Lone Wolf is a great find. Came here for some drinks before dining at Blackbird. Found a couple of seats at the bar and had great service the whole time. It seems like a great place for the post work happy hour crew, but I didn't feel too out of place even though I was dressed up. Cocktail list is great. I tried the Strawberry Sgroppino which was insanely good and I think it was meant for me. Prosecco, strawberry hibiscus sorbet, tequila. Yes. Husband got some good beers as they have a great rotating draft list. Ambiance is probably my favorite thing about Lone Wolf: huge room with a big bar in the middle and cozy booths and tables all around the edge. Service was great too. Will definitely be back. read more

I like Lone Wolf. It's like a neighborhood bar in an area where you wouldn't expect one and, aside from the fact that the sort of banquette tables seats don't decline AT ALL, I don't have any complaints. I know that seems like a really nitpick thing to mention, but have you ever sat on a chair that had 0 degree of decline on the chairback? Not the most comfortable...10-15° of decline are about right. Try eating at El Barco on Ashland. They also have 0° chairs. It's.....ugh. Anyway. Enough about the ergonomics of sitting... I like Lone Wolf. I have nothing but fond memories here. I spent NYE '16 here, and we were seated at the bar all night long getting drunk and eating corn dogs. My friend got a free hat. I sadly had to pay for mine, but it's a cool hat. It's just a plain black SnapBack with the Lone Wolf logo on the front. And more recently, I've gone to Lone Wolf as a post dinner destination, just a few doors down from Little Goat. We had a 530pm dinner res at Little Goat so coming to Lone Wolf after got us in around 745...perfect timing to avoid the 10pm rush. I expected the place to be half empty that early, but it was actually quite full considering the early hour. There were a couple of booths available to choose from and we settled right in. We mostly ordered our drinks from the bar and just carried them back to the table, and by we, I mean she. I got dinner, so the drinks were on her. I feel like all I drank were dessert drinks- frozen hot chocolate, Irish coffees, they made sense having them all together, and at some point, I did have a beer. But I remember before I got too inebriated, thinking man, these drinks are delicious! She was ordering and sticking to the agave based cocktails. See my review on Little Goat for my take on mezcal. Anyway, I didn't want to mix so I mostly shied away from her drinks, and at one point her drink was just a glass of mezcal and a can of LaCroix. She topped her mezcal with the LaCroix and said it didn't taste that good. I told her, maybe you were just supposed to sip the mezcal, and chase with the LaCroix? She said that probably would have been a better idea. If you order that drink, let me know how you do it. We shared our table with some friendly patrons throughout the night, because we did feel a little guilty cozying up in this ginormous table that easily fit 5. And that was perfectly fine...we made the friendly small talk at the beginning of their joining, and then they let us get back to just doing us. I also like that Lone Wolf isn't filled with a bunch of douchebags. That makes for a winner in my book. Nothing but good memories here. I'll always hold Lone Wolf in high regard, at least until they prove me otherwise. Oh, and they played The Black Keys all night long, so big ups to that. read more

This place is reminiscent of a 40 year old's bachelor pad. I don't know if it's the decor, the crowd that night or the choice of drinks. They have some drinks you may have heard of but others seem to be specialty. When we asked for Crown, the bartender (who was extremely knowledgable) said they didn't have it. He recommended something similar which my husband really liked anyway. read more

I went to Lone Wolf for the first time earlier this week. I went with a friend and we were waiting for our table at Au Chavel next door. For 7pm on a Wednesday night this place was packed but we managed to snag 2 chairs at the bar. We were greeted by the bartender immediately and perused the beer list for something new to try. The paper beer list was short however there was a board on the wall with a slew of Three Floyd's options. I immediately picked the Zombie Dust given that it is not widely distributed in the Chicago area and you can't find a 6 pack at Binny's to save your life. Our drinks came quickly and we were left to people watch and chat while waiting for our table next door. As for the bar itself, looking at this place from the street you'd be relatively unimpressed and expect them to serve stale popcorn and cheap domestic beer. The glass block window facing the street hints at a sleepy small town bar within or even a VFW, post office, etc. However, when you walk in you're greeted by a huge space with booths around the perimeter and a large bar in the center. The crowd was mostly a younger, just-left-the-office sorta crowd making for a relatively friendly environment. The service was prompt, polite, and easy going. This is my kinda bar. All in all, great experience! I have heard they have decent bar food too! Maybe I'll try some the next time I go. 4 Stars. read more

A little divy but in a good way. They have a small beer and drink list but what they do have is great. I've always had great service, even when it's really busy. This is a good place to go to if you're wanting to get drinks before or after having dinner at a nearby restaurant. read more

A throwback or a pseudo-dive bar on Randolph. How divey can a bar get on Randolph? Probably not much but it does try! Decent place to grab drinks with friends. With many other places around the area, I'm not necessarily clamoring to go to Lone Wolf. It's one of those places where if you have good company, you'll still have good time. Though that can be said with many other better destination places in the West Loop. read more

Love this little neighborhood bar! Big fan of Three Floyd's and was happy to have received this recommendation from a friend. Although a busy and typically crowded joint, the vibe is relaxed, the bartenders are friendly, and the service is good! solid bar that sits right across the street from the girl & the goat. great place to grab a drink before or after your dinner. since i ate at girl & goat, i didn't eat at lone wolf. great beer selection and strong drinks in a comfortable bar setting. excellent service. small patio on front of building, enter in center and the square bar is on the back wall with stools on three sides. between the front door and the bar are long booths with small rounded tables and regular chairs on the other side. padded black leather half-circle booths (the people in the middle have to slide in) on east & west walls. the bar itself is a light wood with protective finish with a large rounded rail. box footrest and padded stools with no back support. "bar back" is well done given the center space. includes tilted mirrors and lit bottle shelves. beautiful wooden floor. on each side of the entrance are two sets of glass, lower opaque blocks that don't allow much natural light and rectangular windows on the top (with the lone wolf name) that do let in sunlight on a sunny afternoon. perfect for day drinking and also nice after the sun goes down since the street lights shine thru. fun place with good service & beer selection. read more

Awesome ambiance. It feels like you walked straight into a bar from the 70s. Love the layout, lighting and the vibe. Great cocktails - the margarita was strong, tangy and just delicious. Great beer list. The people. Such an interesting mix...from business people, to tourists and hipsters. The only thing missing is the pool table and board games. read more

I have been here four times, primarily because I am a big fan of Three Floyds. I do want to like it, but I always feel as if the bartenders are surly and not overly friendly. I am not looking for Sam Malone-types, but they should at least try to engage if they are asked questions. I will still come in, but I will be sure to bring company to talk with. read more

Lone Wolf is a very cool bar along Randolph, perfect to head into to grab a beer or cocktail while waiting for a table to open up somewhere. They are affiliated with Three Floyd's so they carry a lot of their products, which is great. The cocktail list leaves a bit to be desired, but they have a fantastic beer selection. We were able to sit at the bar on a Wednesday afternoon at 6, so it's good to know it doesn't get crazy crowded. 82/365 read more

Review for drinks only. Came here because I love the idea of sorbet in alcoholic drinks... yum. The cocktail that I got (the no.1) was excellent. However.... it took so long for us to get service that we almost left without getting a drink. Our server didn't even appear outside for the first 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure her section included the entire patio and most of the inside tables too. She was very friendly and nice when we occasionally saw her, but it was Friday, completely packed, and they should have had more staff. I might be back on a quieter night to try other drinks, but maybe not with the other options in the area. read more

3.5!! Came here by chance . Got Into a finder bender and was in need for a serious drink . This place is like an upscale college dive bar . The wait wasn't too bad, but I was long . Now, being one of the only few people of color there , my friends and I felt comfortable . The bar tender was pretty cool and helpful . I would go again, just in a larger crowd of people . Other than that , it was cool. Drinks were strong too! read more

Can I love a place that I have only been to once? Thats the only reason that they didnt get 5 stars from me, I need to go back and confirm my love of Lone Wolf. Which I will do. This week. I went with some friends for a quick drink while we were waiting for a table at Little Goat. Waitress was very chill, but still friendly. And, hello, multiple 3 Floyds brews on tap. Yes please. Environment is low key, but classy at the same time. Beer selection impressive. Wait staff quick and friendly. I will be going back this week for another drink. Definitely have a new favorite spot in the neighborhood. read more

What a scam! If you value your money and your whiskey dont go to this bar. I have an appreciation for whiskey, especially good whiskey, so when I saw that they had three bottles of Pappy Van Winkles behind the bar I got excited. Pappys is hard to find and when its available I treat myself to a pour. I decided upon the 20 year at $60 a pour. I should have know something was up when the bar tender would not pour it in front of me. The first sip I had and I knew they had filled the bottle with some second rate whiskey. Of course I had no way of proving this but as I said I appreciate a fine whiskey and ive had Pappys many times in the past. This was not Pappys. Its sad that a bar would be willing to put their reputation on the line just to scam their patrons for a couple of extra bucks. Ill never go back and I suggest you dont either. read more

Head to the Lone Wolf if you're craving a 3-Floyds, especially Zombie Dust, as it's relatively hard to find throughout the city. If you're looking for a huge draft list or a place to watch the game, head somewhere else. They only have about four pretty small (~28") TV's above the bar, and it makes it difficult to see any of the action on a game that's going on, but if you want to hang out and actually talk to your compatriots, then it's a non-issue. There are only about 8 beers on draft that run $6+. Not terrible for Chicago, but not the best either. Mid-afternoon on a Saturday wasn't that crowded at all, with seating still available. If you're waiting for Au Cheval, it's very convenient, and a good place for a quick drink or two. read more

Went here while waiting for Au Cheval, I was lured in by the 3 Floyds sign. Neat feeling bar that serves a decent selection of 3F beer and cocktails. A little overpriced but what isn't in the West Loop. We ordered the cheesy fries just as a snack and they were very spicy! Sad that this place is probably best known for being the bar next to Au Cheval. read more

This was my first time checking out Lone Wolf. I'm a West Looper and have been making my way down Randolph. This bar stands out because it doesn't have the typical west-loop posh vibe you'd expect to see. Ladies in gentlemen, if you're looking for the most divey bar in West Loop, Lone Wolf has got you covered. It has a similar vibe to Money Gun if you've been there. Kinda grungy, kinda dark and divey. Honestly this isn't really my scene. I'll admit I'm kind of boojie. But I could appreciate their drinks. I had the Two Wheeled Zamboni: Hanks Vodka, Campari, Lemon, Sparkling Wine. It cost $12. The drink was good, I enjoyed it and drank it fast. I don't see myself coming back here to hangout again though. It's just not my scene. If this is yours you'll probably enjoy it more than I did. read more

Disgustingly dirty bar that serves overpriced crappy liquor with rude service. Doesn't that make you want to get a drink here? I had a girlfriend in town from NYC and we had dinner nearby and wanted to grab a drink. We found seats at the bar, which should have been a clue since it was Saturday night. We ordered drinks. I ordered a vodka pineapple. The vodka they used was terrible, so I asked for some grenadine to mask the flavor of the vodka that tasted like rubbing alcohol. The bartender then decided to belittle me and tell me I just didn't like liquor and "they only serve the best". I asked him what type of vodka it was and he pulled out a plastic bottle of Hank's and said it was equivalent to Tito's. I had to google Hank's since I hadn't heard of it. Apparently the plastic bottle of Hank's retails for $11, definitely not the best. I couldn't even choke down my drink after paying $10 for it. Other people were trying to bring their drinks back too, so I knew it wasn't just me. I saw people being back drafts saying it tasted off.l, so I am guessing the taps need a good cleaning. We left and I will not be returning. read more

This place is kinda magical. PIcture your favorite dive bar. Close your eyes, travel back in time 40 years -- now open your eyes. Welcome to the Lone Wolf. Well...sort of. Cocktails are solid (not divey). Staff seem somewhat inexperienced on the days I've been, but they're nice and make their house drinks well. Ordering straight or rocks whisky gets a little pricey and the pours are very light (not divey). The place does not smell or have a strange musty air quality ... which is good (not divey). They have a little awkward front seating area for nicer days (kinda divey). They are big into Three Floyds and have a pretty large assortment of their beers. I get the feeling they carry some exclusive ones as well (not divey). They do offer some flagship divey beers for a cheaper price ... $4 schlitz cans (kinda divey). Oh and ... bathrooms are clean (not divey). I was hungry for a snack when I was there as well, so me and a friend ordered a couple of the meat pies. This is probably one of the highpoints of this joint. They were delicious. Steak & Ale pie (they are from Pleasant House Bakery) was perfect flaky buttery crust and savory goodness inside. All in all, the divey-ness of the place is more irrelevant than anything else, but you'll see what I mean should you ever be around the west loop, where there aren't very many interesting bars on that strip of Randolph. read more

I don't totally see the hype but my friends love it so i end up here a lot. Pretty cheap if you need a deal in the west loop- as long as there's no line. Music and vibe is decent- feels a little like wicker/ Logan. read more

Lone Wolf - Cheap beer, vibey vibes - Bars Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

From what I understand as someone who's not from Chicago, the Lone Wolf is known to be a place that people can drink at while they wait for a table at Au Cheval. I fortunately do not have to wait for a table at Au Cheval, but I have pre gamed here before going to Duck Duck Goat. I really like the low key atmosphere this place has to offer. I feel like it's the kind of place you want to go to after a hard day at work, yet also a place you can go to for a celebration. They have a nice variety of beers on tap, but what really interested me was the number of 3 Floyds on tap. If you're not from Chicago and love good beer, 3 Floyds is some seriously good beer. The prices aren't too unreasonable and it's service was pretty good for a bar. read more

I was at Lone Wolf last night enjoying beers with friends and I left to go to the restroom in the basement (they have additional women's restrooms downstairs) I was gone for approximately 5-10 minutes and when I came back upstairs one of the bartenders loudly said, "I was wondering which dumb wh*re had left their sh*t there."I turned around and said, "Excuse me?" To which he responded AGAIN with, "I couldn't tell if it was the dumb wh*res sitting beside you that left their sh*t or if it was you." I'm a long time customer of Lone Wolf and have a great rapport with the bartenders but I am appalled that a bartender would EVER speak to a paying customer that way. I will not be going back. read more

Have loved coming here until tonight. We even came here and brought our friends right after getting engaged in Feb 2020 and have come often since. Clearly some elitist bs is going on now and they think they don't need the business. We came in with a group for a friends birthday. To be quick and easy, my husband asked for seltzers for the group to which the bartender said they didn't have any... all good no problem. He pushed the QR code menu towards us. We immediately just chose vodka sodas, jamo ginger and my husband waited and re-ordered. Then he asked for any ipa for himself. The bartender pointed to the chalkboard sign on the wall and angrily said "there's a menu" and pointed to the wall. My husband who is literally half blind and disabled (not that the bartender would know) said he couldn't read it and he aggressively pushed the qr code menu at him and said "that's why we have menus". My husband said well I thought I could ask you, the bartender what ipas you had and he responded that he was too busy and again slammed the menu down. They have like 4 ipas, and in that amount of time could've just verbalized them, but instead he had to be an asshole and prove his point to tell us to pull up the QR code and read a menu. We said we were leaving and he yelled to the doorman that we were kicked out. I laughed and said yeah we were already leaving... so our whole group left so this bartender could have his day in the sun with his menus. I was a bartender for a decade and never would yell at someone to read vs telling them the 4 options at hand. To the blonde, mustached bartender with his shirt buttoned down to his bellybutton who thinks he's better than everyone, I'm glad you have your eyesight. read more

A much needed new unpretentious addition to the West Loop-Restaurant Row area. The dimly lit bar has nice cozy booths for enjoying your custom drinks and the snacky food items I tried like the Scotch Egg was tasty. The draft beer list is small but suffices for different types of beer tastes. By no means is this a restaurant bar, it's more of a casual place to grab drinks after a West Loop meal or while your waiting to get into one of the pack establishments on Restaurant Row. It's a great place to meet up and have a couple libations while deciding what the next destination will be. As stated earlier a welcome addition that won't bust your wallet like most of the other West Loop places. read more

Had to fire up my stale Yelp account to get this off my chest.. This place could be great -- that area needs a place that's a bar first and a restaurant second. I went there yesterday and despite it being St. Patty's day, it wasn't that crowded. I was there for about 2 hours and had a total of 2 beers. I was initially with a large group that whittled down to just three of us. I was drinking my beer slowly because I wanted to order some food. I had to flag down the bartender, who seemed more interested in stopping to drink her coffee every 30 seconds than to acknowledge my direct eye contact and gestures that I had a question -- that I would like to see a food menu. Finally, when two new friends arrived and clearly needed drinks she found it in her heart to stop by and after they ordered their drinks, I asked very clearly for a "food menu" to make it clear that I was going to want to order something to eat. After about 25 minutes of watching her drink her coffee and walk by doing the "no eye contact" thing that bartenders do, despite the bar being only about 30% full, I was ready to leave. But my friend who is less tolerant of that kind of bullsh*t piped up and stopped the barback to ask if we could order from him (for me). Thankfully, the barback said "yea, it's really slow right now, I can take your order" while, I'm not making this up, the female bartender was standing in the corner sipping on her coffee. I would have rathered just closed-out and left, but who knows how long that would have taken. The food came out, I inhaled it (it was that toast thing and it was somehow cold by the time I got it anyways) and basically stood up and over the bar to stop the male bartender so I could get my tab and get the hell out of there. I've never been so annoyed with a bar/bartender because usually the circumstances are to blame (busy night, shitty crowd, etc. etc.) but there was no excuse here. I've read some of the other reviews and it seems I'm not the only one who has found this to be the case here. I can get good 3floyds beers pretty much anywhere in Chicago.. If this place wants to survive, they may want to consider re-staffing the bar. read more
