I took my wife to Lone Star for a first-time visit. The girl at the front was full of good energy; she was kind, professional, and had such a lovely smile. We are an older Asian couple and were celebrating some positive news my wife received recently. Initially, the server, a young lady, didn't acknowledge my presence at the table. She immediately looked to my wife and greeted her; she didn't look at me, which is disrespectful - you don't do that as a server (somebody re-train this girl) - and when she did look at me, it was very direct and with an angry face. Not sure what I did to affect this young lady's manners, but I gathered she was some young, over-the-top feminist (the latest iteration of this 'movement' or whatever it's called is a big reason why this world is so messed up). I understand you disagree with me; look deeper, but that's ok. That said, after I told her that if she takes care of us, we'll take care of her, she did well, and at the end, I tipped her handsomely. However, I can't imagine her giving negative vibes and an angry face to every man who walks in with his girlfriend or wife, but if she does, the hospitality industry isn't for her. It has been 10+ years since I'd been to a lone star so I figured I would go for nostalgia. The chips and salsa were exactly as I remembered chips are warm and crispy, salsa light and tasty. Sadly the bowls are smaller and they didn't offer to refill. We ordered steak and chicken fajitas for two. Good quality meat very tasty and of course sizzling hot as it arrived. Haven't been to Lone Star yet since it opened, but last night I had the opportunity to as I went with a bunch of friends from work. We had made a reservation and were seated right away when we walked in. We were greeted with the door being opened for us, and a greeting from the hostess in the front area, and we were also told where the washrooms were located as well. Our waitress came around and asked for our drink orders, informed us of the drink special of the day and was very accommodating to us as we were waiting on a few more to show up. Brought out the complimentary chips and salsa for us to share as we browsed the menu. I ended up going with the Fork & Knife Burrito, minus the cilantro, others around me ordered the Chicken Fajitas and some burgers, our meals came out in good time too, pipping hot! The burrito tasted good, it was a bit spicy, but I asked for some extra sour cream on the side, which came out right away. Everyone was on the ball with making sure we had everything we needed. The service was great, the prices for everything is bit on the more expensive side of things, for one meal & a drink from the bar, it was about $35 for one person. Went in as a party of 3, ordered an appetizer which was good (deep fried pickles) Entrees came which included 2 strip loin steak dinners and shrimp tacos. Both steaks came very undercooked and rest of the steak dinner was cold. Manager I believe took both our steaks and left us the potato and vegetable portions (who likes to eat steak without the extras that go with it) 5 minutes later our steaks came back out cooked properly but way too much seasoning. I will come here again and again for one thing. The fajitas! Their tortillas are made in the middle of the restaurant in a special tortilla oven. And they are so thick and fluffy, I've never had anything like it before. So good! And they're all you can eat. Finish what you've got and they'll gladly bring you a couple more freshly baked. Also, the fixings that come with it (cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce) are all you can eat as well. The only thing bad I have to say about the place is their ribs. Usually fall-off-the-bone is a good thing, but here they are so overcooked the only way I can describe them is mushy or soggy. I mean, there should be some pull to them, a bit of chewing to do. Avoid the ribs. But that doesn't bother me, because fajitas, fajitas, fajitas! Also, whoever is putting the dollar range at $$$, which is "$30 to $60 per person", the fajitas (their signature item as far as I'm concerned) are $17.99, nearly half that. They didn't even let us know that that was an option when we arrived. Finally seated we ordered the avocado wedges and they were not tasty. They may have had a bit of a fishy taste to them. Try deep frying your fish in separate fryers. As for the two entrees we ordered they were also not good. We had the BIG RIG which tasted like dog food and the Texas butter fajitas which are actually hot boneless buffalo wings served with unlimited toppings.
