do that. I just want to mention that whatever your interests are, there will surely be something at LBX for you! Who knows? Maybe you can do all of your one-stop shopping at LBX and treat yourself to one of 52,000 (okay, maybe not that many, but you get the idea) delicious dishes offered at LBX! If you want to stay up to date on anything and everything related to LBX, I recommend signing up for their email newsletter on their website. You'll get emails maybe once every two weeks with updates about the businesses there. They also have a blog on their website that they update every Tuesday and Thursday. The posts aren't really that long; you could probably read about 10 blog posts in the time it takes you to read this entire review from start to finish. Parking and driving around can be a bit of a pain, however. If there's a long line of cars trying to get out from McGowen onto Lakewood Blvd, you might have a difficult time getting out of the parking lot in front of Whole Foods. There are also angled parking spots along McGowen, which splits LBX in half. Good luck trying to get out of those spots if there's a ton of traffic on McGowen. On the flip side, if you want to visit one of the eateries just across from the Courtyard by Mariott, you can park your car by Sleep Number and walk south across the street, which is typically less busier than McGowen. Fun fact: On their website, you can see a pretty cool animation of what the shopping center looks like. That animation was made before LBX opened. However, there is something anachronistic in that video. The video assumed that Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) and the Hangar would be open at the same time. Unfortunately, OSH closed its doors late 2018, and the Hangar didn't open until the following year. read more

This is the new go-to hang out spot to enjoy both indoor and outdoor dining/shopping festivities as you peruse around the huge structure reminiscent of an aviation hangar home, hence the name. There's plenty of small artisanal food vendors with plenty of free parking lot spaces. I love the concept here because this is BETTER than Anaheim Packing District. You'll be able to find familiar names of shops that Anaheim Packing District has but more here. Bookmark this spot as your next go to visit. Face masks are optional and I see plenty of both masked and mask-less patrons roaming around. read more

I recently discovered this spot. The Long Beach Exchange is a great place to meet with friends and/or grab a bite. It is on the outskirts of Long Beach heading toward Lakewood. It's a relatively new development in Long Beach (3+ years) and has expanded over the past year with lots of new vendors, shops, and restaurants. Good news/bad news, depending on your thoughts on little kids running around. LOL. As a family man, I appreciated that there is a big patio area with lots of tables and a nice astroturf grassy just outside The Hangar food pavilion. It makes it easy to eat outside and gives Long Beach Exchange a relaxed, fun atmosphere. There's also Whole Foods to do some grocery shopping, Ulta, T.J. Maxx, Handel's ice cream, and many, many, more shopping options. Parking is free, which is always a plus! However, on my visit the area gets really packed and parking spots are a bit hard to find. People come and go though, so eventually everyone finds a parking spot. I highly recommend it as a meeting point when you have a hard time deciding what to eat or where to go! It's like I love this place but then I also don't. Parking sucks during the weekends especially in the main lot. I come here very often for Grit Cycle. I love the food options. But this is not a place that you can study or do work because one, it's very loud. It's been YEARS and they seriously need to figure out their wifi situation because it's terrible. The phone service is worse in certain areas. And what is the point of installing these outlets under the seats with USB ports if they don't even work? Get it together LBX! read more

I grew up in Cerritos but haven't been to LB for a few years since I no longer live in the area and the stupid pandemic has kept me away. Sometime over the last few years, this whole new development sprang up. LBX is really well done, a combination of new buildings complementing the old hangar from McDonnell Douglas days which now serves as the centerpiece and the Exchange's food hall. Watch for the cool landing strip striping which has been left in the pavement out front as another clue to the property's history. It's a busy place, especially on a nice day, but there's a ton of parking here if you don't mind walking a couple of extra minutes. read more

The short: LBX isn't sure what it is. Does it serve the community or the businesses in the area. Is it a fun place to be or a PITA to get in to with relatively poor parking. If you go there with modest expectations, this could be fun but I wouldn't go there for anything that couldn't be found elsewhere after 5. They need to sponsor a vibe friendly DJ or something to brighten the place up. The Exchange is a walk friendly -maybe walk demanding facility due to what seems like a low level of site parking- restaurant heavy mall. If you have a date/ meeting be prepared to walk a long way or hunt for a parking spot and allow time for that. Given what I know about the surrounding area and based on assumptions - with all that entails- the mall exists to service the work population in the "up-scale industrial" area surrounding. A friend of mine wanted to meet here for dinner. I have been to this area before but I thought all of the restaurants were outdoors and didn't realize there was a food court in a hangar. Most of the restaurants were closed except a couple so we chose a Korean BBQ place. Food was made fresh to order, a tad pricey but not too bad. I had a dish with tofu, veggies, and brown rice. It was fresh but did not have much flavor to it to be honest. Plenty of seating was available, mainly outdoors. There are a lot food halls popping up these days, but only a few of them are inside an airport hanger. Oh wait, zero are in a airport hanger. Ok, so the Long Beach Exchange is in a replica hangar, but space is awesome! The look is a mix of throw back, late 1960's aviation with a touch of modern sleekness. There are fourteen or fifteen food spots in here, but only nine are filled at the moment. Foodie roll call: Plaid Sheep GBC, Bottlecraft, Portola, Temakira, PopBar, Doner G, The Kroft, Bite Mi, Amorcito, Marinated, and more to come! The LBX hangar is also connected to huge shopping center so parking is pretty easy and if park in the middle, everything is just a short walk away; Whole Food, Susie's Cakes, and a few other eateries. Look, I could explain this place all day, but just get over and check it out for yourself. It's kid friendly! Pro Tip: LBX is literally next to the Long Beach airport. Brand spanking new to me! LBX is a great mix of retail in a clean and modern space with a large communal area, perfect for hanging out and enjoying live music. My cousin invited me to come with him to experience LBX on a Saturday. He told me the area is fairly quiet during the weekdays so he wanted to experience what a Saturday night would be like. Parking: pretty easy on an early Saturday evening. We arrived around 5:30 and were able to find parking easily. Vast variety of retail: The Exchange is SO convenient! You can shop at Wholefoods, TJMaxx, PetSmart, Nordstrom Rack, etc. Then you can grab a quick bite and a brew from The Hangar or enjoy a sit down at the other restaurants. I find this area to be pretty darn convenient - run errands and then meet friends for dinner after the errand run. As the night wore on, the place got pretty busy but not overwhelmingly crowded. Most of the tables were occupied but you could find a table without too much effort. All of the andorak chairs around the stage were all occupied by people and some folks brought out their own folding chairs to set up on the astroturf. It was nice to be able to enjoy some music outdoors with the cool ocean breeze, and check out some cute dogs. I wish I lived closer but this place is a definite repeat visit. read more

Love how close this place it is to my place and just a block away from LGB airport! The Hanger (An aviation interior) just opened that is located in the heart of LBX (Long Beach Exchange). The developers wanted the Hanger with four different points of view, thus you can enter and exit from many ways. BTW, the developers I believe are the same people who did the SoCo MIX in Costa Mesa. Speaking of the Hanger, all the shops are open from last week with the exception of Jaybirds who I didn't see. Love seeing BottleCraft with over 25 taps and, Amorcitos from Thomas Ortega, my favorite poutine place from the Kroft, and love the Bite mi concept. Of course there is also Portola (LOVE their coffee), Popbar (decorate your bar), and DonerG (mediterrean place). Have yet to try Temakira, Black Sheep, and Marinate. Of course, the anchor stores like 365 by Whole Foods is nearby and Susiecakes is across the street from the Hanger at LBX. This place has the Aviation theme here because McDonnell Douglas (MCD) as in this area from back in the day (Thus the hanger them). The 68 that's painted on the sidewalk stands for the number of employees when MCD first opened. Okay so enough history lesson, just come here and enjoy for yourself when you get the chance. I think this will be the next hotspot after Anaheim Packinghouse. 4 stars for now due to non-full tenant capacity. read more
