The service was also fantastic and friendly (granted we visitied in late April in the middle of the week at around 1pm so I'm not surprised the place was empty of tourists.) My family and I came to Pops Kitchen during a vacation to Ocean City, MD. We wanted to do something different so we came to the town of Berlin, MD. We stumbled upon Pops Kitchen and figured we'd give it a try. We were met by very nice people while ordering who were very patient with our out of town ordering process. We had cheesesteaks, chicken parm over penne, and a Friday special chicken cutlet and roasted corn. The entire table raved about their food to include the fries. The fries were amazing. Had a great pizza at Pop's today. Everyone there was very nice, and at $24 for the three of us, it was definitely the cheapest meal we are going to have on this vacation (by far). We sat in the back, and I found it truly heartwarming to see all the thank-you cards on the bulletin board from all the local non-profits that Pop's has supported over the years. Decided to try Pop's Kitchen on way home from a shopping trip. It is an old style mom and pop pizza parlor. Tomato and basil soup was great as was the cream of broccoli. I ordered a small 12" build your own, pepperoni and sausage. When the brought it out the waitress said sorry but the made a mistake and made a large! I offered to pay the difference but was told it was ok as it was their mistake. Pizza was just like I remember as a kid In Baltimore going to the local pizza joint. If you are in the area give it a try. They have a decent menu with something for everyone. Needless to say I added more to the tip jar. Great service and friendly staff. Great little pizza, calzone, and sub shop. Got a cheese calzone, It was yum with both mozzarella and ricotta cheeses. I had them add sausage. The sausage was sliced not crumble which is important. The serve fountain Pepsi products which is blah but they do have cans of Coke products. Pizza slice was good. Sauce here is more sweet than spicy. Overall great experience and will return. read more

We were shopping in Berlin for the afternoon; as one does and wanted a light easy dinner. Pop's fit the bill. Such a great addition to Berlin. They have a very extensive menu including house made soups. We opted for the special flatbread which included a salad. The dough was fresh made; you could tell! It was tasty. You can park in the back which is great and needed for the area. They have a restroom but you need to get the key at the counter. A fun surprise was the local artists works on the walls. Real nice surprise. After driving all day we were looking for a decent place to stop for a quick bite. We drove into downtown Berlin and found it was a cute little community with a bustling downtown with a lot of pride. Food is homemade and delicious. We had pizzas, chicken cutlet parm, and roasted Brussels sprouts with feta and honey, which were to die for!! It's a newer more modern look with an open kitchen. The fries had a nice crisp to them but soft inside. Chicken parm sub we had to ask for to make sure they can actually make it with chicken (their menu has a meatless one) but was filled with sauce and cheese and a good helping of chicken. After reading reviews of Pop's Kitchen we stopped in to give them a try. We got a large cheese pizza, a cheesesteak sub, the antipasti salad, focaccia bread. The pizza , great!! crust, great sauce and cheese baked just right just a little crisp to the crust when you bite into bit. I've got to say the cheesesteak sub was the best from a deli since Cesserino's in Florida. Nice roll toasted lightly, the steak nice portion, nicely seasoned, and don't ruin it with onions ,peppers, etc. it doesn't need it , just provolone cheese. The antipasti salad had to be the freshest from any deli we have had. Real nice greens and mushrooms and really good meats. And the focaccia bread though not as good as my Italian grandmother's it is a close second great dipped in red sauce. We will be back!! read more

Holy Moly, if you are looking for a cooked, take-away DELICIOUS! Thanksgiving dinner, this is the place for you...We are heading out of town and saw this special posted. Since packing up is always a pain, we wanted something easy we could do at home. We were blown away by the quality, the freshness/flavor and huge portions. (we couldn't even finish half) First, the dinners were perfectly packaged. When we got home we discovered a ton of (juicy) white meat turkey, crispy sausage stuffing, candied sweet potatoes, creamy scalloped potatoes (we could have gotten mashed instead) green bean casseroles with crispy onion topping and tubs of gravy filled with lots of dark meat turkey. (and cranberry sauce) We have had many restaurant turkey dinners over the years that did not come close to this quality and were usually priced significantly more. 20 minutes in the oven and we had a true feast! In addition their soups are home made and delicious. They have good burgers, crispy crinkle fries, big, fat cheesesteaks (they make their own cheese topping) and decent pizza. My wife and I were so blown away by the food at Pop's when we had lunch there a couple of days back that we went back to Berlin today just to eat there again. There are some tables inside, but Pop's is essentially take-out and even if you eat in, the food is packaged to go. You order at the counter, and your food is brought to the table. We've eaten in twice and we also got some take-out for tonight's dinner. Everything we had has been of excellent quality, but the soups are stand-outs. On our first trip, there were so many soups that we asked if we could sample them before deciding. They accommodated us with little cups of each soup (the little containers you're served cocktail sauce, etc), and it was hard to choose. We sampled Maryland crab, tomato-basil, chili, and broccoli. The broccoli was for lunch, but we took a quart each of the chili and the tomato soup home for the next day's lunch. We both ordered off that day's specials menu: sweet and sour chicken for my wife, and Italian sausage sub with marinara and provolone. Both were excellent. We went back today, and my wife ordered the French onion soup and I had the mushroom soup. Again, both were excellent. Today, we ordered off the regular menu: burger for my wife and cheese steak for me. The only improvement I would suggest would be to toast the sub roll, which was a nice, soft roll and would have been perfect for a cold-cut. You have your choice of cheese for the cheese steak, and I had their house-made cheese sauce -- highly recommend this sauce. My wife's burger was cooked to perfection, and the fries (crinkly fries) were really good, too. On today's specials menu was a take-and-heat-up option: turkey dinner with gravy, stuffing, green beans, sweet potatoes, and choice of mashed or scalloped potatoes -- we opted for the scalloped. We just finished dinner, and we have plenty of leftovers. Food was delicious -- everything cooked just right. One favorite was the gravy, which was full of turkey dark meat and really flavorful -- we'll be having open-faced turkey sandwiches for lunch tomorrow. Oh, almost forgot -- we got a slice of pizza just to try it, and it was very good (although not a threat to Franco's on the boardwalk in Ocean CIty). I am SO furious with this place I can hardly contain myself...we planned our entire day around going for lunch at Pop's. We checked Facebook, their website, Yelp and their phone answering message. Every one of them said opening on Monday at 11:00. We went well out of our travel route because we love the food and the people there. We arrived to a dark building with a sign on the door listing opening hours of "Monday 11:00" I called from my cell phone. Again the message was opening Monday at 11:00. We were devastated, confused and worried. Did someone die??? Did this place go out of business from the last time we were there?? I called again an hour later-same message. It wasn't until we got home that we discovered that they had posted on their FB page a couple of hours ago that they would be closing for a staff party. This may do it for us.
