Walked in on a recent weekday afternoon and it was near empty. The bartender was attentive and friendly. They quickly took my drink order and brought the fresh house made tortilla chips and salsa. It has been 10+ years since I'd been to a lone star so I figured I would go for nostalgia. The chips and salsa were exactly as I remembered chips are warm and crispy, salsa light and tasty. Sadly the bowls are smaller and they didn't offer to refill. We ordered steak and chicken fajitas for two. Good quality meat very tasty and of course sizzling hot as it arrived. As has always been the case not enough tortillas for all the stuff we had to order more. Second batch came with 3 tortillas even though we are a party of two. LoL third tortilla order was for a single tortilla. Go figure. Sadly only a small bit of rice and no beans I used to love those beans! Haven't been to Lone Star yet since it opened, but last night I had the opportunity to as I went with a bunch of friends from work. We had made a reservation and were seated right away when we walked in. We were greeted with the door being opened for us, and a greeting from the hostess in the front area, and we were also told where the washrooms were located as well. Our waitress came around and asked for our drink orders, informed us of the drink special of the day and was very accommodating to us as we were waiting on a few more to show up. Brought out the complimentary chips and salsa for us to share as we browsed the menu. I ended up going with the Fork & Knife Burrito, minus the cilantro, others around me ordered the Chicken Fajitas and some burgers, our meals came out in good time too, pipping hot! The burrito tasted good, it was a bit spicy, but I asked for some extra sour cream on the side, which came out right away. Everyone was on the ball with making sure we had everything we needed. The service was great, the prices for everything is bit on the more expensive side of things, for one meal & a drink from the bar, it was about $35 for one person. If you like the big Texas Lone Star - Mexican kind of meals, this is the place for you. It was an overall good experience, the food tasted good, was hot and we didn't have to wait long. read more

Went in as a party of 3, ordered an appetizer which was good (deep fried pickles) Entrees came which included 2 strip loin steak dinners and shrimp tacos. Both steaks came very undercooked and rest of the steak dinner was cold. Manager I believe took both our steaks and left us the potato and vegetable portions (who likes to eat steak without the extras that go with it) 5 minutes later our steaks came back out cooked properly but way too much seasoning. I will come here again and again for one thing. The fajitas! Their tortillas are made in the middle of the restaurant in a special tortilla oven. And they are so thick and fluffy, I've never had anything like it before. So good! And they're all you can eat. Finish what you've got and they'll gladly bring you a couple more freshly baked. Also, the fixings that come with it (cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce) are all you can eat as well. The only thing bad I have to say about the place is their ribs. Usually fall-off-the-bone is a good thing, but here they are so overcooked the only way I can describe them is mushy or soggy. I mean, there should be some pull to them, a bit of chewing to do. Avoid the ribs. But that doesn't bother me, because fajitas, fajitas, fajitas! Also, whoever is putting the dollar range at $$$, which is "$30 to $60 per person", the fajitas (their signature item as far as I'm concerned) are $17.99, nearly half that. And there are many other menu items of a similar price. Come on people, this is a $$ restaurant! Wow! Very happy to find this place. The staff was awesome. My server was Nashville and she made me feel very comfy. Her recommendations were spot on. The place clean and cheerful, and not so loud you can't think. The ribs and steak were cooked just right. Had to box mine up, couldn't finish it. Horrible service ordered a steak was supposed to come with a dressed pattato and onion rings got the order half hour later the potato had nothing on it. The server just put the food down and walked away. Never asked if we'd like refills or bbq sauce or any thing so we had to get up to ask for bbq sauce and a dressed patato like the pic in the menu also asked for more dressing on the salad because it never had any- so we got the bbq sauce and dressing and the bbq sauce was like water all over the place dumped out and made a mess-- we will never go back horrible service. read more

It's a chain - but it's decent. We had the Monday special - fajitas for two & it's available on holidays. We had just the chicken: a little salty but generous. The house made tortillas ( on site oven) were flour & good - a little doughy but soft. The chips and salsa were meh - bland :) chips weren't crunchy. I was so disappointed ! This was the first time we went there and I wish we chose something else. The boyfriend and I ordered the burrito one with chicken and one with steak... it was $17.50 a plate and everything tasted like it was out of a can. - Refried beans were probably out of a can - All the sauces - pretty sure it was store bought tostitos - The mexican rice was definitely not homemade and was probably a $1-2 add water type package - The chicken was rubbery and looked like the sliced chicken you can buy precooked. I understand not everything has to be homemade- but for $17.50 a plate and when you can taste everything is completely processed/out of can it sucks. We felt like we got burned big time especially because there is tons of awesome homemade places here in windsor that charge at least $6 less a plate for same but better food. Ok... to start with after a 30 minute wait for a table, we find there's empty tables all over the restaurant. Not a good start, then the wait staff is slow & disorganized. The wait to get in was way too long and while waiting people are being seated before you in the lounge area because its fight for your own seat if your at the bar. So ridiculous! They didn't even let us know that that was an option when we arrived. Finally seated we ordered the avocado wedges and they were not tasty. They may have had a bit of a fishy taste to them. Try deep frying your fish in separate fryers. As for the two entrees we ordered they were also not good. We had the BIG RIG which tasted like dog food and the Texas butter fajitas which are actually hot boneless buffalo wings served with unlimited toppings. We did not ask about price or looked at menu just assuming it would be a decent price seeing as a friend told us to order it. Got the steak fajita for 2 and was shocked when I saw it. Not how I make fajitas! Am used to Mexican Towns Fajitas. Should be served with melting cheese on top and a few more peppers and when we went to pay she brought machine over and said was $76! I asked for detailed receipt and saw Fajita was $44 plus tax! Way OVER PRICED! for what you get. The plate was SMALL! The side orders come on. With Fajitas you have plenty of sour cream and not a tablespoon of it and the toppings, it looked like it was for tacos! The chips are very good I can say.
