Had an excellent experience at Lombardi's in Salisbury (two, in fact!). Lombardi's prepared a large order (65+) of sandwiches for my son's sports team. The owner, Raad, was a pleasure to work with and one of the orders was a "last minute" order on Mother's Day...just a few hours notice! He was so accommodating and the food was delicious! Hot chicken parm subs for the 1st order that arrived ALL hot (hard to do with that many!) and italian subs for the 2nd order - filled with meat and very fresh ingredients. The last time I was at Lombardis the service was great but the owner was awful. I had an issue with the tape on the benches snagging my sweater. I mentioned it both to the cashier and the owner on my way out and was blown off by both. The owner was snarky and condescending and acted like it was my fault that he needed to replace the tape holding his seating together. This happened about 6 months ago and I haven't returned. We went to Lombardi's for late lunch/early dinner and it was honestly the worst dining experience I've ever had. There was a children's birthday party there at the time, the children were completely out of control and running around the restaurant playing with plastic swords and nearly knocked over our drinks several times. Not really a great place for a children's birthday party. We sat right next to the fish tank bc our kids wanted to see fish but it was honestly so unappetizing. The fish are obviously being very neglected and it's sad to see and gross to look at when you're trying to eat. It's odd that there is no kids menu? It seems like it's very marketed toward children with the kids mural etc. but to not have a kids menu just makes things difficult. I asked the waitress if there is a kids menu and she said no you just have to kind of look for things for kids on the menu. Odd..but okay. The food was awful. My daughter got spaghetti and meatballs it was almost inedible. The spaghetti was EXTREMELY over cooked, basically turned to mush. The meatball was rubbery and had no flavor. My husband and I both got strombolis and they weren't awful but again didn't have much flavor. I got sausage, peppers, and onions on mine..you kind of expect there to be a good balance of ingredients but there was a TON of peppers and onions and barely any cheese/sausage. It was weird and not great but edible unlike my daughters spaghetti. My other daughter got pizza. The crust was very thin and burnt in areas, she ate it but said it "wasn't good". We didn't complain to our server bc she seemed annoyed with life anyway..we just paid our bill and left but will absolutely not be returning. I rarely leave negative reviews but I'd describe our dining experience as dismal at best. I feel depressed thinking about it. read more

Stopped in since we were in the area but we will not be back. My partner and son got a pizza to share and I ordered a chicken parm pasta dish. Their pizza was supposed to be half beef and half pineapple. It came out super thin and burnt in places. Some slices didn't seem to have any toppings at all. My dish seemed forgotten when their pizza arrived so I had to wait a while longer. When it finally came out, the marinara used on the pasta was really disappointing. I just didn't like the flavor at all. It was loaded with hunks of green bell pepper that I wasn't expecting and I could not eat my meal. Lombardis is a childhood favorite of mine. Unfortunatley, they have received my last dollar. The first incident was just before Christmas when my husband had a family member visit and he wanted pizza. I aggressively chose Lombardis and even offered to go get it as we did not want to eat out and delivery is not an option for us. When I returned home, we discovered the pizza was not even close to thoroughly cooked. There were three college age people working there at the time and I assume no boss because cell phones were very important to them while I waited for my order. I assumed it was a fluke. Sometimes bad service happens and I don't give up on a place without giving them a second chance so tonight my husband and I decided to carry out again. I called in a cheese steak sub and chicken parm dinner which includes a salad. Once I got home, we unwrapped the sub. The bread did not even appear to be sliced, much less filled with steak and cheese. The chicken parm was what one would expect from a pizza joint. Pizza sauce with pasta and a single breaded and fried chicken patty. I would comment on the salad but they couldn't bother to include it. So I paid $24 dollars for a Bread Sub and incomplete dinner. I hope they enjoyed my money because its the last penny they will ever receive from me or anyone in my family. read more

This was the worst, just absolute worst service and food I have ever experienced. PERIOD. My husband and I ordered to go online early Friday evening. When my husband got there with our hungry 1 year old in tow, not only was the order not ready, they DIDNT EVEN HAVE IT. When they finally realized it was an order payed online, they made it incorrectly, did not apologize to my husband and then asked him to pay again for food he already payed for. The food was just disgusting. The stromboli did not have cheese or any of the toppings I picked out. It was literally 100% nasty Tomato sauce. My daughter who is a vacume cleaner when it comes to pizza rejected her pizza slice and my husband didn't even eat his because it looked so bad. The cheese was a disgusting mess, with little sauce. They got the toppings on the pizza correct, so one star there I guess since I can't give no stars. They forgot my salad dressing and our drinks as well. When I called for a refund they told me I had to return the food. So I would literally have to bring a bag of garbage back to them and drag my 1 year old and 3 month old 20 minutes across town with no dinner in order to get the 50$ we wasted on them. My wife and I went to Lombardi's Pizza in Salisbury last night for dinner and I ordered an Italian Cold Cut Sub. Told the waitress twice no onions or tomatoes. The 1st time it came out with both, the 2nd and 3rd time it came back and still had the onions and tomatoes on it. I asked for a new sub and saw the waitress hand the sub to the cook saying they'd like a new sub. Less than 30 seconds later the sub was given back to the waitress after the cook picked off the tomatoes and onions. Thought maybe the waitress would've said I'm sorry at least once but just dropped the sub on the table and walked away without a word each time. We asked to speak with the manager and were told she'd be out when she had a minute. Absolutely the worst customer service ever. Won't be back! read more

Definitely avoid. Four of us were hungry on the way back to Baltimore from Ocean City, decided to stop here to avoid a rainstorm and get a quick dinner. Somehow my area of the table became very wet with a puddle of water (I didn't spill my cup), the paper placemat (which actually was a nice "old school" touch )became soggy and ripped. Pointed this out to the server, instead of wiping it up she gave me a second paper placemat, which of course also became soggy (it wasn't made of Bounty!), and proceeded to put down a stack of about 6 paper placemats to soak it up. Ordered dinner - the mushroom pasta sounded interesting. Asked if they had a pink or vodka sauce instead of marinara or butter sauce, the waitress (in an ITALIAN restaurant) asked, "what's a pink sauce". Seriously? Ordered the pasta dish with penne and the butter sauce. Serve comes back a few minutes later, "we're out of penne". Seriously? How can an ITALIAN restaurant run out of penne noodles? OK, ordered a cheesesteak sub like my friends, chips instead of fries. Almost 40 minutes later (there were only about 5 or so other tables being served, so it wasn't busy) the 4 subs come out -- 2 are lukewarm and one is cold. The server reports that the kitchen "messed" mine up and had to redo it, so instead of bringing the other 3 subs out and mine afterwards, the other 3 sat in the kitchen. Server also reported that I got a "free upgrade" to fries. Nice, but I had asked for chips. I'd definitely avoid this place and find another restaurant. read more

I'm giving this place two starts as it has become a Salisbury landmark. However, I have a few issues with just about everything besides the breadsticks and peppercorn sauce. Don't even get me started on the pathetic excuse for a slice of pie that comes from bulk sale or the meatballs that sit in boiling water from open to close. Owner is nothing but rude and can't be bothered to speak with guests or customers, yet chooses to be there 5 days a week? Better save your time complaining, chances are there's only one decent manager on duty if you go at the right time. Good to go for the experience because you should experience everything once. We ordered a Stromboli that comes with three "toppings" that you pick from the pizza topping list. We chose hamburger, onion and mushroom. Our appetizer came right away, then we waited so long for the Stromboli, that we asked them to box it to go. If we had stayed, I would have immediately sent it back. First, every stromboli I've ever had was tube like, dough wrapped around a filling. What we got was a flat folded over pizza, crimped at the edges??? Perhaps, it was flat because there were only some onions and a few pieces of mushrooms, but certainly, no ground beef. So disappointed. read more

Lombardi's is a fallback for husband and I, when we're over at the Twilley Center and happen to be hungry. The staff seems to be a lot of high school/college students and one or two older women. Friendly but sometimes a little slow. The decor is a little run down and I think the place could stand to be scrubbed top to bottom. They've hung pictures of Disney characters and other cartoons all over the store and seem to really milk the "kid friendly" aspect in all of their advertising. There is a giant mural of cartoon characters in their back room, and almost all of their ads mention the fish tank. To be honest, though, the fish tank is a bit sad and kind of gross. It's almost always full of algae, and my aquarium enthusiast husband has pointed out that there are way too many fish crammed in the tank for the fish to be healthy and happy. The food is priced very reasonably and is usually pretty tasty. The menu has quite a few options, whether you want pizza, subs or other Italian-American fare. They have a whole wheat pizza crust available that is not half bad. Occasionally I find the thin crust pizza to be a little under-done and not quite crispy enough. Husband likes their cheese steak subs and says that their cannoli are tasty. read more

I was at work and this was my first order. I placed a carry out order online. My administrative assistant picked it up for me. It was a total disappointment. I ordered a fountain drink which was forgotten. I ordered Italian sausage pasta. It should have come with bread but that was also forgotten. The small container was completely full. However, the pene pasta, meat sauce and sausage was not mixed together. There is no way I could mix it all together without making a mess. The meat sauce was thin and very bland tasting. The Italian sausage consisted of two links of sausage that were lying on top of the meat sauce. It was almost impossible to cut with plastic utensils. I feel like no one was trying. Overall, Lombardi's has a lot going for it: great food and reasonable pricing. It has also been one of the longest running restaurants in Salisbury, predating the big chains (like Applebees) by a couple decades. I have fond memories of eating their fantastic pizza since I was a young kid. Unfortunately, they sometimes have spotty service. You can go one time, and get waited on right away with no problem. Other times, you might find the wait just a bit too long. Not a big deal if the place is busy at a peak time -- but this isn't always the case. I still recommend the place, just based on the great food alone. Just keep that other part in mind. read more
