First of all, this review is directed at the employees, they have the best customer service. I would say that they are the #1 retail store that projects the best customer service. Their customer service is consistent, all of the employees greet you as soon as you enter the store, they check, if you need assistance, they will make you aware of the sales that are available and aren't pushy. They give to the time to browse which always leads to more shopping for me. Their interaction with you is so welcoming and pleasant. They treat you as if you're a guest in their own home. For the most part, I enjoy the Long Beach Towne Center. Via the 605 from Downey, it's particularly easy to travel to even in heavier traffic. Perhaps the worst part is the entire parking aspect: Navigating the silly access roads, waiting for slow (and I mean s.l.o.w.) pedestrians, and finding spots close to stores you actually like. This is such a pleasant shopping center! We enjoyed watching the children play in the fountain with "jumping water". There is also a jungle gym for the keiki. The other fountains are good for relaxation - just watch or close your eyes and listen. .. There's a huge theater, many shops, and restaurants! It's so clean and new, with wooden lounge chairs and metal tables and chairs for outdoor dining. The only improvements would be better traffic patterns and access. Exits and entrances were a bit congested. The outdoor fireplace was a cool feature! It had just been turned on as we were leaving in the late afternoon, but we didn't stay to feel the warmth... What can i say? I love the Long Beach Towne Center. I have been coming here for years and years. It is such a convenient place to come to off of the 605 freeway where the 405 meets. Well now, I take the 405 here since i live in Fountain Valley now. Which makes it cool for OC people to get here easily. So much to do here on weekends. You have the Casino next door if you want to get you gambling on at Hawaiian Gardens. Cool if your a teen and live in this area near the mall. I wish i had something like this growing up. read more

The Long Beach Towne Center is a large outdoor shopping plaza that I used to frequent on a fairly regular basis. They have a nice movie theatre, a cool arcade complete with laser tag as well as a plethora of businesses and fine restaurants to eat. The parking at the Long Beach Towne Center although large is far and away one of their biggest issues. There is plenty of parking but the layout of the parking and the various small lots throughout is terrible. There is no uniformity to the layout as each is structured differently and in can get confusing when driving through and looking for a spot. It always seems no matter where I am going I have to park in a distant lot and make the trek over. The shopping center itself is kept up well and the stores are all still occupied which is nice to see in these tough economic times. They have a good variety of food from BBQ, Peruvian, American, Mexican to smaller restaurants such as Panda Express, In & Out & Chik-Fil-A. The Towne Center does get busy at times during the weekend and evenings so I tend to go here during non-peak hours more often than not. Overall they have a good variety of stores ranging from high end to more casual stores. They have also recently added a play area for kids between the Theaters and Arcade. read more

But trying to get out after a summer movie is almost impossible. The Long Beach Towne Center is right near our home, so we are here semi-often. I would be here more if the design to get in and out wasn't so terrible. I don't know who the genius was behind the layout, but s/he should be fired and never allowed to design anything, anywhere, ever. There are cross-walks galore so if you want to get in/out quickly you shouldn't count on it because chances are you'll be waiting at one of said crosswalks. There is no easy flow of traffic in this shopping center. Terrible parking layout aside, there are quite a few shopping, dining, and entertainment choices here. There's the large Edward's theater in the center, a large 24-hr Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Old Navy, Michael's, Ross, Barnes & Noble, America's Tire, PetSmart, Party City, Sport Chalet, Performance Bicycle, Pier 1, Aaron Brothers, and a few others that I don't frequent. Food options: In N Out, Chick Fil A, Carl's Jr, Del Taco, TGIF, Lucille's BBQ, Roadhouse Grill, El Torito, Islands, Starbucks, Ben and Jerry's, and offerings in their food court close to the theater (PizzaRev is new, SuperMex, Wetzel's Pretzels, Panda Express, etc.). The nice thing about this center is that there is a lot of variety in the stores here, so ideally you could come here to get your artsy fartsy supplies from Michael's, stock up on fleece from Old Navy, cheap essentials from Wal Mart, and a quick lunch at Chick Fil A. Problem is, thanks to the poor design, you'll have to get in your car three times instead of being able to park once and walk to all your destinations. read more

Long Beach Towne Center is ghetto fabulous! Case in point #1: A while back we were waiting in line for one of the restaurant/club near the theater (the name escapes me, but it has changed names since) and there was armed security working the door. One guy in line decides he is going to mouth off and the next thing you know the security guard draws his gun and minutes later we have police, helicopters, spotlights and the whole bit. Good times. Case in point #2: More recently we went to see a movie at Edwards Theater and happened to notice the fountain nearby that had water spouting up from the ground. Then we notice 2-3 families with children, beach chairs and toys sitting nearby with the kids playing in the fountain. What is this world coming to? I know it's right next door to Hawaiian Garbage, but come'on. On top of all that, the parking lot is a logistical nightmare. It's best to enter/exit on Carson on the Wal-Mart side, because anywhere else be prepared to sit at stop signs waiting for pedestrians going back and forth. The food options are basically nasty chain restaurants, so take that for what it is. And the theater experience can be quite a nightmare with the long lines at the box office and the interesting crowd that this particular theater draws. So basically, Towne Center is a last resort destination. read more

I had never been to this shopping center before last night even though I ride past it several times a week when going up the 605. I'm not sure but I may never be back unless someone redesigns the layout of the parking lots. In fact, who ever designed and approved the layout should be shot. I'm glad a friend was driving because had I been behind the wheel, I would have lost my voice yelling obscenities because of the traffic (in a freakin' shopping center) and the idiots behind the wheel of the other cars. There's a one lane exit next to Chick Fil A which bottle necks because of the freeway on ramps. It took us more than a few minutes to leave the plaza and get back on the 605 South. From what I can recall, most of the places to eat that I could see were chains. Chains that I had been to in the past. Same goes for shopping. I know there are other locations of the stores I will want to go to in the future. Having said that, unless I'm obligated to, or I'm on my bike which is so much more maneuverable than a car, I'll go elsewhere to eat and shop. read more

The best thing about the Long Beach Town Center is the Edwards movie theater. The stores are pretty spread out, so if you get a little lazy like me, then be prepared to move your car in another parking spot unless you don't mind walking a far distance to get from one side to the other. I do enjoy the fact that there are several stores which are available at this town center that aren't available in Cerritos town center. The Barnes and Noble, Old Navy, and Sport Chalet are places that have a wide selection and reasonable prices. It is nice to know that there is a car wash available and many eateries/restaurants to indulge in. One star off for the somewhat far parking or lack of finding a good spot that is close to the place you want to go. Met up here with a friend because it was a central location to us. I have lived near Long Beach my whole life but had never heard of this place until that day. It was fairly easy to find but its parking lots are kind of weirdly structured. There's one center area with a food court and movie theater and some other restaurants. And then there's Lowes, B& N, and Michaels scattered around. Their food count had typical fast food things but they're still developing it so only two restaurants were actually open. The theater is Edwards Cinema. And there's also a little jungle gym type thing for little kids. This place isn't a typical place to meet and hang out with a friend. It's a great place for families or people who need to shop in the surrounding stores. Its similar to Bella Terra. read more

I am surprised that this town center has such a low overall rating of 2.5 stars (at the time of this review) because I really enjoyed coming here to do some shopping. There are a lot of great shops in this plaza like Michael's, Wal Mart, Petsmart, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, Bath & Body Works, Sam's Club & even an Edwards movie theater (there's a food court very close to the theater). I guess the majority of the complaints on yelp would have to be the parking. There is plenty of parking here, but sometimes you can't always park too close to one of the stores you may to shop at because the lot can get crowded. But it's not horrible and only a short walk, so that shouldn't really be an issue. Another thing that fellow yelpers are complaining about this place is probably about driving into this big town center. It does take a bit of time since there are several speed bumps you have to drive through in order to get to your destination, so that is probably a negative since it isn't like a fast drive in. But the speed bumps are there for your protection, so I don't really mind it too much. Overall, this is a great town center with plenty of shops to browse through, plenty of eateries here (although I'm not much of a fast food connoisseur). read more

Old Navy for the kids and stop by the nail shop for a pedicure and Sam's Club to do the big shopping that i need to do. Went to see a movie here. They couldn't get the movie to work. 20 minutes in, the manager comes in and informs us that they're working on it. 5 minutes later, he informs us they can't get it to work and would refund us the movie tickets. Not good - spent money and time to come out there. about 30 minutes to be told the movie isn't going to work and we will be refunded the movie cost. Nothing for our time, nothing for coming out and eating food at the Town Center. I don't care about the movie tickets. Why would I want movie tickets to come back to this place? Nothing about the experience of coming here was worth ever coming back. It's not that the movie didn't play, it's how it was handled. No apology, just that it's not going to work. Color me anything but impressed. This place is just like every other outdoor mall in so cal, a complete hot mess. Funky colored concrete, relaxed seating areas, a fountain, an f'd up parking lot, ohhh and nowhere that I am really interested in shopping at =( You have a food court with the same tired old options you have elsewhere. The parking lot is filled with the main chains you find everywhere else. The back of the lot has the super sized box stores that we all enjoy picking up things from for home improvement or whatnot. The theater is a monster version with 28 screens and a high price tag. Pro Tip: Arrive early for whatever you plan to do if you haven't been here so you can find a parking spot that otherwise is a mega PITA. I swear that this is the second worst designed parking lot I have ever been stuck in. Whoever the architect is running around creating parking lots for these large outdoor strip malls is, doesn't understand traffic flow. Or they simply want to trap patrons. I literally end up driving in circles before I can even get to a place that I can park at. Consequently, I ABSOLUTELY HATE PARKING HERE! IT IS AN EXAMPLE OF PARKING HELL. Hell I believe it reaches Dante's 7th level. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Furthermore the spaces are uber narrow. I am not sure why they seem to be made for cars a foot narrower than they really are. When LBTC first opened up, it gave all of us CTC teens a new place to chill. Back then, I thought it was the coolest - HUGE theater, cool eats, sprawling layout. Then I grew up and seemingly lost the youthful idealism. The place is HORRIBLE. Sure, when you're getting dropped off by your parents at age 16, you don't really realize how horrible the parking situation is, but now, at the age of 27, I realize it to the fullest extent. Honestly, there is no coherent plan to the parking lot, so it's like a giant maze to maneuver through. As if that wasn't bad enough, the pedestrians that cross every which way regardless of traffic makes plowing through a nightmare. I obviously don't go here often. But on Friday, I was in HB and a friend was in Cerritos, and we figured a decent halfway point to grab Starbucks was LBTC. So for the first time in years, I ventured to the actual "mall" part of LBTC (I sometimes do visit the Party City, Lucille's, Pier 1, B&N, and PetSmart on the periphery of the complex). WELL WELL WELL. After battling through stupid traffic for half an hour, I finally managed to find a distant parking space, took my dog out of the car, and moseyed over to Starbucks when... SECURITY: Ma'am, you can't have your dog here. ME: I'm just going to sit at the Starbucks patio. SECURITY: Sorry, ma'am. You can't have your dog here. ME: But it's outdoors. SECURITY: That's the rules, ma'am. ME: I've never had a problem taking my dog to any Starbucks! SECURITY: You can't. ME: So where CAN I take my dog? SECURITY: I'd try PetSmart. This is what happens when you put a poorly designed and laid out shopping center bordering 4 metro cities in Southern California (Long Beach, Cerritos, Lakewood and Hawaiian Gardens)... The parking problems alone make this place a nightmare to go to. Granted it's got a ton of good restaurants, a giant movie theater and some other giant shopping establishments...but it's just not worth dealing with the lack of parking, crowds of unruly people and the overall frustration of being here. We go here on occasion as they have some stores that we like and the SAMs club gas that I use all the time. The arrangement within is not terrible and the selection of stores is very nice. My primary gripe when going here is the horrible manner that they laid out the parking and the roads to get in and out. They put crosswalks in from of the cars without lights so people just sporadically cross and keep the cars waiting. When the cars can go, the outlets are too clogged up so there is a line and the greediest of cars that just waited for the pedestrians to move from are sticking out in the middle further clogging up the intersections. This is probably the most poorly designed "shopping" center I've seen. It seems to be a giant circle, with the shops on the outside, parking inside. It's incredibly difficult to walk around because you're constantly dodging cars who are looking for parking. If you're at the food court and want to go to say.. Old Navy, you can either walk around the entire perimeter of the place (which is probably almost a mile), or you can cut across the huge parking lot and risk your life dodging giant SUV's. The stores here are standard shopping center stores.. they're nothing like you'd find at an "entertainment" center like Irvine Spectrum or something similar. There's Walmart, Sam's Club, Old Navy, Staples, Barnes and Noble, Michaels, Bath and Body Works, Payless, Justice, Ross... the Edwards movie theater, Chick-fil-a, Lucille's, a food court. I think my favorite part was the kiosk cart selling fake Chanel and Coach purses. I recently met my friend here for lunch. After we were almost run down by a speeding car, we had lunch and tried to shop. The stores absolutely suck. They have the worst merchandise. It's like the corporate offices of these stores know how much LBTC sucks so they don't send them new items. I didn't buy anything which is completely abnormal for me.
