Went to Lone Wolf to catch up with a friend and try out a bar we'd never been to before. It's in the West Loop neighborhood steps away from well-known Au Cheval. Arrived at Lone Wolf around 8:30p on a Saturday night with a girlfriend and we snagged the last 2 open seats at the bar. There are booths to sit in and we were told to "sit anywhere" so I'm sure that can get hectic quickly. The bar could probably seat 25-30 people and there were at least 3 bartenders moving around the bar at all times. We were served quickly (El Diablo & Hibiscus Mexcal-Rita) and spent maybe 1.5 hours at the location total. Bartenders became difficult to grab their attention as the night went on, but it didn't dampen our night. There were plenty of medium sized tv's with the baseball game on and overall it was a great evening. I may come back a bit earlier in the night as the standing room around the bar became a bit much. read more

Went here to grab some drinks while we waited for a table at au cheval. Great beer selection and the bar tender made a great old fashioned. Only down side is, there is so much space and not that many table/seating areas. We were standing for a while until we grabbed a seat at the bar. read more

If you can get a seat, keep that seat! From what I've been told, Lone Wolf is the green room to the spotlight dining shows along Fulton Market, and it is a fantastic place to pass the time. But it's a bit crowded, and hard to find a coveted seat at a booth on a particularly cold Friday night, and it's a bit loud. Or I'm just a bit old and creaky. Anyway, it's much better to enjoy some drinks from a booth and catch some conversation over standing in the cavernous place sweating in your down coat and lugging around your big work tote. read more

Just a typical, dark bar. We came here for a quick beer as we waited to be seated at Au Cheval. They had about 8 beers rotating and a few bottles, as well as a stocked bar. They had a bunch of Three Floyd's on draft which was nice, but nothing overly remarkable about Lone Wolf. read more

I never post reviews. Like NEVER. But this one is personal. Once upon a time I loved this place. It was a combo of funky dive bar and neighborhood bar. The new management is attempting to make this into something it's not. There is now an unfortunate "PC" vibe in the air. Gone is the place "where everybody knows your name." The great bartenders who used to be here are no longer here. This was my go-to bar. Past tense. I won't be back. read more

For a beer bar, not the best selection beer. Do love all the three floyds though. Fun atmosphere and good bartenders.

Pretty good and has found it's groove. Good place for drink with friends

It is obvious the second you get anywhere near here, that people love this bar. They have a nice little patio area in the front of it for you to enjoy a beer or food outside, which I love. The inside is like like you stepped into something that isn't quite as nice as stuff you see on Mad Men, but it is up there. Still feels a little dive like, but they have nice booths and things, so a cool vibe for hanging out for a drink or two. But all of that being positives, I didn't really see what set this bar apart from other bars? For the West Loop area there aren't a ton of places that operate just as a place for drinks really, so the Lone Wolf definitely has some great real estate for that purpose. And I do love drinking outside, so if there are some stools available when you get there, you should grab them quick since I've found the outside fills up faster than the inside. There aren't a ton of beers on tap, but if you like Three Floyds Brewing, they also have a few of those on their rotation. $12 nice cocktails isn't cheap either, but you know for the west loop you are going to pay those prices anyway and draft beers are $7 too so not the cheapest there either. But like I said, a cool spot to hang out in, and for that area there aren't many other spots just to grab a drink, so Lone Wolf, you are a smart canine for that! read more

This lone wolf likes the Lone Wolf. Big time. Mostly because of the neon wolf head out front, and the swank interior, and the name. I enjoyed my cocktail, the Wolf Point Swizzle, albeit the cocker was on the sweet side. The short menu of appetizers and savory pies sounded really good, and I hope to try the food on a future visit. read more

Awesome place for drinks, with lots of Bourbon on the menu and, they have 3 Floyds on tap! It's quite dark in here and it's really loud, but it's a great place for a few drinks. There are TV's all around so you can catch your favorite Chicago sports team on TV while you drink a few. read more

Nice, spacious bar with a great location. This is a great place to hang out with a group of friends. Drinks were good. Scotch egg was the best version I have ever tried. We will return! read more

Our bartender gave us the wrong drink and the security guard David fixed it for us no problem on a busy Saturday night!!! Awesome guy- that's why I'm giving it 5 stars read more

Actually awful. A large group of us walked up ready to spend a night of fun and the bouncer was so rude and unwelcoming and tried telling us we couldn't come in because of random excuses. We were the only ones in line and clearly they were just trying to make it look busy and the bouncer had a complex of being in charge. I would definitely not recommend this place for a group of ppl trying to have any kind of fun. This bar has potential but the people clearly don't follow through with any kind of people friendly customer service. Will never go back and hope others don't suffer the same. read more

So yeah, the cocktails are good, and the draught list is decent. Actually, the sign outside is pretty original and badass, too. However, part of me says they are trying wayyyy too hard! It's almost as if the place is trying to emulate a little hipster dive from, say, Logan Square, and just transplanting it into the heart of West Loop's Restaurant Row to make it "trendy." And I hate "trendy." The prices here are way too high, but they get away with it, because there is usually room in here to grab a drink while waiting for places with long waits such as Au Cheval, Green Street Smoked Meats, Goat restaurants, or Publican. Also, too loud inside. The place isn't bad for a few drinks, but I prefer Heisler's other locations (Sportsman's, Barrelhouse Flat, Bangers & Lace). read more

Excellent drinks, awesome bartender who made great suggestions for beer and drinks. Was waiting for Au Cheval. Would defaintely come back!

This is a good place to stop before or after dinner in the neighborhood. They have an interesting selection of beers from Three Floyds and others. Prices are reasonable, given the area. Service was friendly and relatively quick. The atmosphere is pretty no frills, but looks refined. I'll definitely come by next time I am in the area. read more

Really cool place to have a drink with a group. We stopped in around 7, immediately got a table, and drank the next hour away. The cucumber sgroppino is by far the best, and the meat pies were good, but not amazing. Nice open atmosphere with plenty of seating and not too loud either. read more

Loved this place. Came here a couple months after opening on a Saturday early afternoon (~1pm) after being recommended by some folks at the Publican, where we had brunch. We intended on coming just to have a couple Zombie Dusts (which are always on draft!!!) but ended up staying for over 4 hrs. Maybe we just got a special experience because there weren't many people in the bar, but the bartenders were exceptional. We were able to sample the different beers they had on tap before deciding what we wanted to drink and the bartender essentially gave us a bartending lesson on flaming citrus peels, what goes with various types of less-familiar liquers, etc. Super friendly people, great beers. Been back a couple times since then and have had just as great of a time. read more

The best bar to hang out at while you are waiting for a table at one of the many restaurants on Randolph. Laid back atmosphere and great whiskey. If you are in the mood for a snack, definitely try the scotch egg. It's one of the best I've ever had. read more

This is the place I hit when I'm either waiting to sit down at one of the resturaunts on Randolph or I go here after I'm done with dinner at one of them. The bar is built out like a 50's bar on the outside, very authentic. Inside is spacious and well laid out with the bar in the middle. Solid cocktails and a decent beer list make this a decent bar to start or end you night at. I've had the deserts and they are pretty decent. Cannot comment on the food. read more

One of the fanciest classiest hipster dive bars you will set foot in. Get the #1 drink.....who am I kidding....Get a few of the #1. read more

Stopped in for a drink while waiting for a table at Au Cheval next door. The bartender was welcoming and nice. He gave me a taste of their sorbet and prosecco drink concoction. It was delicious, so I ordered one and my date got a bloody mary. The bartender chatted with us for a little while and was overall very knowledgeable about alcohol and bars. Definitely not what I was expecting from a bar called Lone Wolf. I was actually sad our table was ready so quickly. I'll have to try them out again. read more

We've been here a few times waiting for Au Cheval or Little Goat. They offer solid Sgroppino cocktails, which is great for pre-dinner. They also feature Three Floyd's staples, which is always a good thing. The food will satisfy any savory meat pie cravings you may have. I like this place because it's convenient, I dig their beer selection, and it's comfortable. On the weekdays, it's mostly an after work crowd. Late night crowd gets kinda loud so avoid shouting and sit closer to your date. read more

We went on Saturday for a drink. Nice little bar. Very casual for the area. Staff is friendly, drinks were good. We didn't try any food, but the menu looked good. It was pretty busy, but we still were able to get a seat at the bar. I'll be back. read more

Such a great, relaxed bar to head into while waiting for Au Cheval or any other restaurant in the area! Came in for the first time last night and I can honestly say it's my new favorite spot on Randolph! No tv's, great drink list, nice wait staff who don't pester you and cozy booths. Imagine it may get crowded on weekends but still a great addition to the block. Another plus? They can make any drink you request- massive selection of spirits :) read more

"So is a sgroppino like an alcoholic float, but instead of ice cream, sorbet?" The waitress appeared offended I should ask such a question and quickly told me no! Welp, yes...yes it is Yelpers. I had the tequila/strawberry one and it was deliciousssss! I can imagine it being that much better though when it's sunny and warm outside and you need a refreshing drink. Anywho, I love Three Floyds and really dug the signs outside. Would like to come back to try one of the pleasant house pies without making the trek to Bridgeport. read more

Decent service. Awesome 3 Floyd's on tap and awesomer Pleasant House pasties here! Get the mushroom kale pie.

Was recommended to check out this bar by our waitress at Girl and the Goat. Very spacious bar with solid bartenders. Drinks were good and the service was consistently good. The crowd was a good balance of guys and girls, but lacked the ethnic diversity you normally see in Chicago. Nevertheless, it was a fun night for my friends and I since we had spend the previous nights in mostly tourist areas. It was a good change of pace to hang out with the local crowds. Would definitely come back again. read more

Cool bar, good selection, but there's nothing incredibly special about it. It is a great place to grab a drink while waiting for a table next door at Au Cheval. read more

Lone Wolf is great if you like dark bars with a cool vintage feel. In my experience, it's not so great if you were looking to get served quickly. Everyone who works there has a counter culture-esque vibe about them, which led my friend and I to create a game in which we judged people based on whether they looked cool enough to be served at the lone wolf. read more

This is one of my favorites, mostly because they always have 3 Floyds on tap. Not necessarily a destination but great if you are in the neighborhood. read more

This is the best bar on that stretch of Randolph. They have an awesome drink selection, the bartenders are nice, and it's pretty lively. They do a solid old fashioned (although a little sweet). It's slightly on the hipsterish side. read more

A great spot for late night eats! Kitchen closes at 1. I always love the cheesy fries!

Nice bourbons, decent cocktails and beer, great music, best Chicago dog, good location. I'm a fan and would add this to my regular bar hangouts. read more

Great staff, drinks and ambience.. As a west looper, it's good to see quality, diverse establishments..

So we popped in here while waiting for our table at Au Cheval. The bartender was so engaging and friendly. He let us sample all of the beer on tap and was very knowledgeable about every one. He shot the shit with us and talked for about a half an hour. I wish I would have gotten his name to give him a shout out. We found ourselves in the area that same night and decided we would stop in since our experience was so great earlier. The scene had totally changed. It was ridiculously crowded with no one over the age of 25. Now a few years ago I wouldn't have minded it, but I run like hell from places like that because I am getting fucking old and it sucks. read more

I really liked Lone Wolf. The outside makes this place look like a dive bar without any personality, but once you get in, its not what you think! Great vintage/craftsman bar and decor. I had the old fashioned and it was fabulous. Relaxed atmosphere. Great place to wait for your Au Cheval reservation. read more

Do yourself a favor and try the cheese fries from here. Amaze balls. This is a chill bar gets packed, good drinks. But the cheese fries are cheesy spicy deliciousness. Get them and enjoy. read more

Gumballhead! Ill come back here! Four beers from three floyds on tap, plus a wide variety of others. Good cocktail list, including Rye N Gosling. Food selection is limited, meat pies and bar snacks like rarebit. read more
