Visited for the first time after seeing all the good reviews. Ordered the Italian Sub and the vodka Sauce pie. Very busy place so if ordering order early. We ate in, they have a few tables and serve bottled beverages. They do not have ice for the beverages. Seats were comfortable and after a short wait our food order came out. The Italian sub was really good with the Italian meats and EVVO garnish. They had Mortadella on it which I love. They use Liscios bread. The pizza was cooked very well, the crust was crispy and airy very tasty. However the toppings had a bite to them which we later found out was the Vodka sauce? The pancetta was crispy and spinach ok. In my opinion it could have used some more cheese. The pizza price was $28.50, a bit steep even for the resort area. I will have to try the regular with sweet fennel sausage for a definitive opinion. read more

I'm glad I went on this particular Saturday as they were having a daily special of several sandwiches so I bought 1 cheesesteak on a seeded roll along with a chicken cheesesteak. Even though Selbyville is mostly known for seafood restaurants, I was in the mood for some pizza. With that known, Luca's seemed like the best bet. Having said that, I ordered a pepperoni pizza and I was surprised by how good it was. To put into perspective, this was really good New York style pizza. To explain, the crust was thin, crispy, and had nice flavor. In addition, the cheese was flavorful with just the right amount of grease. Furthermore, the sauce tasted homemade and had great taste. On a Saturday night off-season we felt like pizza, so ordered one from Luca's. We were told it would be ready in one hour. I showed up one hour later and only after paying for it, did I see it being made & going into the oven. I asked the cashier if waiting an hour off-season was typical, and she said yes and it would only get worse once the season gets busier. She suggested calling in the middle of the afternoon to request a food pick-up at 6 o'clock, for example. I'll keep that in mind, but sometimes a pizza craving only hits closer to dinner time. So, after an hour and 15 minutes, my pizza is finally ready. I wish I took a picture of how unevenly it was sliced, but that has nothing to do with the taste. It was decent, that's the only word that comes to mind. Even though we ordered a large, it must have been on the smaller side; when the three of us share a pizza, we always have leftovers. But not with this one. Would I return? Maybe. They make a roast pork and broccoli rabe sandwich I've been wanting to try. If I remember to order dinner in the middle of the afternoon, I might give it a try. But for any dinner-time pizza cravings, I'll return to Caruso's who managed to fill orders quickly and make a delicious pie. read more

After following Luca's for months on the socials, we made the hour drive to try out the sandwiches and pizzas. We are always looking for a taste of Philly in Delaware and Luca's is the real deal. The owner is from Northeast Philly and lived in South Philly. The menu is inventive and delicious. After trying two sandwiches, we knew we needed pie so we took one home. I'm from Philly. This is the best chicken cheesesteak I've ever had in Southern DE. Good, hot, crispy shoestring fries (no coating or seasoning--yay!). Their menu seems to tweak things to use better ingredients (e.g., my cheesesteak was made with Cooper cheese). No fountain, so you have to buy individual sodas from their fridge. I made it back last week to try the Luca's Cheesesteak--Top 5 cheesesteaks I've ever had and by far the best at the beach from Rehoboth to Ocean City (MD). Cooper sharp, roasted long hots, fried onions, and mushrooms on a seeded Liscio's (I did have to take off the long hots as they were too hot for me). I still love Pomodoro but since they only offer pizza, Luca's is worth the extra 10 minutes from Bethany. read more

First off, I'm a bit of a pizza snob...was visiting a friend in Fenwick and they wanted to get Grottos - been there, done that - and it's fine. I came across Luca's and wanted to try it out, so we did. We got two pies; the pepperoni and the veggie to get variety. Both were very good. Luca's gets the basics right: great balance across the board, excellent crust consistency (crisp yet soft), quality toppings, cooked slightly well. No joke: Outside of the New York Tri-State/New Haven corridor, this is one of the best pizza and sandwich spots I've been to in the world (that includes Italy and a few dozen other countries; when I travel abroad, I sniff out local pizza as much as possible). The owner is friendly and engaging, he also has an open air kitchen so you can see them cooking; and he's a true master at his craft. If I remember correctly, from our conversation, he attended the CIA in Hyde Park and it certainly shows. My go-to orders are the Italianio hoagie (chicken cutlet, broccoli rabe, roasted red peppers, provolone and garlic aioli) with prosciutto and a pepperoni, ricotta and hot honey pie (the fungi is also amazing as is the regular or "OG"). The calzones are gigantic and phenomenal as well, and you have to try the garlic knots. I don't know what he does to his sauce but it tastes like a mix of San Marzanos and some kind of cherry tomato (I say cherry tomato because there's a certain brightness to it) hand is packed full of umami. It's all just so dang good, the quality is insane and so is the consistency. I wish they had a bigger kitchen so they could make entrees and pasta, this area is in desperate need of *good* Italian takeout, but alas - I'll settle for the brilliance that already is. read more
